StemPod by MPL

@supershredderdan is probably busy trying to figure out how to scale down a zero point module into a mod box to power the next generation of ModPod that's gonna use lasers, plasma and dark matter.

Well that or he's probably busy trying to spin up a production line for the StemPod.

Pretty much this. Visiting home as it is spring break for me currently. We are awaiting our marketing pictures to be processed and sent to us so that we can show off the new revamped website/preorder page. Most everything is in place for launch other than some small design tweaks to be implemented for the first run.

We already have six pre-orders, and we haven't even officially launched the pre-order page! thank you everyone for the support, I have just made some updates to the site and would like some feedback. I know they aren't optimized for mobile at the moment but some input on the two panel home page would be appreciated.

Dan, there's only the split picture on the front website page, nothing else. Someone wouldn't be able to add the stempod to the cart if they wanted to order.

If you mouse over the "preorder now" text it should flip around to reveal the description and a link to the preorder page

It's working right for me in IE, but not Firefox. In FF, the text disappears when I move my mouse. Could just be my flakey version of FF.
Hmm good feedback, I've been testing in chrome but I'll be sure to test on other browsers as well. Is the mouse over design counter intuitive? the idea was to have a cleaner look that would reveal info as needed, but I could alternatively ditch the flip over design and leave the buttons always visible.

6 of 1, 1/2-dozen of the other. :D The mouse design is fine. It's whatever you like.

On some websites I have trouble with FF, so if I do, I know to shoot over to IE to see if it's the browser.

Viewing on android mobile.

I'd just have the pre-order now button displayed permanently and not bother with the text. On the phone the text looks messy overlaid on top of the split image.

On android mobile.

Like the spinning text - that is kinda cool. When you get through to the product info would be good to have a "modpod coming soon" section.

Been working on a timeline for the first batch, estimates right now show us shipping the first orders in July bar any significant hang ups. I'd like to know what you guys would like to see with the packaging and presentation of the product.

I think a magnetic box like the Ghost. Simple, durable & perfect for repurposing as it's super nice. Then, as I really like @GreenHopper's idea, you could sell a mod case separately for those who want. Not everyone is gonna want to pay an increased price because of inclusion of this housing. I wouldn't want to pay more to get this part from the gitgo until I assess how "I" choose to store it.

Here's the packaging of the Ghost. There's a magnet or a magnetic strip at the opening & it's thick cardboard. I don't know if the seams are reinforced. It's super sleek looking. Imagine opening this type of box, size appropriate for the MP & SP -- you open it & there embedded is the cartridge. Oh, & the material surrounding this embedding is sometime of thin, lightweight, yet firm foam. Some said that GV was going with the sleek packaging of Apple.

Now you have to pick MP's flagship colors & final logo going forward. I assume you're gonna go with the new logo you recently displayed, but I'm not, as a female probably, feeling the black & white. It's too bland IMO; it needs a pop.

Awesome comparison between the two man, pretty much perfectly described the "behavior" of the Milaana. Damn you pick up vapes quick, I already knew you were a pro with convection though listening to you describe the behavior of your vape and speeding up draws and avoiding combustion and all that fun stuff. Super entertaining to watch man, keep up the great work!

@Summer I saw slightly stoopid live on NYE. (just adding that in cuz I saw the pic on that video lol)

OK final thought: Black & lilac, purple or red. Your original colors were fushcia & black, but I don't think the fuschia would appeal to men. Ask you GF what colors she thinks. ;)

I like how Chewie packaged their 2.0 grinder using a very basic cardboard box.

Personally I tend to throw the packaging away (recycle) if it has no long term function as I neither want or need to keep boxes.

Going with a basic cardboard box style design shows environmental awareness and doesn't inflate the cost of the overall package.

If plastics and inks are involved in the packaging then the packaging should offer some form of longer term function such as a travel case.

The Puffco Peak for example has a moulded foam case that can be used for travel.

As this is a small device I'd personally prefer if the package was as compact as possible, if it is small enough to post through a mailbox slot then that opens up the potential of not having to collect from the post office (assuming no signature is required on receipt) should I not be in during the delivery. Also if the packaging is small then it can double up as a travel case.

Just my :2c:

Packaging is important if your goal is to get this to mass market. Think about what you stand for as a company and want to convey.

Do you want to deliver a high end inpression with Apple type packaging? Or would prefer to communicate a sense of environmental awareness and use minimal packaging, or even tins that can be reused? Or would you prefer something more unique that stands apart from the sea of similar boxes coming out of China?

One thing I appreciate is smaller boxes that are more economical to ship.
