Discontinued The Grasshopper

@Cheesequake, your experience sounds great so far. Three bowls on one battery is insane!

Would you mind shining a light inside the herb chamber and telling us what you see? Is it the white screen with blue temp sensor? You should be able to tell without removing the silver screen.

My SS model with the white screen has noticeably better airflow than my Ti with the blue screen.

Thanks so much @Cheesequake! I don’t see any temp sensor. That may be a good sign, perhaps it is under the white screen now. Here’s a pic of my SS, you can clearly see the blue sensor:

Are there more holes and smaller for the heater? Also the holes don't even look round :p

Also just wanted to point out some classic hopper lab stuff

Or if your hopper is messed up. My stainless steel flashes blue on a fresh battery while building up heat at the back end unless I twist the dial back and forth a few times. Then it doesn't flash and works at full power. Regardless of what HL says, in my experience flashing blue lights (unless your battery is actually close to dead) mean you have a problem with your device.
Agreed. Mine 2

Made a video with the new blue hopper vaping some incredible Pineapple Kush through my bubbler. Made sure to show the lights so you could see heat up time and (lack of) flicker while drawing. I'm in love with this thing. Although I'm vaping way more weed than normal which isn't good for my wallet. Not because it's inefficient, but it's just so much damn fun to use. High temp hits seem to taste better from this new hopper too, may just be in my head but it seems pretty noticeable.

so, not trying to troll or anything lol
it's just that i've been busy and can't really read that many pages back.

thing is:
- GH is by far the most expensive vape i own. I've had to deal with customs, delays and extremely high taxes, whatever
- i thought this would the end all to all vapes
- haven't used it more than 5 minutes in the last year, after having spent a lot on accessories, batteries etc
- already exchanged unit one time, as it didn't work

- It still doesn't work, at all, as it should. To the point where i just put it away and have been using a vaporizer that is 10 times cheaper...

Still the blue light flickers on full batt. Unit disconnects randomly, you can't ever use it without constantly looking at the lights. Full battery lasts almost nothing. It simply doesn't feel good using, the vapor doesn't seem "full" as it used to...
My question:
-Should i RMA? Are the new units the same BS as the old? Is the company going to stick around? So far this is the worst investment i've ever made (and i've bought a sinking sailboat once..)

All question that I dont think I could answer and be 100% certain of the answer but only RMA it ONES and its your most expensive vape?

really just wanna end this with "cry me a river" for comedic effect but little too douche-baggy :D

it has improved over the years, maybe not as much as people wanted, I got other vapes but still this always been my daily driver, good luck guessing how long it lasts because that been showed to be bit random (mine 3-12 months) and send it in 3 times?

costs me about 8-10 dollar each time + use the change to get new batteries

I am in Sweden

that about it I can tell you because rest is just guesses, but hopper giving up the ghost is kind of a part of it, reason being for the crazy life time warranty

problem is that I yet been impressed with a vaporizer under 200 dollars that also is "convection" + "removable battery" + "makes huge clouds instantly" + "not shitty chips apart plastic"

also this fucker comes with life time warranty

I own things that cost 10x more then a hopper and come with 2 year warranty

did I mention the life time warranty ?

so sell your hopper if uncertain, make back some bucks or become a hopper head :borg:

then you can save your frustration for company communication, deadlines :cuss: and hope that hopper labs income is enough to keep that sweet life time warranty going for at least 4-5 more years

I use my hopper daily and maybe 2% of the time it in DMR  I love it

Only RMA'd once because it didn't fix anything and i don't want the company to keep spending money replacing one piece of garbage with another..
Also, sometimes when things cause you much frustration, you simply ignore them and wait until a fix is found..
Also, likes being subjective, i haven't had to patience to rma it more often because a goddamn 'M', which costs 50 bucks, works every single time (i know, GH owners have forgotten what it is to have a piece of equipment that actually works, it's a novel concept..)

so sell your hopper if uncertain

edit: we won't have no solicitation here, another important side question!

Lifetime Warranty? That was a good selling point for me, but i don't think the company will be around this time next year, let alone a lifetime. Companies whose products fail more than they work have a tendency to go out of business.

Highest retail price I found for the Hopper is EUR 240, that'd be USD 280. What vaporizer is there for some 30 Dollars that would remotestly (I guess that's not a word but I want the maximum comparative form of "remotely") replace a Hopper? If a working Hopper doesn't impress you the most of all vapes, then maybe you're immune to the Hopper virus.

BTW: you last posting may count as solicitating which afaik is restricted here to the classifieds http://fuckcombustion.com/forums/classifieds.29/

Take my money
Reading this thread after being out for a while... Damn, still got a lot of complain about this vape. I feel so lucky to have come across a good quality hopper !! Got blue flickers light and a click sound since day one on my stainless unit, but i’m using it every day of the week for 13 month now, without a single problem !
I only use my hopper on the go , so never through water.

the "hopper virus" is strong, i'm getting to see that :D

i asked a simple question: should i RMA or will the BS remain the same? Answers? None.
I didn't know i'd have to break out the calculator to address these extremely important side questions, but there are other costs involved, such as import taxes, accessories which are useless if the product doesn't work ( the PFE alone cost me 60 euros, plus batteries, also taxed). Plus shipping.

i wasn't bashing gh or comparing it with others, but i do have a right to show my discontent with a subpar product. that's all there is to it.

You've asked a question about reliability of the Hopper since this new, major improvement roll-out. The reason you've gotten no answers is that there is no track record yet on said improvements; we're all on equal footing on this question, no one knows.

So all the rest of your complaints, while justified by your experience, may just be irrelevant at this point in the timeline. Having no time to read and catch up with 'current events' simply isn't enough excuse to ask others for their opinion, against which you simply seem to argue.

My suggestion is that, if you have any patience left, wait another couple of months until we see how this new/improved Hopper is working, and you may decide to re-assert you warranty.

As far as comparisons go, I know very little about inexpensive vapes, but I do know that a properly functioning Grasshopper's vapor production can hold it's own when compared to some expensive, high quality vapes, like the Mighty, for example.

This would suffice. Or would i need to read the last 100 pages to know?

To reiterate, i asked a simple question to avoid spending the company time and money. I'm sorry i'm not in this thread everyday and not 'hip' to the happenings and whatnot. I always regarded FC as a family so i never thought it'd be a drama asking these questions....i even prefaced it as to avoid any trouble and the replies are all like this? i think i got the wrong forum.

I don't think anyone has any issue with you asking questions. Perhaps waiting for more replies before posting a second time might have been helpful in this case, as other users would have been able to fill you in on the whole picture, which is as follows:

As @vapviking has said, they've only started shipping out "upgraded" Hoppers over the past few weeks, and only a small segment of users on this forum have received theirs. It's too early to tell if the "upgraded" hoppers will be more reliable, and the sample size of users with them is also too small — for the moment.

And you have and i personally find this forum slightly too strict about deleting people's complaining rants though it's also needed

But what I am just coming your that the grasshopper still has kinks
but they and a lot still put up with because we are supportive of the tech hopper labs is trying create

I think we gone through 4-5 oven designs over the last few years and some way more on the inside

Non of us have had to pay extra for the hopper 2 or hopper 3, it comes with the life-time-of-the-company warranty

Its just "hopper" and they are going to make it perfect or die trying

The main problem that i see is the pen shapes but they insist they can make it work

Right how its still one of the most powerful electronic vape on the market and that includes portable AND DESKTOP

But yeah might just crap out on you in X months .. Said this before and say it again

We are race car owners of the vape world, alot of power = alot of stress = easy breaky

With all due respect, your “simple question” is asking us to predict the future. With Hopper Labs you never truly know what the future holds in store. Combine that with a newly revamped production process and you should be able to plainly see that there is no way possible to even estimate future reliability.

Over the past couple of years reliability has seemingly increased, although at a very slow rate. Of course, we can’t even talk about the past reliability accurately due to the lack of transparency from Hopper Labs.

If that's what you think, I don't get how you would ask

especially given that for you the VapCap M seems to be doing about the same as the Hopper does. I have one and I don't think they're even playng the same game. All people are saying is that nobody can predict the future, so it'd be best to assume it's going on like this, so if I were you, I'd probably sell it asap. Nobody's criticizing you for anything you say, nobody's calling you a troll, all is fine. I still don't seem to get you point here, but I'm a little slow.

I've been watching this thread fairly regularly for about a year now.
I doubt there is a more fraught thread on FC.

There have certainly been a myriad of reasons to frustrate and anger customers, and many of these really don't seem acceptable by practically anyone's standards.

But it is clear that a working hopper is a wonderful thing, and the design concept of the device eclipses every other battery vape by a mile.

Thank you @Cheesequake for your reports and first look at this latest revision of the hopper. It seems very encouraging, particularly the jump in battery life, as the whole one bowl per battery situation I've read so many times here is not very tempting at all.
I look forward to hearing further performance and reliability updates from you and other users of this latest gen hopper

I'd love to feel confident enough to pay for a hopper one day, but I'm in no rush as proper use of a vapcap will (to quote @WakeAndVape) 'melt your face off':whoa:
