I sent my Mighty in for RMA (for a few cracks in the top), and having the Crafty as my only portable is really stonking good for now!

It's my favorite portable so far, very simple with one button and you can set the time to turn off just right so you don't even have to press the button again.

I'm only three weeks in so far and I agree it might be silly to have one as your only vape, for heavy use or through water.
But it could easily be someones only portable vape for a while if they were "sensible". It was probably designed for short walks and is good for lying in bed.
I think 5 or 6 capsules for a short walk would be hectic enough for nearly anyone.

Maybe a Crafty 2 will have swap out proprietary batteries like the new HR Fierce because it's safer than bare 18650. We'll see!

I wanted to post a nice Crafty pic, but I was either in a crap place, or in a nice place and forgot my camera!

I'm using a sunglasses pouch for keeping it clean. I'm going to check around locally for a good sized holder.
I was disappointed I couldn't find a dirt cheap case with free P+P the exact size of the Crafty on ebay, like this type of one that I got for the Mighty:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/External-H...729306?hash=item1ed43c211a:g:BnEAAOSwtZVZtlxn

If anyone knows of one please let me know, thanks!
Crafty love haha,
Rocking light vape!

Hey @blackstone, check out the RYOT small PackRatz case. Fits like a glove! Hope this link works...

https://www.ryot.com/ryotr-packratztm-small-with-smellsafer-technology-in-black.html

Thanks yeah that's one I was going to mention, it's out of stock in my nearest store so I signed up for a reminder just there.
Sounds like it will be worth it.
Does it have a replaceable absorbing element that needs replacing every now and then or have I got that part wrong?
Probably just works good in the first place.

I've also found to use these silicone ecig tips on Mighty and Crafty is very handy in some cases.

This is a good deal on what is probably a very lightly used Crafty in @VapoShop (EU) if you were to use the FC code.
It comes with free secure home delivery and a 1 year warranty so you could get well looked after if anything went wrong.
https://www.vaposhop.com/refurbished/crafty-refurbished/

It might suit somebody looking for a used Crafty or waiting for a good version of a new vape. It would have suited me but I found a lightly used Crafty around my parts first!

If anyone is still on the fence and doesn't mind buying on eBay...
PSPRING20 is a 20% off coupon good for a couple more hours.
I pulled the trigger and got one for $175...not too shabby

Hi Gav,

The flashing red/yellow light could indeed be a common signal for other faults. If for example the heater burnt out or some how became open circuit. I doubt very much it is that though, most likely be the thermal fuse that is mounted at the bottom of the oven base mount/housing. If the base of the unit was getting noticabilly warmer towards the end of it's life this also points to the thermal fuse. If the fuse has blown you also need to test the heating element. It's resistance should be below 0.5ohms.

I'm not sure what's currently the best battery on the market, others on here or other forums will be able to help here. I have been happy with the Samsung 25R but the Sony VTC6 is a good cell I think. The same battery you get for the crafty would be good for the IQ you're after a battery that can sustain 15-20A discharge and hold it's voltage the longest while also not getting to warm.. usually the cells with lowest internal resistance achive the best discharge characteristics, although battery chemistry is being tweaked all the time so this may not be true with the latest cells.

Hey Mate just to update you, there is a video on how to fix the red/yellow light error, i followed the procedure and voila back to business my crafty is back....
Cheers

karec,
Hey everybody, I'm hoping for just a quick reply here. Finally getting back into vapes and my Crafty was DOA when I went to use it (12 hours only granted it was one of the first 2 thousand serial numbered devices). S&B sent a new replacement but I was planning on just reselling it, after some research on the new version I was intrigued and decided to break the seal and take it out of the box.

Struggled to get it to sync to my phone (how was I supposed to know there were O's instead of 0's in the serial number?!? Makes no sense!), but now for the life of me I can't find the setting to switch to Fahrenheit in the app. Lol did they take this out?!? I literally can't find it in any sub menu. I know the name of the app has changed since I used it last too, Remote Vap, but I assume its the same thing...

EDIT - Clicked on the letter C and it changed to F lol, but new issue. I can't set a temperature. It just shows 888 in the temperature set area. Like what a calculator display looks like when showing an 8. If I turn it on it seems to go up to like 356-360 or so on its own though.

New update... now the 888's turned to 104 *F (this is the number with the orange buttons to the left and right of it for up and down) -- yet nothing happens when I click those buttons, then number stays at 104. If I put it in boost mode it does attempt to heat up higher than the 356 spot. Granted the booster temperature part on the app just says +88 *F and I can't change it either.

Additionally the battery readout bar isn't always there on screen. Sometimes it is, sometimes its not. WTF did they do to this app? Or did I get a bunk Crafty? Fun first experience back into vaping lol.

thenamefittz,
Just tap on the temperature and it toggles between C/F.

:peace:
That's literally the only thing I've been able to figure out. I've updated my last post with all these new problems. It's ridiculous! D:

Editing for ease. But the crafty loves the number 8, that's the only number it wants to show in the booster or temp control. Finally on its own it switched the top 888's to 104 *F or 40 *C -- no matter what I can't seem to change it. Booster stays at + 88 *F or *C, either way the booster stays 88.

Additionally the battery bar is a hit or miss on whether it appears on the app screen or not while the crafty is on.

Posting this pic here so maybe I can get some help ASAP. This sucks because I'm just thinking about how I could have sold this and used that money to buy an oz or so instead, as of now it's just unusable via app. So it's unusable overall.

KUqVTDg.png

It's went back to 888's - whether its on, heating, plugged in, or off and cooling down. One out of three times it will switch to 104 *F or 40*C, but I can't change this. The battery gauge usually doesn't appear at all, this time it shows it as blank. If it shows it normally its usually full though, but most of the time it doesn't appear on screen.

thenamefittz,
@thenamefittz Are you sure your crafty is connected to it? Click on the Crafty tab and scroll down. Does it show serial number?

Yes it does, it's super weird. I managed get the temperature to actually change as I hit +/- one time, but the next time I turned it on and attempted to use it it was lost again. It's worth noting that when I first connected the app to it, after fully charging, it said the Crafty had low battery and needed charging. I turned it off and on again and then it seemed to work, but the battery bar has been iffy. So it could be my battery but I'm doubting that as its a new 5xxxx serial number one.

I have been reading a bunch of reddit and random forum posts over the past hour and it seems a couple other people had weird issues with theirs, but then it worked normally on the second day. My phone's up to date and so is the app, but I'm going to clear the cache and see what happens tomorrow.

Hey Guys I'm gifting my Crafty to a friend. What is the protocol for the app? Do I trash mine & he downloads his own ? But can he re-register mine as his? Someone must've gone threw this, no?

Yeah, he just needs to download the app and connect to the Crafty. No registration needed.

So I've been tinkering with this for a while and it is very odd, it seems after clearing the cache and uninstalling and reinstalling the app - it's now letting me set the temperature (no 888's) 5/6 times. The battery gauge is still missing most of the time though and the BOOST temp gauge was editable at first but now is stuck again.

If I change the time out settings and such it doesn't seem to change on the device itself, unless I try multiple times and reboot/refresh everything. I managed to run the battery life down and the app clocked it at 43 minutes, which is sort of disappointing as I expected more from the 20% battery but this first day could be just calibrating the battery slightly. My S7 is up to date and everything, so I'm going to contact S&B on it. I think there's a bluetooth issue going on, so I'd also like to test it with another phone to narrow down what's the culprit.

@Stu is correct, friend can just download the app, get Crafty in range and pair it with the device/app.
If I recall correctly, S&B do not have a registration protocol for the device itself, but if the unit is still under 2 yr warranty age, maybe providing friend with original receipt could help if it does need repair in the future.

Has the crafty vapor been tested other then being tested for thc content, tested for poisons, metals, as it turns out ecigs are really bad as the coils leak led into the juice and you are inhaling toxic levels of led. I know the volcano is recommended by health candada, so it's probably been tested.

Astedra,

Sometimes to stupid to become a fool
The volcano and mighty have a 'medic' version for the canadian market, but don't know what is tested to get that, it is the same as the normal version. The crafty is pretty much the same heater and path as the mighty, so i'd say nothing to worry on that department.
Btw the town in germany where S&B is located has traditionally a lot of industry for the medical sector, so that more 'medical appearance' is not only marketing talk, they have to be serious or they'll probably :goon: them out of town :D

Following up on my weird brand new crafty issue in-app. So today I had my roommate download the app and sync it to his phone, it worked but oddly says to clean the crafty each time it turns on. The bowl has been empty and never used with anything yet :/, the other night I never used it to vape with - only turned on to tinker with the app. So I guess you'd say it really has only had about 45 mins of burning off with an empty bowl.

On his phone every time he opened the app up after it was completely closed, it would again remind to clean the crafty. When it came to the temperature gauges? Everything worked except the bottom booster temp gauge was reading only 88 up until the next time he restarted the app, causing it to work fine then. We couldn't turn the crafty on via his app though for whatever reason, it'd accurately show the crafty temperature in-app as it cooled but after clicking the crafty logo and hitting yes... nothing happens on the device. The crafty logo lights up in app as orange, like its on, but the device temperature isn't rising nor is the LED on. Hours are being clocked properly and it seems to have a stable bluetooth connection.

Needless to say I'm going to contact S&B. Now considering I'm a heavy user, do you think I should just see if S&B will allow me to exchange it for a Mighty instead?

This crafty was a warranty replacement that I just got, the original died with 12 hours of usage. If they allow me to return this replacement and pay a difference to upgrade to the Mighty, then it may be worth it for the pass through usage and simple digital display.

Yes, by all means, if they let you upgrade for the difference in price, do it (I did!).
Especially for a heavier user, it's a world of difference.
No app at all!

On my device, that is normal and seems to be just prompting a reminder on startup.
They do recommend to clean the CU regularly so that's about how often that message will appear for now!

This also sounds like how some of the app functions become a bit sticky or lagged with my older device's BT pairing with the Crafty.
When I download the app from Play store, it does say that the app may not be optimized for my device (slightly old tablet), so I can't really complain and am just grateful to be able to do everything, even if it can jam up a bit, and then leave it at that.
I'd advise you to delete the app and check for that notification when you download it again.
I assume that with the newer or most popular phones or tablets that the app and bluetooth pairing would be optimized/seamless, but maybe there is always some stickiness from this app version?

Bear in mind I think there is a 3rd party freeware style app for Crafty made by a smart user. I should look into it myself too for fun.

Needless to say I'm going to contact S&B. Now considering I'm a heavy user, do you think I should just see if S&B will allow me to exchange it for a Mighty instead?

The app being sticky and upsetting you could well be enough cause to have an RMA approved and they would probably like to see you happy in the end.
And @vapviking is right, if it's heavy use ya be needin', ya prolly should have got the Mighty in the first place aye aye Cap'n!

No problem.

I’ve got some pre-made battery packs with Sony VTC6 cell as well if you’re not comfortable desoldering and resoldering yourself ...

I just wanted to post a follow up. The missus and I changed the battery and the heat fuse (managed to find a replacement locally) I just wanted to thank you for the help. It's just a shame that i feel the community is better placed to handle repair issues than S&B themselves.

Glad you got it fixed! That's the way!

I'm currently arguing w/ Firefly to send me the glass "bowl" that broke in mine ... they want me to send the whole device in (so I'll be without it for a month), to do a 5 min. repair. It will take me longer to figure out how to package it safely without the glass bowl then it would to re-assemble if I had the part!!! Sheesh! I'm not even asking for warranty on the repair or part or anything ... I just want them to sell it to me for the cost of the repair! That way they make the money without even having to do the work!

Hey mate my crafty was red/yellow dead according to S&B only a new one was the solution .... i replaced the thermal fuse and it came back to life, how i miss this guy... i wanted to replace the battery and by the way @rebis describes a sony VTC6 (i have 2 for the IQ) are a good option, can you please send some photo info on how to do it, replacing the fuse was easy but soldering is a different game...
Cheers
