I am not sure and please don't pin me down on this @Bravesst but didn't you mention a stiring tool somewhere before? Because I would really like to get a wooden one matching the unit
If you never mentioned it you can maybe take it in consideration as a accessory to ad to the order
Because when I need to stir this unit I wanna do it with as much style and elegance as possible:sherlock:

I would never ship without a stir / cleaning tool. Alan has designed one which I love. Trying to put my own spin on something like it. It will be every functional for both stirring and picking screen clean. It's going to be a simple design, and for now included in every package.

For sure it's hard for us but if you need the time to get the best possible quality I and I think we all are pleased to waited for it  and I am really pleased that you put one into the set
But now I am interested in how it looks  do you already got them? If yes I would be thankful if you could show us a picture of it
If not I gonna wait for it until I gonna open the package like a lil kid on Christmas:tup:

All this testing has my throat and lungs a bit over done. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm gonna need a break. This entire batch of ten is assembled. I swear I thought there was 11, but for the life of me, I can't find #11. I'm sure it will show up.

Here's a pic of my progress testing. In the box is a lot of practice that will soon be spare parts. There were many more than that, didn't save them all. In my experience, it's the only way to get good at something.

The 3 units on the right also need to be check out.

Sounds like a hard job. But I think out in the world there at much more unpleasant job's out there then needing a break because of all the vaporizers you need to test:rolleyes: really appreciate your work and love for perfection
We all will benefit from your worn down lungs
Take it for the team:sherlock:

I've had two vapes so far that weren't as good as the rest. Of course, those are the ones I'm messing with. I have to remind myself, *take it apart, replace whatever is substandard, put back together.* It can only be a couple of things, I'll just replace the coil / switch / wires and start from scratch, and make it a brand new vape. Those things cost a bit to produce, purchase, but investigating, unless blatant, just isn't worth the effort. Like I said before, I'm actually trying to find those things before I let you have it.

I'm actually trying to find those things before I let you have it.

And thank you for doing so! I see other threads with returns needed on newly shipped vapes that could surely have been avoided by the manufacturer if taking time to do what you are doing. Thank you for caring not only about your products image but caring about us too !
It will also help you determine if problem might be user or unit in case of problems upon reception. Way to play it safe for everyone

A few questions: Are the bare bones models made with the same wood?

Also, and I know this belongs in the ask fc thread, what have you found as the best way to clean screens. You stress clean screens so strongly.

Will the water adapter you sell also work with whips?

Good questions. Yes, all units are made from the same stock (right now it's limited to Cherry and Walnut) the only thing that makes it *Bare Bones* is what it comes with (long glass stem, no battery).

Clean screens / stems are critical. I'm going to put out a couple of instructional videos on operation and cleaning. You can keep screens pretty clean between uses with the right pick tool (will be included, even with bare bones). I also do an occasional burn off, removing the screen, holding it with a small pliers, and torching it with a butane lighter until it glows cherry red. Stems also need to be clean (wood stems can be scraped out with a small pocket knife).

In my testing, screens were clogging a bit, and I got lazy. Once you change or clean the screen, you realize you were not getting the most out of the vape because you could not pull all the heat into the stem.

I've identified a couple of units out of the 10 that need to be rebuilt. Now it's time to build coils for batch 2, as well as a few extra. I need to look closely at those coils, discover the variable(s), and eliminate it.

There will be one last cosmetic scan of each unit, with final cleaning and buffing before shipping. I will be sending out emails to the first ten over the next couple of days.

Man that thing is looking POTENT:goon:
I can attest to that after a week of testing...

I've also gotten quite good at getting the most out of Lil' Bud. Here are some honest observations on how to get the most out of Lil' Bud.

Herb prep helps a lot. It allows you to immediately access the good stuff without having to evaporate all the moisture (steam in your lungs for no reason) first. I make it simple, I have a little lamp with a 6 x 6 mesh on top of it. The light bulb is about 4 inches below the herb. I leave it there for 15 to 30 minutes. I dump it in a mini glass bowl and crush it up by hand. Dry, it should break right up easily. Get it relatively fine, super clean, it shouldn't be total dust, but fluffy.

Set basket screen into stem with concave side towards tip. The stir tool will be also serve as a gauge (and support) that will help you to set the depth of the screen in the short wooden stems when first installing, or any time you need to adjust. Some people prefer very close to the tip, I prefer the edge of the basket to be about a 1/16 to an 1/8 or so from the tip. This gives you the best combination of close enough to keep things vaporizing clean (not getting gummy), and enough room to fit about .08 to .1 typically. I feel for most weed, any load less then .8 or so sacrifices a bit on taste and efficiency, although still works well for a quicker session. This can vary from bud to bud, even with the same batch. You want to tamp into Lil' hockey puck for Lil' Bud. Video coming soon.

Learning to get the prep/screen distance/tamp right, optimizes and simplifies the actual session. Now there are 2 variables, draw and switch. We are assuming a clean screen and proper prep/screen/tamp. Press the button and inhale. You can feel and even hear the rush of hot air exchange. If all is right, it's a pretty wide open air path, so pay attention to draw speed as you hold down the button. Instant feed back should tell you whether to speed up or slow down to create the most vapor, but not come close to charring. You must realize that the breath pulling the heat is what is making the load hot, not the pressing of the button. The trigger turns the coil immediately on, but your breath pulls that coil heat immediately into the load. If you pull to fast, or hard, you can char, even if you let go of the trigger. This will become second nature after a few sessions. And have no fear, a drop of charring in the load is no big deal. The bad boy can take it.
You'll also want to stir at least once. There have been many loads I haven't stirred, but milked every drop as is, but stirring makes it easier to quickly access what's left or to revive a bowl. I advise against leaving a stem uncleaned. Gets all cakey, cleans easier right away with the pick tool.

Okay, time for the nightly show. Tonight's a good one. Here is a good pic of batch one. Tomorrow I will do my paperwork and notify the first ten, giving you choices. All units in the first batch are cherry - some cherry / walnut, some cherry / cherry. Next batch will be walnut in the same fashion. If you'd rather wait for walnut, please let me know when I contact you. Or else give me your first choice, I'll do my best to honor it, but the units are already built. Batch three will be cherry again.

If you didn't get a first batch email today, no sweat, next batch will be out next week. I'll try and answer all inquiries, but if it takes me a day or two to reply, at least you'll know. I'm going to try and finish up paid orders by the end of the month, then get to work on that waiting list.

This morning was all about the back plate (lid), as well as me just admiring my work --- just kidding. I also have to bang out some stir tools and install battery floor plates on some units. If I don't hear from you guys about wood options, let's just say this, they're all nice. If you want walnut and you got the email, let me know and I can give yours to another, and your walnut unit will be out by the end of next week.

All 19/22 stems will work with Lil' Bud

I also need to cut a video or two. After two weeks of testing, I have to say, I realize the importance of the *hockey puck*. Once the stem gets a little gunked up, it's pretty wedged in there, but until then it might move when tamping down. I like to *musket load*, or put a dowel, chop stick into the stem from the other end, gently supporting the screen as you tamp contents into the perfect hockey puck. A couple of simple videos will explain it all.

Thanks for all the information about the best functional way to handle this beast
Would be beautiful if you could fit in a video so everything is together :)

By the time you get your vape, the video will be posted on the website. I was thinking about doing it today, but time just got away from me. Lots of last minute stuff to deal with.

The dowel is the exact length of a short stem, minus about a 3/8 of an inch, the perfect gauge to set the basket screen in place, as well as support for the basket screen from below, making forming the *hockey puck* much easier. Once the screen gunks up a bit, it should stay in place. This is more of an issue with glass stems that aren't as consistent size wise.

The safety pin is the perfect pick / stir tool. Heavy duty, closes safely away, it allows me to pick the screen pretty clean. I'll pick the screen clean for as long as the draw is good (before removing and cleaning). The idea is to marry the two together. I have a few ideas. These guys will be demonstrated in the upcoming video.

Battery gauge keeps getting better.

Today, tomorrow will be about a couple of final steps before shipping. I've been testing my battery gauge, and I am proud to say, after a full night of use, this morning the battery is still at 400. I must have done 3 stems, probably have 3 more. I think it's the really well formed hockey puck that is dispersing the heat well, allowing me to release the switch even sooner, then continue to draw a bit. This also keeps the unit cooler. A hot unit just means the battery is heating more than just herb, inevitable to a certain extent, but minimized in this glassless, micaless configuration. My pack / pick tools will make this easy for you, as will video demos.

I'm also working on / finalizing the battery block. I am not 100% on my current design, close, but I want it to be super easy to use, so you actually use it. The option of removing the battery between uses is actually pretty easy (if you have a case), and the absolute safest option.

I'd like to make some headway on batch #2. In one or two days I can get all the wood work done, boxes attached, fared and finished. Next it's coils, then assembly.
