Zion still more full bodied and gets thicker clouds for me once heated up. Splinter not quite there for me but it's closer to Zion than it is to Milaana. Love all 3, and I think only under a lot of use would one find much of a difference. To the average joe it's just 3 great vapes.

Edit: well got me a little surprise .. the one on the right came today. Did a quick sesh just to see whatsup and it vapes much more even than my original and the wood looks great. More texture, really love it. @RastaBuddhaTao is the man! Will do a water test today and see if it can hold a milk longer in the 14mm with the more even vaping .... excited to see!!

Thanks for the beta test feedback, vids pics and post... you earned it kid. The newer unit is better in part because of your feedback!

@ZC
Sorry about that friend. Thanks for taking note of the improvements in Quality. These first units were made by hand and the wood was slightly large. A torque test will be added to check for this on the future.

Please complete a warranty form on the www and send it in and we will repair or replace it.

Friends,
I had to retake some pics because my last one was awful. This should really show off the incredibly gorgeous grains of this unit. Man I'm so thankful. This new one vapes much more even, seems to get fatter rips on lower temps (at 25W right now instead of 28W) and as a result of all of this holds flavor longer. An already amazing vape just got better.

With everything setup right you don't need to stir at all with the Splinter. This pic is after 1 hit on 370 and 2 hits on 390, no stirring. 3 huge tasty rips and no sign of a hot spot at all.

Edit:

Finished that bowl on 420 without stirring. 10 hits total temp stepping from 370 to 420. ABV isn't as even as a conduction or hybrid but I put it in the Grasshopper on 5 and only got a wispy basically not worth it hit. More than finished enough for me.

Edit 2:

Had a little Splinter/Milaana photo shoot

@mucsusn, is that a custom made woodscents stem? Just beautiful!
Yes, that is a Kingwood 18X18 with which I use a small Ddave basket from his EQ mod kit. Quite a lucky find when I got the Zion on FC classifieds.......it's my go to stem for all things RBT.......already used it with my new Splinter. I was planning on reaching out to Ed in the next few days to get some of his shop time for the same stem in a couple of different woods. Damn, this shit is fun!

And on another note, I fear that I may have acquired a touch of MAS (Mod Acquisition Syndrome)...a Vaporesso Tarot Nano, with built-in 2500mah Li-Po. Should be able to get the Splinter into a man-baggable format for those days out when you just want to do it well.....

OK, a couple more questions:

What is the height of the Splinter & the short & long stems? Do the longer stems make the vapor noticeably cooler. My guess is no, but have to ask?

These first units were made by hand and the wood was slightly large. A torque test will be added to check for this on the future.

So the waitlist orders will be massed produced? so we won't have to worry about this issue? Also, do you think those of us on the waitlist may have a choice of other woods like blackwood or canary? (fingers-crossed!)

Thanks all!

What has everyone been using on their mod (stainless, nickel, titanium, etc)? The iHeat needs to be set on stainless but the Splinter runs too cool when in stainless.
Good question. It's probably been answered before but.....what's the chamber made of?

Edit: Wait. ...I'm confusing myself. If it's just like the milaana/Zion then it would be glass?

My intuition in this learning curve is that TCR is all relative in our case. Pretty sure that the HSA tech in the heater is SS, but, whatever..... I’m already finding that, going into this, my already developed RBT skills are playing the greatest role in my instant success with the Splinter. And Wattage mode is pretty much like using a Zion, only cooler......you know, because of the tech, and the modern/old school combo feel......it’s going to be cool as shit to bring this out in a gathering of smokers.

So, for now, I’m having massive success with wattage mode in both of my mods.....it really is, for now at least, a much cooler, more elegant Zion. Absolutely loving it. Came home tonight with no grind left, so just pinched a bud and dropped it in....two cycles, then a stir. Beastly........

For anyone who has a Milaana and thinks they don't need one of these you may want to reconsider. Regulation makes all the difference in the world. You can take long slow draws without charring/risk of burning your herb and still get nice thick TASTY clouds. The only complaint I ever really had with the Milaana was that even when you get the hang of it you still kind of have to think about how hot it's getting and not let it burn. With this thing it's sooooooo much easier and more relaxing to use. I still love my Milaana, and the end result is going to be about the same, but the Splinter definitely has its advantages.

Mine came and I think the handmade wood is beautiful. I know there's a value to uniformity but I'm glad I've gotten one of the handmade ones.
So while I'm waiting to use it I'm going to have to read through this and the other box mod threads to figure out what you all mean by watts and how many to set them at. I got the 2/3 battery evic but haven't plugged it in yet.

My two favorite things in 1 picture.

Went for a little Splinter n backstreet cruise and was super enjoyable. Listened to a new album and another favorite. Barely got through a few hits before it was too much. Just so strong. Look at what the bowl looks like by the time I tapped out. At least I have some left over for later :)
