Tom,

I'm not really a woodsman and wasn't sure about the type of wood i received. I'm quite happy with the product although it was not what i ordered. I didn't build it and decide to send you an email. I didn't notice til after building it then looking on this site and seeing pictures. No need for a way back machine this time!

No problems, not even singling you out, just want folks to know if they see something, that isn't right, such as the wrong wood or leather etc... give us a shout. I have been known to screw up. :rolleyes: But, I'm also known for making it right. :cool: Glad we don't need a way back machine. :peace:

I just finished putting mine together my black walnut/bison kit. I enjoyed it. My only question is will the walnut darken over time? Mine seems lighter than the pictures of other ones I've seen. Either way, I really like it.

Some woods oxidize and change color, some don't (as much). Walnut is a pretty stable color (over time), and doesn't seem to get an oxidation darkness (as much). Other woods such as Cherry and Mahogany can change by many shades over a short time. Wood color even changes depending on the part of the tree and from tree to tree. That is Black Walnut, a nice light colored piece. Glad you enjoyed the build. :tup:

minnesnowta lookin good! Especially for an iPhone...I also like the E&A soundtrack as a background; I missed an opportunity to see them live this past year and have been kicking myself in the head ever since :mad: .



What are you using for an H20 adaptor there minnesnowta? I just got a gridded showerhead circ. bub and have been loving it with the PD. The only drawback is that I don't get enough, or as much airflow as you do coming through the PD, is your increased airflow a function of that H20 adaptor you got there? The PDP is my go-to vaporbonger now but for a while I packed a tiny bit too tight and a looser pack definitely facilitates pulling bubbles. Either way I'm really happy with my new set-up, I'll have to post up some pics/video when my camera charger comes in.

All I use is a pd stem that's cut pretty much all the way down to the tip so it's super short. Then that just sits in a 14/18mm bushing adapter. It works pretty good but I wish it was one piece. I had a mouth piece for my ashcatcher too but I ended up breaking it. I think the airflow has alot to do with the pack and the ammount of air volume you have behind it. More air volume will create more suction. I've noticed with these higher airflow peices will actually cook the stem more evenly and it doesn't get as dark as a normal stem does.

On the E&a: I got to see them this summer agai. And they are absolutely amazing. One of the best groups I've seen live. I'm lucky and get to see them often because they're from minnnesota.

So minnesnowta would you recommend cutting the stem down then? I'm using the PD primarily with glass so it wouldn't at all be a waste of a stem. This new piece I have has much more airflow than I'm used to and I understand what you mean about the more even cook. Here's my current set-up; new webcam and bubbler is a great excuse to have fun.

I'm not too sure if the shorter stem affects the airflow. I need to try a full length one and the short back to back before I can say for sure. What I can tell you is that the shorter stems make the pd a little less akward on a joint because it's less wobbly. I don't know if I'd recomend cutting it as short as I did because if I use it in a 14mm joint I can't pull the stem to clear it which sucks. When I'm using something 18mm I just take the bushing out to clear it. I'm all for the shorter stems though.

need a link to a new wall adapter.. have been extremely frustrated looking online, and have been to a few local shops who have no idea where to get the 12v 1000mA Type M, 2.1mm x 5.5mm adapter...

i wrapped both main flex points on the cord with heatshrink right when i built the PD, to make sure the wires wouldn't wear out, but sure enough, less than a week in, it just stopped heating. The wall wart is the problem, it looked like the wires melted right inside the box, and shorted.

It works great with the car adapter, but it it VERY annoying to run out to the car every time i want another stem.. plus it doesn't heat to full strength unless my car is running (car battery going out i think)

anyhow, i'll pay whatever to get a new plug, if its possible to get one direct.. or maybe a link to a super heavy duty appliance-type cord with those voltage specs... I just want something thats going to last.

Nice, I think I might pick up one of those for easier upstairs/downstairs mobility.


Some pics of the unit I built my brother over the weekend. I resisted using and buzz-buttering the unit so he can properly break her in. Overall the second build went much more quickly because I didn't watch the videos for the most part. I've really got my eye on one of those fancy's now :cool:

I've had mine for over a year, and mine has never burned up.

I'm kinda rough on them. But I went through a couple in the first couple of months. But I'm sure that was user error. I've been on this one for the past 3 months. Having multiple in common spots are a good idea so you don't have to move them helps. I use to have to have one at my buds house ready to go because I was there that often and transporting one was a hassle.

People break the plug or break the cord, the transformer still functions, but the wires get broken. Replacement plugs are available 2 for $3 at RS. Some folks can make a cord last and last, others can break a bowling ball... :cool:

BTW the housing of the power supply says Jameco part #10081, so replacements are not hard to find.

Also, the temperature is variable depending on the voltage (since resistance is set). A battery does not put out the same voltage as the alternator.

Shoot us an e-mail if you are outside North America. We took the standard buy buttons down for Internationals since there are a couple of countries that we won't ship to. France and South Africa are the two that come to mind, incompetent or corrupt postal systems.

Also a bit of explanation about the transformer (that won't work outside North America, $150 subtract $10= $140) and shipping costs (we subtract domestic shipping and add International Express $140 - $10= $130 + $50 = $180 total) needs to be understood and this will give us the opportunity to explain and make sure the customer is informed. Also the customer needs to know that there may be Duties or Taxes to pay etc...

I just received my cherry Pandora Kit (that was quick) and I'm looking forward to the build this weekend.
Thank God I mowed my yard yesterday (3200 sq. ft.) so I can have a relaxing weekend with the Pandora.

I received my Pandora the other day. Very Simple to build with idiot proof instructions.:) Took me an hour and half to make minus the finishing sanding and leather base. Havn't got round to completing it yet, too busy using it! :)

Thanks to Tom and Pammy for their great customer service. Anyone concerned about building one of these shouldn't be. If you've used the tools needed before then you'll fly through it.

Just thought I'd stop in after using my Purple Days for about a week. I can honestly say that I could not possibly be happier with it. The efficiency is incredible! Highly recommended ;)

I really appreciate the positive feedback. The instructions were something that was hard to judge, from my perspective. Too much detail and it would be spoiled, a kit like this needs your instinct. But, enough explanation, to get the masses thorough the build. I really hope I struck a balance. I'm so glad to hear it. :D

Hi Tom,
I just finished my PK build last night and it was very easy. It took only a couple of hours.
Your instructions were clear and uncluttered.

After watching each video, I reviewed the photos, then read the text document prior to each step.
As I went along I used only the photos to refer to. If there was a particular question anywhere I would review the video to make sure I hadn't missed something you mentioned.

All in all a nice format as it was focused and uncluttered. With zero building problems as a result.:2c:

The Buzz Butter smells like tea! It's awesome. I believe there's a market for surfboard wax that smells like that.;)!
