Discontinued Ghost MV1

lazylathe

Almost there...
Since my MV-1 has worked out of the box, i really wanted to love this vape.
I don't need or generally use portable vapes since i solo vape at home.
Desktops are my jam!

Anyway after a few weeks with the MV-1, i have managed to fit it into my routine!
Took a while and i did not give up!

Since this vape performs at it's peak with dry herb, it is hard for me to use whenever i want without any prior planning...
Finally the penny dropped!!
I grind up 2 crucibles worth of herb the night before and leave it covered with a piece of paper.
The next morning it is dry and crispy and still smells amazing!
Load up a crucible at noon and it is perfectly dry!

Amazing flavor and clouds and pretty even ABV!
It definitely has a unique vape signature and hits hard!
The Ghost is a great way to start the day off!

@shaolinmilk it would be a really easy thing to have some dry herb handy. You know those silica gel packs that come in meds? Put one of those in a glass jar with a day or two worth of material and seal it well over night. Voila!

And, I'm sure you already know this, but ALL vaporizers work more efficiently with drier herb than wet. It was counter intuitive to me as I was moving from combustion to vaporizing, but it's just science. So to me it's just a fundamental truth of vaporizing and I do what's necessary. That's my :2c:

I personally feel like most of my vapes I have work exceptionally well with sticky weed. I'm not saying they don't work better with dryer herb, it works amazingly well with sticky herb already so there's no need for me to dry it.

I just wished the MV1 worked well with any kind of herb whether it's moist or dry. That's all.

Vape produces no heat. This is a rare occurrence. Happened a few times. Maybe it is caused by being a certain internal temp which confused the poor thing.

1. Took 3 draw at 2 yellow.
2. Left it for about an hour.
3. Tried to vape again it immediately vibrated as if it was up to heat.
4. No heat on 3 or 4 attempts to draw.
4a. Reset battery.
5. Raised the temp still no heat seems to be produced.
6. Get overheat lights.
7. Change battery to a fully charged one.
8. More overheat lights no heat.
9. Draw without turning the vape on until it feels like it is pretty cold. Reset battery
10. Now it worked correctly.

I am hoping Ghost comes out with a silicone tasting version on the second go.

It’s interesting so many people seem to be so sensitive to the silicone. I tasted it on my first hit but not since then.

I was honestly a little hesitant on this vape because it has so much plastic and silicone but I love it. I don’t get any unpleasant flavors.

I think the harder hitting effects are directly related to the design. I don’t have a vape that I can hit that hard that long that high temp without water. Water takes something out, the ghost leaves it all in with a proper mix of air for the cooling effect. Thus increasing my ability to pounce that crucible in 2 mondo hits if I want! I store an empty crucible in the unit and with a piece of paper towel I plug the stem. This handles the odor. Just my :2c:

@ShayWhiteGrow, your description of the hits w/o water hit the nail on the head.

It doesn't have much plastic or silicone. Metal mostly, only 2 pieces of silicone & not much plastic that I know of -- just the back of the unit.

I got this black chrome one back when it launched. Based upon 7-11 crucibles a day since receiving it about 150 days ago, that’s anywhere from 1000-1500 crucibles through it or I’d say at least 10,000-21,000 draws at varying levels. Figure at least 10 draws to as many as 14 draws per crucible for me. I generally step up the temperatures. The build up on the interior greenstuff is minimal. The metal thingamascreen thing is on point too. Yellowish a bit sure but not clogged or buildup. Underneath same deal. Nothing significant at all yet. I’ve been beating this thing to death over the last few months. Outlasted Crafty #1, Mighty #1, IQ battery #1, and firefly 1 #1 so far. Only issue I had was gasket related and I think that’s just from the extreme cold temperatures it’s been subjected to with saliva sticking and freezing to the glass and then putting additional wear and tear on it. Short of that, thing has been totally on point.

@SirCrackKillaHrack, by any chance you live in a legal state? You must get some primo stuff cause 10 -14 cruciible is like,
wow.gif
. Do you generally stay at lower temps?

About the moisture content... most vaporizers performances are very related to the moisture content, the MiniVap old teflon core was one of them but Hermès Medical fixed that with the new quick glass core version. The ESV (Elevape) performances are the best too with dry buds. Some rare vapes are able to vape a very moisturized bud with high performances (Herbalaire, Vapolution, Vaponic). That's not a guideline but only my thoughts, all in all, if you want big vapor quickly, the dryer is the better and if you want to sip and enjoy flavor for long, moisture is the best. Most vaporizers can do both.

I wish I lived in a legal state >.<
I usually have to travel out to DC or Boston to pick up once every couple of months. It’s annoying to do but has opened up the options considerably. I used to use Capital Budz in DC but they upp’d their prices.. supply and demand bs in full effect there... when that happened, I started going to Boston. How High is the company I use now. They run QP specials for $600-800 and Os are affordably priced in the low to mid $200s.

The lemon pie I used when I first got the device was loose and I would average around 8-10 pulls with a stir. Dry bud. Two pulls per level, usually the third draw wouldn’t yield much at any of the levels. Blasting level 5 would yield 4-5 good draws.

Gorilla glue was dense as f man, that stuff for sure 12-15 draws. Three draws per level yield good vapor, fourth draw is where it starts to fail. At level 5 I’ll do two draws, stir, then two to four more. My biggest issue with the Gorilla glue though is because of how dense it is, it’ll get mad debris on the top of my hand when I go to stir—— I don’t get why people need to take the crucible out of the device to stir. If I’m going to stir which the only time I do is when I’m at home.. I simply take the lid off with my finger nails.. I’m right handed, the device is in my left hand. I’ll grab my pick then I’ll pop the door open with my left thumb, lift just the lid up with my right thumb and either middle or index fingernails and simply set the lid on my arm. Regardless of what temperature I’m rocking, that thing is cool enough to manipulate generally.—-
What I usually do is start at level 2 for three to four pulls then jump it up to level 3 for the same then level 4, then 5. Figure at least three pulls per level is already 12 draws if starting at 2. If starting at level 1 during a stretched out dota 2 hour long game, you get a few more. If blasting level 5, 7-8 draws good draws.

I picked up northern lights a few weeks back and am cracking into it now. I get three good pulls at level 2, two at level 3, two at 4, 5 two draws. Stirs don’t yield much of anything. Level 5 on blast I get around 5 good draws.

I have sour diesel, more gorilla glue, grand daddy purp all coming in soon. I can’t wait to check them out.

This ^^ is true in my experience also. Not sure what the pain is about pre-grinding but its clear that there are a large group that just doesn't like doing it.

Me....I will grind and dry up an 1/8 and then space case it. Dry doesn't mean bone, dust, dry...just a bit dried. I see no loss in potency and it vapes well.

Also, if your vape is convection and has enough power it will dry the herb for you in the first draw....I think this will work with the MV-1 also but the top lid will probably get pretty gunked up.

Cheers

Any vape will dry the herb by the time it produces vapour because water boils at 100°C, which is well below the boiling temperature for most cannabis actives and certainly for any that produce visible vapour.

The cool and easy draw in a portable is the real perc of this vaporizer. Flavor is sacrafised at higher temps but vapor makes bigger clouds.

What's people's routines on settings for a session? I just can't find a routine I'm thrilled about or that is constantly repeatable?

I cannot get repeatable especially when I have 3 level 2 draws and then wait for hour or more. Sometimes I can continue at level 2. Sometimes I need to go to 4 or 5 and sometimes I do a reset and cool down if residual heat is there. I seem always though finally to get full and wonderful extraction

This has almost turned into my daily driver. It's the hardest hitting of anything I have. I'm not finding it to be incredibly picky about grind, or dryness, to be honest. A lot of the inconsistency I saw early on went away after I started tamping the herb down a bit.
Could you tell us the rest of your armada is, please? Not to be a dude, just to get an idea...
