How to use a digital e-nail to vaporize dry herbs (convection)

noticeable ... so much so, that i would never sell a product with nichrome60 ... the nichrome80 always looks brand spanking new.

Wow! So I'm gonna start searching around for a nichrome80 e-nail coil because both types of coils I have I got 2 years ago, and the they are ever so slightly dark and a bit rougher to the touch than the "wand/handle"

Here my progress:

Contacted a local scientific glassblower about a prototype, he's afraid borosilicate doesn't resist to a lot of thermal expansion/retraction cycles, he think quartz might be a better choice but would be more expensive...

Contacted an enail supplier and I'm able to get already a decent price for controller+coil+Tinail&carbcap, I'm just try to figure if the ti nail is a good option (or not) to get in the package... although he wasn't able to certify what the coil are made of, for the moment i only asked what they made of without to specify any preference (i know some guys could lie to get a sale...). Also i'm thinking a lot of people already own a controller so I'm thinking to sell only the vaporizer and you'll have to connect it to your own controller. I know there is 110v and 220v coils, is there some other reason a coil doesn't work with every controller?

Now I'm torturing my brain to find a way to build a sort of shell cause I don't want the user to be afraid to burn himself (or to burn his house) and it will make the vaporizer a lot more versatile since I want it will offer water fltration, direct inhalation, whip, bags and double decker. The shell (shield?) will add a lot of reliability too since you will not be afraid to break something.

About the stems and accessories, glass would be done by the glass blower and for the wood stems and wongs I will try to do it with my wife Or (if too difficult for us) i will contact somebody else (EdTnt, EpicVape or Rastavapa ).

I'm dreaming wake up now...but my friends, even if I'm not objective, i can tell you how hard and tasty this vape rips, a beast!

So as far as the different voltages for coils I think (but am not certain) different countries/continents supply different values of electricity standard through their wall sockets. So it's not so much about the coil as it is about how much and at what levels the electricity must be supplied to maintain proper functionality. However, your coils are rated for electrical resistance so they are a direct reflection of the electricity desired.

Ever notice how North American electrical plugs differ so greatly in looks when compared to say a European standard plug. It's partially so you can't just ram in a foreign plug from a foreign electronic whose operation demands a different standard of electricity (which could honestly be fatal worst case scenario). You can get adapters which allow SOME domestic appliances to function abroad. I think Europe is 220v/50 and North America is 110v/60. Not 100% on those numbers though and all of this is just what I've come to understand through tryin to figure out which electronics work for me in my region when buying from international distributors online.

Some news of my Volute DIY setup.

Lately I wasn't using it cause I moved my vaping gear in another room and I put the Volute in a box. This morning, after several months to use exclusively the Herborizer Ti, I'm totally impressed how smoother is the vapor from the Volute, and tastier too!

To remind everybody what is the Volute, here a short description:
The Volute is a enail controller+16mm barrel coil+custom ceramic piece which fits in a 18mm female glass joint with a screen (the bowl). So, all in all, it's pretty similar to the Flowerpot except I'm using ceramic and glass in place of SS steel. I can carb cap it too but rarely do it except when doing double decker.

My favorite temp is a symbolic 666°F, the devil t°!

In my opinion this is a setup every vaporist can do it himself using parts from others vaporizers (I got a lot!). I would like to test a FlowerPot to see how it compares to this device...

edit: I don't think anymore to manufacture it... too much hassle and pain and I have a lot of others things to do.

Here the promised pics of my setup (which works so nice I'm thinking to let the Ti to go for another home...):
wCxBTq4.jpg

The white part is a sort of ceramic's crucible, very thick, and the bottom part fits in the 18mm male joint, the load is between the bottom of the ceramic (this part is never hot enough to combust a load but it's better to load small enough to avoid any contact... and conduction!) and a basket screen. My average load is 0.1 but I can load twice this amount without any issue.

My controller is a cheap one from GreenlightVape (the cheaper from them), mostly I use a symbolic 666°F which gave me a perfect roasting and the ability to "double decker" small amount of wax ( I paint the internal wall of the ceramic crucible, most is vaporized before to reach the bowl, it happens if you use a large dab but it's not wasted since it will soak in your flowers!).

This is a very cheap and efficient setup and the best is how smooth are the clouds! I can't believe the amount of exhaled vapor there is without even a single pain in the throat, surprisingly it doesn't seems to milk a lot (in the bubbler) until you are exhaling a large cloud. In this way it is similar to the MiniVap or Herbalaire. The only thing I don't like is the super-hot exposed coil&parts, I would like to be able to find a sort of shield...

Thanks for looking!

Dude nice! Love my flowerpot, but I still long for a quartz/glass device and it doesn't sound like Newvape has manufacturing capabilities for that.

Volute day today since the rain keep me inside.
I use it a lot more dry in conduction mode (like the first pics I posted but with a stem instead of a wong) with a glass stem from the Vaporcup I sold.
I must to decrease t° until the 500-600°F range and get immediate clouds production from a tiny load of moist flowers. I think the ceramic mass helps to get a quick heat transfer and the add of a hint of convection helps to fastened things.

Vapor is very smooth and I can't believe the amount of clouds I'm blowing out, taste is very good for some draws, it dépends how long you keep the stem inserted, need to be carefully cause I think a combustion (not really but very close) might happen if inserted for a too long time.

If only I had a friend to help me to make a video (and some time too) I would show you how crazy clouds the Volute can produce, my vape room is full of vapor and the smell is amazing!
Actually I'm wrapping a piece of tasty moroccan hasch in a small layer of cotton, promise to be a nice vaping session.
Nice work @PPN! Must mean something to be selling your Herbo Ti like you said could happen!
Yes , to be honnest I was slightly worry I made a mistake but the better t° control, the conduction/convection aspect, easier to use dry, double decker and smooth clouds convinced me it was the right choice!

A short post to mention something interesting I noticed trying to use another bowl in convection mode. For this bowl I needed to invert the coil+ceramic to connect it to the bowl and got charring.... I think cause when not in use, the heat transfer more to the upper part of the ceramic, so when I use it inverted the hotter part is closer of the load and I char my load (no combustion happened but there was always a thin layer of weed scortched after every hit, even with small dose. With my classic bowl the ceramic is closer of the load but since it's the bottom I think there is a noticeable difference in t° which give me a perfect abv with a few stirs.

Actually I use more my HGL and mainly my MiniVap+HA tong for big hits sessions, but it's more cause convenience, my enail controller is plugged to an heavy duty power converter and I'm always afraid to let powered on when my daughter wake up.... I can't imagine what would happen if she touch it... I don't want (that's my main concern with this setup). That's why it didn't saw a lot of use this last month.

Hi, I got some issues with my power converter and controller.

After a few months being unused (summer) I tried to power my Volute. I powered on the power converter first and the controller after... it started to heat up for a few seconds before to shut down!

I checked and saw both fuses of the power converter and the controller was dead.

I replaced them but the power converter was a 2A fuse and I only got a 2.5A fuse, controller was 5A. I tried to power it again plugged somewhere else (in case of a bad plug) and got exactly the same issue, everything started well but shut down after a few seconds, both fuse are dead again.

Please, do you understand what happens here?

Now I only get 1.25A and 1.6A replacements fuses... I think I have to buy more but want to understand what happens here, please @JCat , do you have any idea?

ps: something strange is my controller is supposed to be 110v and it's mentionned to use only 250v fuses and it's the same with where there the main power cable. Just to mention, this setup was working well for several years of light use (several times per week in average but a lot less this last year).

Doesn’t sound like the fuse specifically ... but something causing the fuse to blow ... the s the heater heating up at all? Maybe a short in your heater coil that appears as it heats up?

Oh yes, I'll try another coil, maybe that's the cause since I stretched it slightly to fit the Elev8r heater!
Thanks for the input!
