And @mrb maybe if I just put a dab of gorilla glue on the end of the screw and reattached it would be a good hold?
Gorilla Glue expands. If you dab the tip of the screw, the threads of the screw might pull the glue to the top of the hole and adhere the lid shut. You are better off adding glue to the hole first and curing, then screwing the lid in.

Id use a centre punch (or use a sharp screw or nail) with a hammer to make a small dent in the centre of the magnet

Now drill a 2mm hole through the magnet, using the dent to keep the drill bit in place at the start.

To drill your magnet you'll want a sharp 2mm drill bit and too keep your drill speed on the lower setting (450rpm)
Go slow and be patient, it might take some time.

The magnet might shatter while drilling
or you will end up with your hole and you can use this centered hole to prise and break out the magnet with a small screwdriver or such.

Be carefull not to drill too far into your stash when the drill finally breaks through the magnet..

Wow, thank you so much for such a detailed set of instructions. This will be nice challenge, glad I purchased a vise when I picked up that slug .33 a few months back. I have a couple of magnets from Home Depot that’s of a similar thickness so i’ll practice with those before I risk my beautiful stash.

Has anyone from Greece ever ordered straight from Dynavap? I was wondering about the shipping cost or any other extra fees. Has your package gotten stuck in customs? I don't mind the wait, but I wouldn't want to have any sort of trouble with authorities and such...

Drilling rare earth magnets is a bad idea. They’re brittle, hard, pyrophoric, and ceramic. I’m not sure why we’re talking about removing the magnet in the first place?

Also to repair screw holes you want to fill the hole with a tooth pick and wood glue. I personally hate Gorilla glue because it has a very weak glue bond unless you have a perfect joint and it expands while drying. Typically leaving a huge mess to clean up and also forcing most of the glue out of the joint.

I believe someone said they found the DV magnet to be weak/weaker than the replacement
they had found.

I put another DV magnet on mine, and could not (with some difficulty) pry it off. :ko:

Could a wood burning flat tip solder tool be used to soften the adhesive underneath. :\

That's a bit reassuring, but what about when torches and hemp fibres etc. are involved?

Chat them up. Nice friendly folk—especially when it comes to ladies

^^^^this, exactly.
Drilling/filing/grinding/breaking rare earth magnets is definitely not a good idea!
I've read that once particles are freed from the magnet by these methods, their own mag field, combined with the very strong field of the main magnet often causes pieces to fly off at great speed.
It put an end to my thoughts of 'adjusting' magnets for projects.

I concur on the glue too.
I've had success with just PVA glue on one of my own experimental stashes that I've deliberately over tightened to see how difficult it would be to fix.
Working fine several weeks later, and I suspect that I may even be able to simply repeat the process of the lid becomes loose again.

Deffo don't drill the magnet though.
A vey thin blade slid down between magnet and wood could be less risky?

Is the magnet really too weak for you @almost there ?
Mine are all pretty strong.

Yes the Gorilla glue can be messy. I said that.

winegums' suggestion of a tooth pick is actually a great and easy idea i did not think of suggesting:tup:

I don't understand all the scaremongering regarding drilling the magnet!? Yes it will break up, i said that. But they are looking to replace it not save it..
I've broken loads of rare earth magnets, not sure what the danger is other than possible sharp bits of metal flying around the drill bit. But your drilling metal, so sure. Wear glasses!
I replaced the original magnet i put in my home made dynastash with a dynamagnet using the exact method i described before.

But obviously each to their own, any level of DIY had the potential to be dangerous..

I have some questions about the Vapcap. I'm sure the answers are somewhere in these 1230 pages, but it's hard to find them...
  1. Can the titanium tip be used with an induction heater (like Pipes')?
  2. Relating to that: how does it actually heat the herb? I assume it's a combination of conduction and convection? Given that you heat the cap, I assume some of the heat goes right through into the tip, while it also heats the air flowing between tip and cap while drawing? I think this question is relevant for induction heating, since induction would heat the tip more directly?
  3. The regular tip is non-adjustable; But do I actually need to pack the bowl tightly? Or can I fill it with any small amount of lose herb, even if it swirls around while drawing?
Thanks!

This is the bigger concern when there's flammable dust around the workshop, also it's very hard on the drill bit. What can and has happened to me is that the filings can pile up/stick together THEN catch fire and normally it's after you're done working and walk away.

I've had the 17M for a couple of months and I've been filling less than half a bowl most of the time. Actually I rarely fill it to capacity as it is too much for me. I cut my herb by hand. I either use just smalls nugs or I break them inside the bowl with the cap's digger outer. Sometimes I leave it loose other times I slightly press it down with the back of a slim pen. It works wonderfully either way. Just don't expect as big clouds as if you had it fully filled. But expect less coughing with a smaller amount (unless you're using @Squiby 's hemp fibre filter which you can find at the Best Of thread). Just be careful with the torch as small amounts of loose ground material can be vaporized fast and combustion is right around the corner. Other FCers have probably got more tips and tricks.

man, i've got to experiment with the SS tips more often.
to be honest I only vaped 5-10 bowls with an SS tip since I got a nonavong and an 17M to start with dynavap.
Have not tested the SS18 tip triple-double helix yet.

It heats faster compared to the SS17, right ?
And the draw resistance is better.
slower cooldown compared to ti tip, well this could be an advantage in some scenarios.

Finally made an account so I can join in the fun here. I love the vibe in this thread. I've been creeping this spot for a while now but the 4/20 sale finally got me to bite on a Vapcap M (2018) and a Ti tip. I'm in Canada so I suspect we're near the bottom of the list to be shipped out (since we'll be waiting over a week for customs clearance anyway) but I've been obsessed with the Vapcap, it's ridiculous. I'm currently rocking the OG Arizer Air and really looking forward to comparing and contrasting the 2 devices. Keep the tips rolling, I'm going to be an expert with the VC before it even hits my mailbox!

Hey @teddiecanuck !I'm new around here and new with vapcaps as well but I'm fairly positive you're gonna love both the vapcap and the people here. Very helpful, generous and fun crowd!

I've used the toothpick and glue approach for all kinds of stripped loose holes. It works great and is easy to do.

Yes. All dynavap tips can be used in an Induction heater. All the tip models are covered by the same stainless steel cap which interacts with the heater.

There are coils in the @Pipes induction heater that heats the sides of the tip. There is a spacing block at the bottom of the coilled tube that can be adjusted (sanded) to allow the cap to be seated deeper within the heated coils.

The tip is essentially an oven that is heated through the heat applied to the very thin cap. The oven heats the material (conduction) and as you draw, air is pulled through the exterior tip channels under the cap, heating the air that then flows through your material (convection). The Vapcap is a conduction/convection device. The newer tips allow a greater convection action than the gen 3 and earlier tips as well as the first SS M tips.

The regular tip is non-adjustable; But do I actually need to pack the bowl tightly? Or can I fill it with any small amount of lose herb, even if it swirls around while drawing?
The Stainless Steel M tips do not have interior ridges to easily adjust the CCD screen depth. The Titanium tips do have ridges that allow the screen depth to be adjustable.

You can load your tip anyway you please. Some people pack the bowl, others dont. Some grind, some don't. I never fill the chamber and I don't grind my weed. I microdose, so I just pluck a little nug off a flower bud and toss it into the chamber. It bounces around in there and I generally get three cycles before it is spent. Play around until you dial in your preferred method. It will work any which way you play it.

@teddiecanuck Welcome to the forum!! I'm in Canada as well. I've been converting fellow Canadians by gifting an M for a friend to those willing to convert to vaping. I'm looking forward to this summer!

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
Took the metal screen out a spare gasket meant for my Fury 2. there is quite a thick wall to them. And it fits over the carb of my vapcaps which makes a nice seal for any glass 18mm or 14 mm female connection for my water pieces.

My green package due Tuesday, but in town today. So I should rejoice then and enjoy whats left of my anticipation now. The double crown blackwood I got from PIU on 4/20 looks sleek. Waiting for the dynawax to arrive to condition it before using it FT.

Has anyone found a solution to the combustion smell seeping into the wood on the ti woody body? I have the blackwood and unfortunately there have been some mishaps resulting in combustion, sometimes really drawing on it and pulling the nastiness through the whole thing. It seems as though citrus is used for treating cigarette smoke, so I have the wood body in a Ziploc bag with some celestial seasonings lemon zinger teabags.
