... @JigMelon thanks for the vid but thats how you set up the hexnail, its not how to use the ui solely connected to the accesspoint not on your own network...

EDIT: i can only get to the network setup page not the dashboard ui for operating the hexnail itself...

I'm heading to bed right now (I work overnight) but I'll try it out myself and post my method or failure tomorrow/tonight.

This is great news for them and should be a huuuuuuge boost in product awareness.

While Id agree with the top 1 and 2, I do have to say I hate High Times lists, half of the units are barely classifiable full enails and they don't even mention the great units from Auber, Errlectric, or the new dnail betas or anything with an Omron controller......and to say a bootsy ass Mypin powered pelinail (which i own in addition to the Hex and Kube) is the 3rd best enail is just plain ignorant.

What model is the one pictured? it looks like a super Skynet with a 7 inch screen.

How much larger is the hn01vs hn02

That picture was making me rethink.y hn02 order. I found an old pic from page 39 that has the two together. Thanks

What are your thoughts on kubeone vs hex nail?

OK Here's what I did:

1. HN is connected to WiFi w/ internet, went to webapp > Settings > WiFi Settings

2. I don't see a disconnect button so I chose to connect to another network with an incorrect password. After the attempt timed out, my HN was flashing yellow/green.

3. Checked phone, didn't see AP, power-cycled HN (power off, unplug power cord, turn switch on to purge residual power, wait 10 secs, turn switch off, plug in cord, power on), AP is visible, connect to AP.

4. Open browser, navigate to https://192.168.142.1 - This is port 443, not 8710 or 8443 - This is the webapp, but my HN does not appear in the devices list.

Port 80 - Closed
Port 443 - Webapp, doesn't see HN
Port 8443 - Secure WiFi setup
Port 8710 - Insecure WiFi setup

I couldn't even access the other ports with the domain name; only via IP. Not sure why I recall being able to use this from the AP; I was mistaken.

All of this should be on hex-nail.com, whether local or online, and the port shouldn't be exposed. They need to setup a reverse proxy so that they can map subdomains or subdirectories to ports that are open, and those ports (other than 80/443) should only be accessible via localhost. app.hex-nail.com, wifi.hex-nail.com, for example. @HexNailAva @HexNailLiz Feel free to PM me about this; I don't want to step on your toes or give out information that isn't meant to me publicly available.

What are your thoughts on kubeone vs hex nail?

An easy comparison would be iOS vs Android, where the Kube is iOS to Hexs Android.

Sure, at the end of the day the Hex can do more things, profiles, more nail tunes, PID fine tuning, dab logging, remote network control (speaking for the current software on my 01) and eventually might have solid web control also......but its also, IMO, much, MUCH less stable then a Kube, has many open software issues, including full hard locks of the unit, randomly powering the coil down despite showing its on, (etc etc as this isn't a hex bashing post) that "will be fixed in the new software" thats been hyped for literally 6 months with the only light at the end of the tunnel being a tiny handful of guys on IG that have seen a 01 running the new software. Like Android the Hex lets you fiddle with its nuts and bolts....for better or perhaps worse.

The Kube, with its latest update of last week, can do ~85% of all the extra goodies a Hex can do, but your actual options and customization of is really limited to changing the lights on the controller and your temps, you only have 4 nail profiles, you can't easily edit or tweak your PID values, nor is there any logging or modifying the temp chart readout to actually make it useful. It does however, work 99.999999999% of the time...flawlessly. It uses BTLE for ALL of its connectivity and only needs an iOS or android device that has BTLE to control and update everything, there is no lag trying to set it up, no fiddling with wifi modes or having to have a router, no possible requirement for any iot shenanigans.......much like iOS, it may not be able to do literally everything.....but it just works. edit: Also should point out if you don't have a device to control the Kube, or you're trying to be super quick, it has a physical soft button to turn the coil off and on to the last set temp, aside from the normal power switch...I hope to eventually see enhanced use of the soft button.

I was hoping the 02 would be literally Hex spin on a Kube, but, again for better or worse, they aimed for a much more connected unit with smart home integration.

I think the Hex can ultimately yield better performance then the Kube......but the Kubes out of the box experience is, no exaggeration, nearly flawless.

Having said all that, I can't imagine not having both + an Omron based controller......but Im silly and like dabs a little too much maybe. #firstworldproblems

funny ive never had any issues with my original first round Skynet HN-01. Only bad thing I can say is the Dab OS/2 update has been pushed way beyond what I first expected. Good luck guys!

Ironically enough I switch on my Hex this morning to (yet again) repeat errors about the file system being hosed and it flat refusing to boot in any ways...... took 4 full switch off and power ons before it'd break out of being broken.

If you've had a 1st round og Skynet and have had zero issues with it locking up, slowing the UI, random coil off or ons, or +-30 degree temp swings....then count yourself lucky then as numerous folks have chimed in with the same ongoing issues on several units, including my own, that Id classify as stuck in "Limp home mode"

Im just curious if the OG software is gonna fully nuke itself on more units before DabOS finally drops to the masses.

And again, the Hex is a beast, when it works correctly......

I am still on the fence between KubeOne and the HN02. I have to say all this waiting on units and delays on fixes is definitely pushing me in direction of AH. I really love the idea behind the Red Queen but it seems the execution is no there yet. What is the rough % of HN units that are not functioning properly?

I'm not sure what the ratio is but I think that @ensabbahnur is experiencing the worst performance.
That has got to be a bit infuriating.
My HN-01 had some run away heating of the coil that bleached the color from my Ti Liger buckets and cracked an insert (which was not to big of a deal for the former, and @HexNailAva & CO offered great CS for the later).

That was caused by a bug in the software related to the HN-01 storing too much data.
Turning the unit off daily solved that issue and I have not experienced it since I began that regimen.

To be honest, I am extremely pleased with my HN-01 and would be hard pressed to live without it.
In fact, I am somewhat reticent to update my current software to the new OS2 (when it is finally released), as I am currently dabbing better than ever.

:peace:

edit: my HN-01 was built near the end of their production.

Of course the forums are going to be full of people complaining. People get upset when the forums are just echo chambers of posting their good experiences, and forums are a nice way to get support quickly for various issues.

Mine works great, but I occasionally have issues with getting a stable connection on one of my devices and my unit will occasionally turn on the heater at will (that is if I leave the unit ON but turn off the heater - if I powered off the unit, this wouldn't be an issue... and, since I'm pretty much staring at a heated up unit that lacks functionality due to no connection being made, it's frustrating trying to get this resolved)

I was also told we are very close to the update dropping, which I'm pretty sure will fix most of the issues I'm having since they're stupid, small things. If my issues don't get fixed, I will be the first to post here so that everyone can know what to expect (and so I can get help. I don't post to shit on anyone's parade - I post/complain so I can get a solution)

edit: also I have a HN-02 and I think problems with these are different than the problems with the HN-01s

To be clear I'm in no way shape or form saying the Hex are predisposed to having issues or they have any inherent flaws.....I am however saying that Id be willing to put money on there being significantly more units with at least 1 issue, then there are 100% completely flawless, running totally as advertised units in the wild. Its true message boards tend to favor complaints vs praise for products but the fact is, even the apologist posts often go "my unit works great...except XYZ" I personally only experience a few of the issues listed but we have seen multiple posts regarding screen issues, network issues, lock ups, slow downs, corrupt memory cards, poor quality finish, nails turning on, nails turning off, huge temp swings and overall temp instability. From a sheer time stand point, my unit does work 99% of the time, but the issues I have, have been going on for 9+ months and are rather frequent......certainly more frequent then a $500 bit of kit should have issues.

Now I haven't re read the entire Kube thread recently, and if someone wants they can keep me honest on this but I don't recall a single post with an issue of form or function aside from questions on features or how to do something.......so take that for what its worth.

Again, both the Hex and the Kube are great nails with tons of features and are the top of the line when it comes to enail controllers, and I love my Hex and use it daily right next to my Kube and is coincidently my "main" enail, but still having said all that, Id wager just about anything, that a Kube will be a smoother experience in the long run.

@JigMelon I have sent the info you posted to Ava and Liz and will get back to you or they might reach out directly. But one of us will keep you posted =)

the latest patch is so very close and it did get pushed out, so there was time to make sure any loose ends can be caught and corrected. Software is not always a simple thing and setting hard timelines can be dangerous. The patch will have a list of updates to improve the overall performance and user experience. I am working on getting more info around what is changing on the next patch and have heard the older touch screen units have been working exceptionally well on the new OS (YASSS)

I wanted to cover one other item. There are 2 of them and thats it!!! They are completely devoted to the Hexnail and its evolution. Once round 2 is all wrapped up, round 3 will move much faster as they have all the kinks worked out and its just a matter of producing the units as quickly as possible and getting them out to the customers in as short a turn around as possible.

I am not trying to make any excuses and am just asking for everyone to hang in there and know it will be well worth the wait.

Lastly, please hit me up with any questions or concerns and I will get you the info you are looking for as quickly as possible =)

As far as I can tell, reasonably priced ( under $60 or so), flat-top 25mm quartz bangers with 14mm male joints are completely sold out EVERYWHERE! I am almost to the point where I’m desperate enough to order some of that crap from dhgate.com!

Does anyone have any pro tips for size spend more money ?
