New stems are looking amazing, great work @Winegums.

I was wondering, is there a way to safely put my vapcap when still hot into the case you made? I presume it would char the wood if I did it as it is at the moment. I think I read the new dynavap plastic cases have a heat-proof o-ring in the bottom so you can throw them in hot. Would there be a way to safely do that with your cases?

Not the end of the world if not, but sometimes it's nice to be able to whip the thing out, use it, and then put it away quickly, particularly when out and about.

What does "hot" mean? I can take off the cap with my fingers immediately after down click. If my fingers can stand the heat wood does it for sure. Ignition point of wood is 540 - 610 F depending on kind of wood. Temps just below can cause charring when longtime heated. But temp of your VC will ever be far below those temps if properly used.

@snaffle Unless your weed is burning inside the cap don’t worry about burning the wood. The cap is quite cool after it clicks on cool down.

I’ve been using wood holes on my desk stands everyday with hot caps and there’s no burning.

Today is my Birthday, 27 years ago I was born. I have no idea what to do with my day but I'm going to try my best to enjoy it. Some music on my guitar, video games, maybe I'll make something for myself in the shop?

Happy Happy my talented friend. Hope it's the best one yet. And I love that you'll celebrate your birthday doing things you love like playing the guitar and making gorgeous stems and accessories for those of us that can't get enough of the vapcap.

Cheers.

Thank you! I find that I enjoy making things most in life, whether it's music, objects, gardening, writing, or ideas. I feel I'm multi-talented because I can find joy and interest in creation of almost anything. The interest fuels me with the energy and eagerness to learn new skills and expand my abilities. When I look back on my life there's nearly an interest for every year. Blacksmithing, bladesmithing, gardening, oil painting, water colour, pencil crayon, charcoal, portaits, sketching, writing, pottery/ceramics, landscaping, wood working, metal sculpting, shooting, camping, boating, fishing, driving/cars, flute, piano, guitar, singing, drums, tambourine (surprisingly difficult), luthiering, electronics, leather working, costumes, architectural drafting/design, mechanical drafting/design... I'm sure I'm missing some. I really want to get into metal casting, machining, and jewelry.

happy birthday @Winegums !!

27 huh, geesh.. now i feel old ;)
Thanks!

You're telling me! 27 sounds a lot closer to 30 than 26.
Happy birthday, enjoy it and enjoy the little things. A nice new stem would be a good way to treat yourself....
Thanks, enjoying the little things is exactly what we should all do more often.

Happy birthday! I think making a special birthday stem sounds like a great idea.

I feel really old now -- I have a son that is 27, and he's been a joy to me every one of those years! I'm hoping he will give up combustion and enjoy the VC legoland as much as I do.

This Oak I have from a big lot of random planks is unbelievably dense, there's almost no pores to speak of and the surface feels like plastic or resin. I'm eager to work with this some more.

I also have this 18mm Figured Walnut piece but found a lathing tool mark after I took pictures. I'll polish it out and post it later today.

Happy belated birthday @Winegums.
The abv bin in the vape station currently has an enano long stem and a wooden poker standing in it, so it is serving a slightly different purpose at the moment.
I had that thought the other day, that the vape stations could be used to hold much longer tools in them if they weren't being used as a container.

Speaking of Vape stations, I should have more out soon. I've got all the wood prepped and just need to start doing the joints.

Happy birthday. !

From the pics you posted on page 17 it looked like the statin was rather deep: is the space inside used for storage compartments as well?

It could be if there were dividers installed internally.

good to know. Do you happen to have measurements? (Else I will simply wait til you add it to your etsy (F5!))
Which wood is it / how did you make the "pattern"?

The bins should be 3 1/8”x 3 1/8” x 5”. I’ll be making them soon but I’ve come down with a flu of some sort that is sapping my energy. I have to build a wood jig to move forward with the project but I’m bed ridden.

Which pattern? If you can link the photo it would help.

I’m a designer and I typically have a rough sketch or even detailed drawing of what I’m going to make.
