@RastaBuddhaTao thanks for the response. I emailed this afternoon and Ike answered immediately. It will be on its way in the morning and I’ll email the tracking info.
Roger that. I will work with Ike to ship a replacement. Ike is running RBT customer service so I am somewhat stepping on his toes here. I just wanted to make sure we took care of you. Learning from these early units are important to drive future improvements.

Splinter has arrived!

First session stuck mine on 28w. In hindsight a little high. Full extraction in 4 or 5 hits. Very even AVB. So far not a disapointment!

What TCR mode \ value you all using?

I am a microdosing flavour chaser. I use power mode, starting with two or three hits at 25W for the terpenes and flavour, then 27W for a few hits, and I usually finish at 30W. Cloud chasers will find plenty of them at 35W.

I have TCR mode set up but I rarely use it.

I thought I would hate it but it turns out I don't.

Crappy picture here.

It is awkward but doable. I really did miss the temp control of a DNA mod so I doubt I'll be using this setup again but it is a little smaller.

I will also say this. One battery is not going to be a good thing for the Splinter unless you are into changing batteries. :D

I ran a Evic VTC mini for a couple months and didn't mind the big-head-edness of it, I like your setup here. Recently upgraded to a DNA75 kit and the performance difference was very noticeable. @KeroZen, you may like my second DNA75 build for size, just a little bigger than the Splinter w/ a centered connector, and the standard 1590A+ enclosure barely fits the board, 510 connection, and a 4300mah 26650:

Love how tightly everything fits, good overall size, analogboxmods.com was out of the understated gun-metal gray 1590A+ I'd originally ordered, the green is a bit much, certainly harder to lose, I think it'll scuff up nice.

Sorry for missing this friend. The Splinter itself is 2 1/4" off the mod to the rim of the 19 mm glass and it is 1 1/4" diameter. The mouthpiece that shipped is the "Splinter long" which is the standard for the Mi. It is approx 1.63" high off the 19 mm female. The stealth mouthpiece is planned to be around 1".

Stealth mouthpiece?! Any details, like when can I buy this? And is it possible to make a 19/22 glass stem w/ a thick rim so a smaller ID to fit the 14mm baskets? That'd be my ideal for low-profile, low-temp micro-dosing (@DDave 14mm adapter is my favorite mouthpiece these days).

I also rarely use TCR now. I liked it at first but it honestly just seems unnecessary. I've never come close to combustion in power mode and it's just way more straightforward.

You might know this already but for the benefit of Splinter owners who don't, the Splinter was never intended to be run in any mode but power. TCR mode doesn't actually control the temperature of the Splinter because it doesn't know the temperature of the Splinter. Instead, it's measuring the change in resistance and then applying an algorithm to vary the power in order to try to keep the temperature readout on your box mod close to whatever you've set. There are some variables in there that make this tricky, one of the biggest being the material the heater is made from. Another is the algorithm used, which is basically tweaked to make the temperature display look right, where "right" is what the designer thinks it should be. For example, the temperature displayed in TCR mode using @funkyjunky's tubo firmware is calibrated to a temperature probe placed at the load chamber of a tubo. Nobody has done the measurements for a Splinter.

I've tuned mine to deliver the kind of vapour I expect at 160°C when TCR mode is set to 160°C. Notice I've said "tuned". To get mine to work this way, I had to lower the resistance setting to .230 from the .245 the box mod read from the Splinter when I first used it. I don't know what the actual temperature is, nor do I care. Exact temperature is not important, consistent results are.

Centered 510 connector is the way to go on the Splinter especially if it will be spending any time upside down.
On my SmoAnt Charon it sits off to one side and when going through a piece (upside down) exerts more pressure (weight) on one side of the connector and Splinter.

Also, I haven't felt the urge to try temp mode. Wattage mode works great with perfectly even roasting.

This thing rips too.
I can hit it as hard as i want and milk my piece in like 5 seconds at 25 watts.

This was my first try with concentrates.

Hey @duff,
are u wrapping cotton/hemp fiber for that concentrate hit, or just sandwiched between flower?
where did u get that dropdown? I was looking for one that looks like yours

Interesting reports about the even heating. In the iHeat, when I use it in power mode, I get a clear center hotspoting tendency if I'm not careful, and TC mode makes a clear difference. The device becomes idiot-proof and I don't have to think about the trigger at all, I leave it pressed all the time and just draw.

Does the Splinter feature a mini turbulator?

Been playing with this thing for a bit with my VV mod, the hexohm

Gotta say it works far better than I thought it would. I was worried about combustion using this thing since the lowest it can possibly go is a 3v output but I am getting fantastic results with it nonetheless. Keeping it at around 10 on the dial provides a very smooth and powerful vape with pretty even ABV.

nice mod, what is it and does it work well?

Thanks. It's a hexohm v3 and I personally think it's fantastic. It's a VV(variable voltage) mod which means it outputs between 3-6v of power depending on where the dials located.

I got it myself because it's a tank of a mod and it's one of the few mods actually still made in the USA that also carries a lifetime warranty. One of the best values if you don't mind a lack of TC.

Sending my backup Splinter off to some friends today. I'll get some feedback from them for you guys. One has a Milaana, 1 was preordered for Zion but backed out. They've got an LSV Nano and GH and have tried all my RBT vapes so it'll be in good hands :)

TCR is enjoyable for water tokes IMO as you can just rip away with no concern in scorching the material, this is especially true with ground extra dry material.

I have also become a fan of hooking the whip up to Splinter. No water, but good way to get some good cooling and again... Fun in TCR mode to just rip away.
