Daily smokers, why are you still buying China glass?

Regarding expensive glass vs cheap glass - What exactly about the function of the device is going to improve the vaping experience?

Basically nothing.

You may get a much better vortexing recycler etc, but essentially its just air bubbling through water. It isnt going to be much different function to sticking a downpipe in a plastic bottle.

I think the aspect that is really being overlooked here is the concept of glass as art.

Is that Canadian piece from Fluidmotion?

I'd trade my left nut and several others for one of those.

How many do you have???

Ignore the TROLL's.

It's hard bro!

Just an OPINION! (opinion's R like ASS HOLES) we all have one.

Are you sure? Apparently some around these parts have more than just a pair of balls??

Why is everyone getting their panties in such a twist?

LOL

This is not correct. I don't know how much (if any) Chinese glass Robert sells, but I've met @PlanetVape's glass guy so I know that not everything is from China

Blaze, Black Leaf, high five.... are these not made in China? What about their Mobius knockoff, that's made in house? I know their accessories are in house and he's even repaired a bong for me personally, so i'd love to know which pieces are blown by him (if any). We were SO CLOSE to getting a FC bong made for us!

Jesus its the internet for gods sake if you cant take a bit of criticism here then youre fucked in the real world.

And if you can't understand why you're getting so much push back you're even more fucked in the real world IMO.

Is it the concern of breaking your expensive glass? If so, what has caused your glass to get broken in the past?

Anything harder than glass coming in contact with it.

China is not known for quality at the moment. They are in the process of trying to change the appearance of the country but will take time.

China is great at copying. They dont charge for the idea, just for the time and materials. Many people buy knockoffs on DHgate and many US blowers charge a ton for the same style knockoffs. One guy is charging $5 an hour compared to the other charging $75 an hour. US blowers will not work for $10 an hour and I dont blame them.

For example, If you want a US made, knockoff Mothership FTK, Fatboy has a FTK for like $1000 and it looks fairly close to a China made FTK that is $100. Now will it work and function like a mothership or even a fatboy for $100 is a different story.

@biohacker

I would volunteer a number of candidates in my area. Chloroform is easy to make.

@Shooby

Good to see that talk. Many people forget that once Canada and the US were held up as pariahs for violating IP. We could make Euro products here, cheaper (and less quality), so why pay?

China is at that stage, but progresses quickly. I think in the next decade we will see them bring true IP protection up to global standards.

@VapourHaze

One only has to watch a few of Fluidmotion's function videos to see the beauty.

Well my green quartz quest glass atomiser lid turned out to be green paint not green glass.

Id be surprised if this was the only case. I've also seen videos recently where a heady China pipe was just painted glass inside. (The bowl and everything)
Wow that’s great to know that the Quartz Quest uses painted glass @divinetribe do you want to weigh in here. Please don’t use painted glass!

I look at my glass as art and appreciate it as art still doesn’t mean I’ll spend a grand or more for piece. I love my American slyme fab Dino and the purple kraken I got from CCG. To say that those pieces aren’t art would be idiotic. They are awesome I love them and I am able to afford awesome glass art. To get a kraken from wicked glass or mako glass is $3000+ I payed $165 from CCG for my kraken. The fab dino is the same it’s be $3000+ from Elbo and was less than $100 from CCG. I will never spend $1000-3000+ for a piece but I do love glass art. I had an American artist make me a kraken for $350 and i don’t like it. There’s no perc and all the arms are open inside so they get water in them. I have also bought a couple mini tubes from ig and one had a wonky joint and the other the horn broke off just barley tapping the horn. I have gotten better quality from China lately than I have from American artists.

The most I have ever spent on glass is $500 for a hand blown rig in the 90’s and I still have it. I had a couple of Jerome Bakers that were 350-400 and ended up breaking them. Now I really try to keep my glass purchases below $100 but I will splurge once in awhile.

I won’t go into a local head shop and buy China glass, you are right they do mark it up 5-10x what you can get it from dhgate for.

You'd have to ask Robert about that. I know that the stems and cooling mouthpieces are locally made, but I'm not sure about bubblers, etc.

And most of them stink. :)

I just looked at this `art' (ET with his dick hanging out?) and would not use any of it due to how hard they would be to clean, not to mention all the little bling bits that could get broken, reminds me of how people buy Harleys instead of rice burners, all show and not much go.

May not be ur style but it certainly is art :D

I like china glass AND Harleys tho...

It's been a while since I've been on FC, but it seems like there is a ton of china glass being used by people who know the superiority of vaporizing, but continue to opt for cheapo glass that is being marked up 10 times what it should.

You smoke every day but don't have nice glass.

American glass is all price ranges. Anywhere from less than $50 to $50,000.

Why not find you something made locally that is pretty dope for a decent price. That up and coming glass artist will remember you if you treat them right.

If you look hard enough you could probably find a nice American made piece for less than that China rig you bought from the local smoke shop.

Is it the concern of breaking your expensive glass? If so, what has caused your glass to get broken in the past?
Daily smokers? :puke: I am a daily vaporist and have zero concerns about using my Chinese glass. In fact I think I will order some more  :rockon:

Funny, doesn't China make Apple's iphone? U.S. Corporations willingly gave their business and factories to make quick profits by selling cheaper 'made in China' goods to the American people. China was paid to do what they do by GREEDY American and global capitalists. The 1% love everything china has been for them...just ask the Waltons.

I have a nice mobius piece and there are several chinese glass pieces I prefer to use. It is nice to have functional glass that is affordable. Out of all the things I appreciate 'made in china' cheap weed tools make me the happiest.

:myday:
Yes they do. But remember, China never designed it as it was completely designed in Cupertino. Was only told how to assemble it. They cannot come up with good ideas. Translate that to glass, China will never innovate and create new styles and percs. They will wait to see how someone else makes it and try to copy it and sell it.

You are absolutely right about how China only makes what americans pay them to make.

China makes and assembles basically everything and anything electronic. They just do not come up with the idea or even the method to creating or assembling the products. That is all taught by the OEMs. They are basically the USA laborers. As we send them our devices to be made and assembled, they are learning and stealing the US technologies. With that knowledge and basically free labor, China's pricing is untouchable.

Translating it to glass, you will never see a China glass blower create a new style rig or even perc. They just copy a US artist and sell. If it leaks, oh well.

Even just to browse headlines you start to see more innovation from China. It was my understanding they are spending many magnitudes more resources to develop quantum computing and other technologies.

Those supercars are all but useless in the real world, good for posers on the weekend if the weather is fine and the road is perfect, just sayin most people with common sense would not buy a Ferrari as a daily driver(except maybe that guy with the comb over going through a mid life crisis)
But hey, if you have J Leno`s budget, why not drive ChittyChittyBangBang everyday:)

.

I don't think this is to be considered stealing, since they use experience from their every-day-work-life to generate ideas, its not their fault they are being taking advantage of by huge american companies that wants 1000 iphones per hour (This is just life for many of those workers, they didn't choose it )

also; if these methods was so precious, why not just keep the whole production in the USA and pay the full price of the labor to the workers

because profits is more precious :D

China is a nation made up of human beings just like all other nations. To say there is something wrong with the Chinese people's ability to innovate, design, and create could only come from a person that lacks critical thinking skills.

Think about it for a minute and once you get past the racial undertones of your comment maybe you will be able to see what I mean.

Exactly. I'm Chinese and I lack the critical thinking skills as you say. Im right on point.

I deal with Chinese students on a daily basis. They are genuinely poor at critical thinking and it is widely acknowledged that this is cultural and a reflection of Chinese education systems. It sounds racist but it is just reality.

Lets stop generalizing yeah? People are just people wherever you go. Every culture is filled with ideas and innovation... and also emulation. We have nobody to blame for the Chinese seeing profit in copying our products and making them cheaper... it was greedy Americans that outsourced our manufacturing capabilities and created the opportunity for them. If the shoe was on the other foot, I guarantee American's would be doing the same thing, and China would be bitching about it.

and yes i use a beautiful piece as a daily driver, i have a good ammount of glass and its fun to share with folks, switch things up, enjoy the diff artist style's ect.

i have no comb over, am young, fit, and grow weed for a living...
