VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

I prefer a modded ss m tip with an IH for the longer duration at temperature to extract the bowl
Some prefer the Ti tip tho for the faster heat transfer and a faster extraction

I share the same sentiments. I prefer the SS tip on my NonaVong when in use with a water pipe, and use the Ti tip with a hemp filter when using it without a piece. I feel like the SS tip holds heat in longer than the Ti tip and has better extraction when used with a water pipe. Can't wait to see it in action with an IH!

Hey @vaporRN - to change the subject, I hope your avatar is a picture of your dog. That's one happy pup!

This thread has been quite the journey! Love it and am now insprired.

I have nearly zero hardware/electrical experience but am quite motivated to DIY this while I wait for the next batch of PS Minis. I do have a feasibility question that I hope makes sense.

I too saw antispleen's YouTube video of the bare bones IH setup and bought the parts he recommended thinking that was sufficient. However, I now see the importance of a kill switch in conjunction with a tactile switch so I'd like to make what is basically a Jarhead but instead of DC power I would use a LiPo battery (very similar to the PSMini battery) that I'll remove from the unit and in order to recharge externally.

My main question is: does the FET allow me to connect the battery, a kill switch, a trigger (tactile) switch and the driver/coil all together?

Or do I need a BMS even if I'm not recharging internally?

Hope this makes sense!
Cheers

Wow. Just saw the breakdown vid of the mini.... mind blown... one question remains, is the tic tac box in there still? Looks like maybe that black base part? . ?. Awesome, should be getting mine today... so jazzed. Thanks a million Mr Pipes, and fc . Cheers!! D.

I just finished my own Portside built . But wen I use it my trigger / clicker gets melted on top of my Vapcap, how can I fix this? Do I need to put something between the clicker and the v apcap? Maybe cork or something? Or do I need to move the clicker way down so that my vapcap goes "deeper" in to the coil?

Thanks guys

So I thought I update with some pictures:

My friend and I made this, mostly my friend, but it looks real nice to me, proud on it :D

Basically the Portside built. Again @Pipes thanks again, you helped me through the process like a champ, really fast replies always. Now the last hiccup to be solved and I can enjoy the IH VapCap experience :)

And maybe, just maybe, I have started a guy his experience into vaping (the great friend who helped me), he is contemplating to building one himself again, a smaller one, with getting a Vapcap with it. He can use most of my stuff because you get a bunch of items when you order one. China #1

Looking good!

Couple pics that might help. I use a wooden spacer with shrink tubing to keep the switch from melting.

Thanks :) I have made an adjustment so that my cap doesn't melt with a piece of wood. Works good!

Now I ran it for a couple of test runs, but I'm a bit underwhelmed. No problem, because I was underwhelmed with my vapcap at the start of it as well. So I think that I need to adjust my technique a bit.

For starters, the cap gets hot and clicks, the first time after 12-16 sec? The additional times in 5-6 seconds. But when I take hits, the vapor is really cold, like really cold.. I don't feel like I'm hitting the thing. Now I thoght about this and it may seem normal, because you only heat the metal, and not the contents. A jet flame also heats the material. So the hits are smoother I guess? Is this normal for you guys?

I feel like I have to adjust the coil so that my vapcap goes more "into" the coil so that more gets heated? Or do I just need to adjust and enjoy the colder vapor?

Here is a pic of the inside:

Also, and I don't know if this is because I thought I had to heat my Vapcap more. The wood has burned, is this normal and did I just keep the cap waaaaaay too long in it?

Thanks guys!

I've been messing with mine quite a bit in terms of technique , I stopped using my water pipe with the fat mouthpiece because i find it doesn't get me the big hits like a lighter would in 3-4 heating cycles.

The induction is much more efficient at using herb though, although it takes a lot longer. I get a bowl finished in about 15-20 cycles but you can't really let it cool down at all or you gotta heat once or twice to get it going again. I never really let it go to the second click or past at all, but i imagine that would speed things up quite a bit.

Is the insertion depth and number of coils the same as Pipes's?
when I use a torch and only heat until the click, the vapor is pretty cool. but if i heat 2-3 seconds past the second click, it can get pretty hot..

Black mini lith is here!!! Does it matter what position the on off switch is when charging? Thanks! Love this thing I can't believe it's finally here. Cheers, D

Forgot to say, @yungstar it is best with the induction heater to use the clicks as a guide and add more heat after the second click especially on the first cycle.
Max 4-5 seconds and always tamp the load slightly.
Err on the side of caution and try a second and build it up to where you are comfortable.

I don't know I think my depth is less than that from Pipes' if I look at that Mini picture. I'm gonna make a small adjustment so that my button is more down.

How does it work agai: how do I have to connect the IH, the glass tube, and the tactile button?
And is it alright that the cap won’t even touch the coil itself ?

Would really appreciate guidance ...
