Milaana II by RastaBuddahTao

I have a new technique using the Mi2 through water and boyyyyyy is it fuckin gnarly.

Basically I preheat 3 seconds or so as normal, and instead of jumping right into thick clouds, I ride the medium temp for a good while. The vapor consistently pours in. Middle of the hit I hold the button down full throttle and don't let off of it. I do this for a few seconds before totally ramping up my draw rate. Because the temp was rising during those few seconds of holding it down without pulsing, the increased drawrate quickly catches up and levels it out while bringing in just ridiculous amounts of vapor very very quickly.

Between your written updates and the usage videos I'm able to vape with the mi2 vicariously through you lol. But seriously, love the updates dude. I get more stoked for the mi2 everytime you post lol

I've been using and talking about accelerating inhalation riding the button with the Mi1 for some time. Glad you can manage it on the Mi2.
Great minds think alike. I used that method sometimes with the Mi1 but not all the time. I seem to be having more success with the Mi2 as that extra restriction really thickens the vapor with a hard pull and makes it easy for the heater to keep up.

Hey man! Been a while!
Glad you're enjoying em! I should post more but I feel like I'm just flooding the thread so I don't always post here.
To all the silent viewers out there, I post more videos on IG so I'm not constantly double posting here.

Literally just added the video right before I read these demonstrating the technique. Hard to tell in the video, but the results are clearly a success haha.

@AJS What happened to your Mi2? Saw your post in the Zion thread. :(
Hey man. Was just about to make a post! I'll just copy what I sent to RBT to make things easy for myself haha. Also thanks for quoting it in the Mi2 thread to stay on topic :)

The glass came out of my Mi2 :(
It could be potentially my fault as I believe I put more stress on it than most people. For example I leave it in the car when I'm at work and it can get mighty hot in there in Florida as you know. Also I use a 14mm reducer which pulling on that could've stressed the glue and the glass over the months. Also I rotate the Mi2 sometimes on my bubbler, although it does slide smooth.I pushed it back in and it's staying put for the time being so that's good.

RBT said he skipped a few steps in the process as I believe this was just a beta unit used to test the new inlet concept. I'm not concerned there will be many future problems :)

I honestly figured this is what happened with it being a beta unit. Thanks for the reply! I don't think there'd be any problems either.

I'm excited for the Mi2 after reading your results regarding being ready to go. Your example of gaming was perfect because that's where I'm struggling with the vapes I currently own (including Mi1 and Zion) They are great and sure they do rip but can take a few seconds to get ready which I don't always have. Seems like the Mi2 will be great for that.

Yeah haha I think this epoxy is way too nice to melt in a hit car no matter the location. If I recall correctly old Zions were baked in ovens that well exceeded outside temperatures and shit held up

Sorry to hear @AJS but it is a right of passage for a beta tester, my original Milaana prototype glass came undone since it barely had any epoxy too. In good company

Please forgive my ignorance, but is the Milaana 2 being assembled with epoxy? The glass piece that receives the glass stem is held in place using epoxy? Wouldn't that produce some unwanted off-gassing or something? It also seems that over time, the repeated heating this area receives would negatively effect the integrity of the bond between the glass, epoxy, and wood due to expansion and contraction. Does anyone know what the tolerances are for the epoxy being used? If the epoxy is FDA approved, is it approved for an application that will expose it to repeated heating and cooling. Having worked as an engineer in the food processing industry, there is a lot of material deemed safe for incidental contact with food during processing that would not be approved during its preparation. I could be wrong, but I have never heard of an epoxy that would remind stable and inert when exposed to the kind of temperatures produced by the Milaana's heater. Does anyone have any documented information regarding the safety of the epoxy when used in an application like the Milaana? Not being a buzz killer or anything, just curious for my own sake.

It's a 2 part FDA medical grade epoxy that is only used on the female joint rim to the wood. The epoxy is distanced from the heater and NOT in the airpath.

Ryan gave the epoxy's name in an IG livestream, but I cannot remember the name.

Hope that helps. ✌

Being medical grade kind of suggests it is not intended to be used in this type of application, unless there is somewhere in the human body that is subject to repeated heating in excess of 400 degrees. I wonder why it is medical grade if there is no concern about it being in the airpath? There must be other epoxies that could tolerate the temperatures generated by the heater if the vapor pathway is not an issue?

The female glass rarely gets too hot to touch. In other words nowhere near 400. Also the glass is glued to a wooden rim, and the airpath starts below that rim. The adhesive should be sealed off because of that rim. Also FDA medical grade because anything else would be taboo here.

It is medical bc people feel more safe with that, but there had been extensive testing years ago revealing the area where the epoxy is used does not see temps anywhere close to 400F (it is rated for 500) no matter how hot the heater gets. The wood body outside the glass sheething the heater will burn black before the epoxy is even affected if I recall correctly. I'd suggest doing searches in the OG Milaana and Zion threads if youre still curious as it has been addressed many times before. Hope this helps

@CL52613 Found it. Loctite M-121HP. FYI, the website is no longer supported. ✌

Apologies if this has been asked before. The inner glass section has come away from the rest of the wood section on my milaana. Looks like it was held in with some kinda glue. On the website they say they use Loctite M-121HP. Finding that hard to get in the UK. Any other suggestions?

Milaana 2 is a real nice improvement in my opinion. I think it's safe to say it objectively achieves thicker vapor faster. The only possible downside I can really see, and it is totally subjective, would be the tighter airflow. But this is what also makes the vapor quality and density of the Mi2 so high. Now that I've used it, I would never go back to the old form unless for nostalgia reasons most likely... this just seems like an all around better vape.

I’ve never had the pleasure of using a Milaana and with the new updates to the Mi2 sometimes I wonder if people will prefer the old to the new.

And it gives me pause at which to get when the 2 comes out.

Thanks for sharing your opinion for something that’s been rattling around in my brain AJS!

I can't wait for more of these to get out. I am interested to hear from owners/former owners of the original. I suspect some of those no longer using/owning might have gotten rid of it because of the open airflow. They may like the II better.

No doubt some will prefer the open flow and they may be dissatisfied with the II. Personally I'm with @AJS . The II is just plain easier to use but it can be used in a more complex way as well with the carb. It's kinda the best of both worlds and it's smaller as a bonus.

Does anyone know if there is Mica present in this version like there is in the original? Forgive me if this has been asked already :)

dying to get my hands on one. My Milaana is my main DD but the slightly more restricted airflow I am interested in. I have been charring more frequently recently and believe this would be a help. When are they supposed to be available?

Splinter has priority as Ryan has a sizable order to complete for @VapeFiend.com (as well as the wait list) but Milaana II will be coming along as well. I think Ryan may have his brother helping him on the Milaana II so that should speed things up.

Edit button gone:

Took the Milaana II on a little road trip recently. I keep changing my stem screen setup but right now I'm back on the shorty stock stems with the old school RBT screens recessed well down into the joint and then I'm using top hats to cap it off. In the past I just kept the top hats on but nowadays they are mostly used for storage only and removed while in use. I have a couple 7th floor mouthpiece stems where I do the same thing. It provides the largest chamber capacity, purest taste and is easiest to control in my opinion.

Just love going back to the manual control of the Milaana and with a few stems packed up it was smooth for the ride.
