@Andreaerdna, it's not opportunisim nor a marketing ploy, Ryan's doing it to pay tribute to his friend who was going to be his business partner. He did say that it's in recognition of Bruce's giving heart.
He's got about 300 current splinter w/l orders & will probably have the same for the Mi2 so he didn't have to do it at all to have good sales. If you had seen his instragram livestream yesterday, you would have heard him talking about his friend.

Death of a friend is sad, I lost my dog not long ago and it sucked, I can imagine a good friend . Definitely not pinning Ryan for that one.
How are the reno's coming along anyways ? Wasn't it to be done April 1st. All I seen so far was a Step ladder yesterday on Instagram. Prior to that seen him jogging, fishing and fixing bikes lol. I do wonder why people like him so much though. When I started vaping , he said something via email that made me question why I'd give him my money. I find that a lot of times we seem to be misguided rather then knowing what really is going on with the RBT brand . The rbt open source project he called off not long ago is an example of that.. All the time he took making them videos , writing these posts on FC, it's all time that could have been concentrated on making Splinters.
The website thing that confuses many is another example , missed deadline after missed deadline.. does he still work with ModPod, or as that soured too ? There seems to be a pattern here..
I do wish he will recover from the lost of his friend quickly , that shop will open up soon and that people who are waiting on his products will finally be served .

Wouldn't want a man to work 24/7. Everyone needs breaks. Also he could've just been waiting for Splinter or Mi2 parts. He normally does other stuff when he's waiting or has the time for it.
Also the pattern I see is a man who builds vapes as a hobby and is learning the business side as he goes. What's a couple more days of waiting when you're already waiting. He's been pretty good with his deadlines after Zion imo. Obviously not perfect but the ballparks have been good enough imo. Also the death of a friend will naturally slow things down, as well as life itself when you don't have tons of employees to soften the blow of life's surprises.
I got no clue. Maybe shoot him a message on IG or give him a quick call!
It's unfortunate cuz I love seeing him around! Its cool being able to interact with the manufacturer of your vape, what a great feeling! (Looking at you log manufacturers too!)

To stay slightly on topic, I'll be sending my Splinter in to get repaired after my dumbass messed that up. Praying for a quick repair as I really do miss having it more than I thought. Sure feels like something is missing when I want that cruise mode and can't have it. The Zion replaces it well and is more of a beast, but the Splinter has a few bells and whistles I just really want sometimes.

I think most of us got an email from RBT on or around Jan. 10 updating us with our place in line. Take that number and subtract 20-30(fulfilled pre-orders) and that should be roughly where you’re at.

One thing that takes a bit of getting used to is using the splinter in sunny conditions. You cant see the vapor in the sunlight. Also the vapor is really cool. You dont get that heat in the back of your throat like a Milaana.
A couple of times i wondered if everything was working. Wacking up the heat. Of course it was - but led me to get over medicated. Messy. The next day it was cloudy out and i could see the huge clouds it was making.
Moral of the story - you cant always see the vapor. Just believe - your getting it!.

I spoke to Ryan this morning...he doesn't frequent the forums any longer so he doesn't know about this. Thank God for that!
Yesterday was the service and today they bury Bruce. It will be a tough day no doubt but I reminded him to focus on celebrating Bruce's life rather than grieving his death. I never had he pleasure of knowing Bruce but Ryan spoke of him often so I get the feeling Bruce would have wanted it this way.

Although a great device with good performance the tubox is not really pocket sized. I sold mine after 2 weeks as i need something truly portable.
Splinter performance is better than tubox and IMO worth the wait.
