oh whew, had me worried for a sec.. I was thinking it would take a month or so, and ive been very patient up until hitting the three week mark, but now i cant forget about it, and im checking my email all day haha
just be glad you didn't buy a pd before the pandora was available. the promised 9+ weeks wait has turned into over 20 for some people.

^^^ and you know there is a lot more to that story than that.

No postal service in Port Orford on Saturday, so relax till Monday at least, Organic Vapor. We are currently running between 21-30 days. Just came back from the laser man, we dropped off more cherry for him to work with. All items are being worked in larger quantities and it takes time for all the pieces to fall in place.

I think a lot of folks see 15 days as three weeks, too. Hey it's week three, dude... (sorta). It's a drive thru, get it now world. Understandable in 2010. But when I say three weeks I mean 21 days +., four weeks is 28 +. :2c:

And when I say I just dropped off more cherry, that's stuff for delivery several weeks from now, we have cherry bodies in the bag, but still need other items to finish up for those kits to be complete. Same with other woods.

also impatient :brow: but curbing that, cuzz it will take at least a couple of weeks more with shipping and customs :| so it doesn't matter 3 or 4 weeks

Hey i'm not impatient at all, i'll wait til September if i have to. I've been researching vapes for a couple years now, initially turned off on vapes entirely by the insane price on a 'Cano vs its results o_0

glad i came across this little device.. and very much looking forward to the build, as i love building electronics and woodworking equally.. plus always happy to support truly small business.

Also, i wanted to say your commitment to not outsourcing production to mass produce the finished units is very admirable. You guys might look into a "franchise" system of sorts, where you supply PDP kits to small shops who assemble, sell, and service/replace units over-the-counter under their own name, w the PDP original parts label...

Thanks, OrganicVapor, and welcome to the forum. It's a furball somedays.

I didn't think anybody was getting impatient, but an earlier poster, tried to mislead, or was too stoned to post, so I wanted to explain the time-line. Everything is on track.

Pammy e-mails tracking info in the evening (Pacific Time Zone, GMT-8) after the mail has gone. Probably probably Monday evening some folks will hear from her.

I got my PDP in three weeks, was pretty happy with that. I'd rather wait a little extra for the benefits of the PD over another vape. The wait on the original is insane, but why worry about that when you could learn from nothing to assemble the PDP in less time. I was surprised at how simple it was. Save a little money, a lot of time, and have a fun project. I guess not everybody is into that kind of thing though.

Thanks for the info Tom! It sounds safer than any other finish in the nursery these days, ha ha. The rocker was probably finished before I was born, so who knows what's in that. :uhoh: Not to mention the lovely orange and gold spray painted floral designs. Anyway, that is really helpful. Thanks!

The kit came! If I was ever so slightly off-square when putting the jack in, will it matter? The top is maybe 0.2-0.4 mm more dug into the body than the bottom

Getting the threads lined up isn't critical, the jack threads will dig into the wood (even if a little crooked) and will firm up then the glue sets up and it's not going anywhere.

Pammy has seen me start threads backwards on many occasions, screwing in a light bulb etc. and sometimes has said, "your turning it the wrong way" ... "yes dear, I know I am turning it the wrong way, I want to feel when the threads drop into place." Same thing with the jack, giving a bit of backwards twist till you feel the threads line up, then making sure you are square to the body is ' the right way'... but as long as it's in there tight and the threads had glue on them it's not going anywhere.

OK. Oh and if you'd rather me email I can, but I figured these kinds of questions could be helpful for others as well.

I turned the jack into the wood until it just started to dig in at the top and bottom, but obviously it'll never been flush with the sides unless you really crank it down. Since I've already put the jack in at this point it doesn't matter, but out of curiosity would driving it in until the sides were dug in as well break anything?

No, I actually thought this was the normal pd thread, don't assume I was "misleading, or too stoned." Instead of assuming what my actions were, shouldn't you be making vapes so there is no "time-line."

It was one or the other. I was being nice assuming you were stoned... But no you are here to cause trouble.

Yeah, I thought you sounded familiar (what name did you used to go by?), same old song, that I should be making PDs. Well it's Saturday and I am, but I stop for lunch and dinner and I even take an evening off once in a while. Yes, you sounded very familiar, like an old scratchy record that nobody wants to listen to anymore. Now I gotta get back to work. :)

Sorry, I missed post #514 in the above furball above.

No problem with your installation. Occasionally I do the same, an extra (1/4) turn or two and it's snug and right, sanding gets thing flush. No, it can't break anything, just threads digging in. Groovy, I will try to post some help about this on the FAQ.

So uh, I think I'm not hitting the heat exchanger flare hard enough or something, because it doesn't seem to be deforming nearly as easily as in the video. Or maybe my hammer's too wimpy

Hey Panasonic, I had the same problem earlier this weekend. I didn't have an anvil around and was trying to work the metal against a very small vice, but just wasn't getting anywhere. I moved outside and hammered it against my concrete porch to get it finished. It worked, but marked the concrete a bit.

So, my guess is that you need a bit more support beneath the rod.

Good luck!

I actually had a time getting that flare going myself but blamed my lack of manly muscles or thought I wasn't hitting hard enough but I think it was the surface I was using. I moved to a solid metal block on husband's vice. It took a little time but once I got the swing of it.....smooth sailing.

Good luck! I hope you get yours going!

Yep, a solid surface is a must. If you are hitting against something that can rebound, well you will just be bouncing. I use a 16 oz. hammer for peening the flare over, I have a much heavier hammer but you want to bend metal a little at a time as I say in the instructions. Even knowing how hard to hit and against a solid surface I probably take 20-30 whacks to get it right. . . small directed whacks, nothing heavy needed if you have solid backing. It's not like driving nails, watch any metal worker, steady and even... Quite a few units and the HE assembly and flare is not a problem. But, Get thee on solid ground !

Hey did any of y'all also have a bottom disc that fit a little bit loose? Looks about 1/16" all around. If it's normal that's cool, I just wanted to make sure (since this step can't really be undone).

Tom lemme know if any of these posts you'd rather see by email. Usually I'll post here because I feel like others might find your answers helpful! :)

edit: rawr, if you do buy snap ring pliers, make sure to get a high quality set. I bought 4 different ones before I found one that worked
