Discontinued The Grasshopper

Tranquility

There are a lot of competing values. One is the company's stated desire to make sure things are right before starting on shipping. Another is the customer's desire to use the vape they paid for. The balancing, if it ever gets to the courts, is "reasonable".

I watch this thread because a working Grasshopper might be the vape I'm looking for. Having so many go bad so soon, worries me. Going dark to accomplish the goal of the company without clearly informing the customer his goals are moved down the list, worries me still more.

The fact they are a "small start up" has me think this company has a serious problem in staying afloat. I can't imagine the cash they must be bleeding and wonder how long it can keep it up.

- that's been said for a few weeks already, so... otoh the expected shipping time for new hoppers is set to "two weeks". So maybe Hoppy will come back for summer?
I just spoke with a buddy of mine who ordered a new hopper in late December. After requesting an update just this week, Olivia answered that they "would have their backlog cleared in a few weeks... and then start shipping at a regular rate"

Let us contrast this with the response I got the other day (see above post): "We're estimating to have our lab upgrade completed and resume warranty services within the next few weeks."

On the one hand, it's "backlog", and on the other, it's "lab upgrade". Production and Repairs.

Sure is a lot of change going on. Yep. Lots of, uh, change. I guess. :\

Aside from my dial issue (having to twist the dial back and forth before use for full power) this has been my most reliable hopper yet. I bought it used and it's been working every day for the last 2 months.
Dammit I spoke too soon. Packed a bowl in my hopper earlier, turned it to 4, no vapor. Swapped batteries. No vapor. Turn it to 5, no vapor. Thought maybe it was my herb as it would've been my first bowl of this stuff but i just emptied the hopper and loaded the Splinter with what was in it and got a huge tasty cloud. Guess I'll start playing the waiting game with everyone else who has an out of commission hopper.

I was there a few weeks ago, met Olivia, she is a real person. I don't know about timelines but I do know its a hive of activity. There is a beergarden/food truck park they share a building and its in my neighborhood so I'm there fairly often, they are also interested in shipping again as soon as possible and are also interested in making sure the new processes and equipment are delivering on what they are looking for. That's as much as I know, a small, local (to me company) do the best they can, they are neither runt offt nor a company with huge venture capital backing, they are exactly what they said they are, a small start-up. A small start up that in my opinion makes one of the best products in its industry, but still a small start up, can't expect them to be Apple or BMW ... who's products "never" break :brow:

I don't fault them for doing the best they can — and I don't doubt that they are. I just wish that instead of "a few more weeks", they'd say "a few more weeks because we have X, Y, and Z left to do before we can start refurbishing and shipping out Hoppers."

It's a small change with a big effect. They'd still not be promising a date, which is fine because obstacles come up, but they'd be letting people know what is left to be done.

Sorry to hear that. I wonder how long more mine will keep going. Getting nervous now :(

Be funny if the results of this overhaul would be a completely different vape and this time shaped like a

elbow grease ? but no idea where to buy it

also glad to see these posts in between all the true but depressing posts :p
Lol. Yeah, I'll keep babying it in between RMA's! It has helped to think of it as 2nd string or a backup unit these day. Hopeful for HL's reincarnation and for the Hopper to regain it's foothold in the daily lineup.

Hehe yeah I love my hopper and have actual respect for the engineering of Hopper labs but maybe not their social skills but whatever, I run a small business myself and been in the service industry for nearly 20 years so I know how things can turn for even the best meaning business that might just be struggling with aspects of their operation

I hope hopper labs boat keeps afloat

I had a single hopper for 2 years ? now and had 3 warranties that only costed me the shipping and I knew what I was getting into when I bought the hopper

feel like this is more like a formula one car then some work horse 230E benz like the Enano logvape that has few and large sturdy parts

I been looking for a second portable vape and thinking about the Firewood vaporizer and that is also a even tinier company with ONE EMPLOY ! so yeah I have to calculate that into also

If I was going for a safety then I just get an Arizer solo or something like that
but that is not very exciting .. is it ?

How good would it go for Hopper labs if they advertised failure rate and the fact this is NOT a good "only vape I got" type of deal with all its kinks

but now I am just rambling because at the moment I am hitting my Hopper labs Grasshopper and its kicking my arse like ALWAYS !!! :D

THIS. Yes. I don't care how great, cool, "understandable", or likable the good folk over there at GHL are. If they'd only change this "mañana" response to something more respectful to its customers... Sometimes their responses like they see its customers less like intelligent consumers, than just drooling stoners. That's how it feels, dadgummit!! Now, where's my droolcup.:myday:

Introducing The Grasshopper Vape App!
- One-Touch RMA Request
- MP3 Player - 1 TB!
- Change LED colors with cool patterns for parties
- FindMyHopper
(actually that's not a bad idea! lol)

Here's to wishing they will cross that tenuous threshold of getting this product stabilized.
It's a damn fine piece of engineering ingenuity.

Hjalmark, I have the FW4 and I do love it. It's NEVER given me a problem, and Mark is more responsive to issues than GHL for sure. Some time ago, FW had a safety issue with the battery that he'd had corrected in impressive time. So, far as reliability goes, no worries with FW. It's just a very different (slower inhale) hit technique.
