A cup of coffee.

So I recently opened it up and used it and it's fucking fantastic with a capital F.

Ten times better than Starbucks and for home coffee a little expensive but you can get k-cup pods for about 40 cents a piece from Amazon. Still a lot cheaper than outside wherever you go.

Maybe a little hazelnut Coffeemate or half and half and a bit of stevia instead of sugar and i have a perfect cup of coffee.

Agreed I love it too. I asked for one for Christmas and my grandmother bought me one I cant say how much I love my coffee and my coffee maker!! I didnt know about the Amazon deal on the cups I will go look now. I usually buy them on sale at bed bath and beyond. Last week I found Ralphs by my house was clearancing them so I bought em out at 1.49 a box I got new flavors I have never tried like Black Silk but I figured if I didnt like them I can always give them to guests..

Love the Chemex,i've got the 3-cupsize,the 'half-moon' filters for these add a nice little ritual,as they require some origami.
IMHO the pricedifference is too small(especially compared to other costs) for me to really be of any bother.
And if you like pourovers,i highly recommend the hario buono kettle,that gives you great control.
As for the aeropress i have to admit,i don't use it all anymore.
If i want more body i either use the FP or the Technivorm with the swiss goldfilter,if i want it clean and bright it's the Chemex or the Technivorm with a hempfilter.

Although not active for some time,i'm also a member of the forum there,nice company and folks!

And forgot to mention i also use a doublewalled Bodum pavina for the larger midday- or eveningcup,great for keeping it hot,but be warned...sadly breakable as hell!.

Ditto. First learned to roast on West-Bend Poppery from info from their then mailing list subscription.

We have a medium Chem ex kept as we sadly broke our small 1-3 cup Chemex about 4-5 years ago. I still have some small filters left for the 1-3 origami style though so I am thinking about getting another, to use the filters, lol.
Have you used the Kone stainless steel filter for the chemex? I wonder how much sediment passes through and how compares to paper.
My first post in this thread, I meant the clever pour over from sweet marias, they are great, I mean sm.

I haven't done that,but based on the swiss gold filter,i'd certainly expect a fair degree of sediment and some more 'body'.

To really nail it down,the clever coffee dripper that'd probably be.

I have ordered from the US with sweet maria's,but my main source of green beans are European based stores like : ongebrand(dutch for unroasted) and from a local store that gets it from here.

And indeed fresh coffee rules,not many people realise that after 2,3 weeks after roasting the quality will drop steadily.
So the dates on beans on the shelves('don't use by/best before' mean nothing,but you can work back to the actual roastdate by looking at how much time the brand states it stays 'fresh')basically will usually tell you your coffee is way too old.

though about the k cups, but i'm sticking with my capresso burr grinder and stainless steel french press. because i've broken about a half dozen glass ones :/

The k cups just seem wasteful to me and the coffee is pre-ground - read stale - so it's a no go. plus I can't use the coffee grounds in the compost pile.

I do know people who would probably trade their firstborn for a Keurig though...

I love to drink coffee.

I mainly make it at home unless I'm working, on a date, or have coupons or gift cards for a chain coffee place.

I just use a Melitta filter basket, paper filters, and I use fresh ground coffee beans (this is key) and it tastes great and better than a Keurig machine. I only drink 1 cup at a time so this works great for me. I have a Melitta pour over coffee maker that makes more than one cup but I haven't used it in awhile.

I have a GE coffee maker and it was $10 on sale at walmart and it works fine but I just use that for when guests come over and want more than one cup of coffee at a time and it has a filter and makes coffee that to me tastes like a French press.

I also sometimes use a French press but I make sure the coffee is ground properly for it.

I own a stovetop espresso maker or Moka pot and that also works well. I'd like an espresso machine but they're very expensive and the stovetop Moka pot works fine.

I've tried K-cup coffee, and tea since my doctor's office has a machine and it's OK but I can make a better cup of coffee at home myself by doing what I wrote about above and grinding the coffee.

If someone gave me a K-cup machine for a gift I'd be OK with that and use it then.

I think this thread deserves a revisit, 'cause for me………….the Aerobie Aeropress remains the King. I STILL LOVE this thing. Makes the best cup ever AND, it's so damn easy to clean, and…………it's cheap. The ONLY downside is that you use more coffee with it, but man, having all that coffee flavor without ANY bitterness whatsoever still blows me away.

make sure your aeropress is the newer tinted plastic not the older clear plastic. older model had BPA plastic.


also get one to use for alcohol extraction, just use extra filters. its as easy as making coffee

Yup. I have the newer tinted one. I think I got it as soon as it was released a few years ago.

We have a Keurig brewer and love it.

I have a Keurig, myself. I haven't used it in a while, but I love the variety of flavor and ease of using the k-cups. Favorite blend so far is a french toast holiday one. Had a hint of cinnamon and syrup. I like my coffee sweet. ;p The fiance enjoys it for brewing hot chocolate.

had a few k cups and used them with a malital one cup cone coffee maker, the one that sits on top of the cup. 1/2 half of a k cup is all thats needed for a mug of coffee. don't really have room for the machine. don't even use the pavoni lever pull any more. ain't gots no room

For those that use the AeroPress, check this out. Got it about a month ago. Lovin' it.

The only downside with the AeroPress is the amount of coffee that's required per cup. With this filter, I was able to cut the amount of coffee that I use per cup by 25% and still able to maintain the same strength with even an improved taste over the paper filters.

Similar to how vapes help conserve your bud, this filter will pay for itself within the first few months of use.

HIGHLY recommended for all AeroPress users.

PS..........The filter is sooo fine, that it leaves absolutely no grounds in the bottom of the cup, even with a fine grind.
