I'm definitely glad to see forward momentum, though I have to admit to have settled into a routine here at about 3 1/2 months in. I like the glass bowls I've tried but I keep going back to my Ti bowl. Seems strange, we know Ti is not flavor neutral. Perhaps its because of its pairing it just hits better than my glass bowls.

I do have a question though. With all the Ti in the head itself as the origin of the air path, would there still be an influence on the flavor, or is the convective air neutralized as the Ti isn't contact with the resin?

But what screen do you use? The link to the ones he posted look like it would let lots of bits thru. Especially since I'm using a kannastor which turns my herbs into shreds
I use the Titanium screen.
The Top Shelf fine grinder makes herb the finest I have seen, and the titanium screen does not let stuff through.
buy a ShowerHead,
I agree.
Showerhead rocks especially if your main interest id flower.
I like the 18MM Male Body bucket, and the Panhead with a post.
Love them both.

Still using the errlectric double weaves, but the appeal of the glass bowls (at least for me, i know some others as well) is using a glass screen as well. If the "heating element" is the only thing that's Ti (since coil not rly exposed at all) I'm pretty happy.

If you could get them to make a glass bowl with a little viewing area, and a glass screen suitable for a medium-fine grind @Likes2vape I would be very interested. Otherwise I still get nice flavor and minimal particulate from the Ti bowls+double weave.

Vaping some ridiculous wedding cake at 690 tonight in this little 7in SoL perc bubbler from CCG using the 14mm stubby bowl... been heavy testing concentrates with my hexnail since I got it so it's nice to hit some potent flowers and get to the same level but a little more comfy... and Wedding Cake is a very very nice comfy strain :)

We'd like your feedback on the ideal glass bowl! Below is a sample of a glass bowl that will work with the FP system. Please take a moment and try to visualize the drawing in you own setup/environment. Love it? Hate it? Have an idea for a change? ----> Let us know.

As we are not glass designers we are completely open to suggestions to improve function, design, and manufacturability. The OD must be consistent and parallel to properly interface with the machined flowerpot coil nut. The ID of the coil nut can be adjusted to fit the final production glass. It is our thoughts that the OD of the glass bowl where the coil nut interfaces be the same diameter as the raw material to best maintain consistency. We need the ShowerHead to sit safely and secure on top of the glass for dabs. We need to maintain the open direct airflow from the ShowerHead directly 1/2" above the 3/4" screen. To accomplish this design objective we feel the OD of the coil nut must grow to 1.25" (the same dia as the coil cover).

Thoughts?

Here's our design criteria list for the newVape glass FlowerPot bowl.

1) Maintain direct straight line airflow from the ShowerHead over the entire 3/4 screen.
2) 18mm male
3) Glass Screen (by itself it allows way to much fine grind thru, but works great for little nugs)
4) Accept and Retain a 19-20 mm metal screen (3/4") sitting on top of the glass screen. (small glass balls for screen retention is desired)
5) Handle
6) OD straight as possible for 13-15mm
7) 28-29mm OD dia 1.25" (As stated this will require new 20mm coil nut same dia as coil cover)
8) Must be safe and stable when the energized head is sitting on top of glass bowl while applying dab. (will need to be tested on rigs that have 45° joints.)
9) Accept a health stone (or equivalent) .75" ID (for convection dabs)

Looks pretty good to me, just a couple of questions:

For point 3 (glass screen), is this a built in glass screen, or a free sitting screen that is otherwise retained by some mechanism?

For point 4, does this mean the double-weave TI screens will fit?

If the answer to 3 is "built in screen" and the answer to 4 is "yes", will the glass screen have enough of a gap in it to be able to get an implement through it to push the screen and/or appropriately sized health stone up from the bottom if additional "omph" is needed to extricate either of these things from the bowl?

Final question about point 5 (handle), will there be some appropriately sized tubing available for the handle similar to what the current FP adjustabowls have? I like being able to gently tap some part of my bowl on the edge of the abv jar while the bowl is inverted and you definitely need a soft bumper of some sort with glass. If no, this aspect isn't a dealbreaker for me as hardware stores and the tubing they peddle exist for a reason. ;)

Those are my main concerns as someone who would likely still use a screen besides the glass one, and also likes to be able to invert my bowls to dump them into my jar without screens going every which way.

I’ve been an occasional FC reader for years, but it wasn’t until I bought the FP that I really wanted to join the conversation. I finally finished reading this entire thread a few days ago, so I can finally talk about new developments while understanding the FP and thread history.

Right now I’m using the shovelhead and panhead capped mostly at 525, 555 or 585, and uncapped at 616 or 666. To me the taste is best at the lower end, and it suffers significantly in the higher 600s, but it does get denser faster!

There’s a lot more to say about it, but I’ll save it for future posts.

I was about to tag you to get NV’s thoughts on the recent bowl discussions, so thanks for letting us know what you’re looking at!

Overall I like the design, even if I have to buy another nut, but I do have a couple of small reservations and questions.

1. A lot of people would like to actually see the contents of the bowl in use; is it tall enough to see under the nut right now?

Would making it taller significantly hurt performance?

2. It seems that many people take breaking these bowls, especially the handles, as an inevitability. I know you can’t completely fix that, but would maybe a metal band around the middle with a screw-in handle be worth considering to reduce the amount of breakage?

It might take a bit of creative thought to make it work consistently with what I’m guessing are looser glass tolerances, but it should eliminate a lot of breakage without putting metal back inside the bowl.

3. I’m not thrilled with the idea of putting a metal screen back into a glass bowl, but I’m not sure that better suited glass screens are available, so I guess I can live with that or try @Chicken #420 ’s favorite degummed hemp fiber under the glass screen.

4. That type of glass screen seems to have a lot of space toward the outside which might make non-metal solutions more difficult by letting a lot of ground material easily fall through. Are there other options for that part?

5. It would also be nice if these fit into the latest base while not in use, but with the GonG connector itself being so tall, and again glass tolerances being looser from what I know, I’m not sure it’s possible to make it fit in the existing holes.

Maybe a riser that could screw into one of the existing post holes with glass bowl holders on top of it?

There are a lot of ways to do this, but it seems like you guys are on the right track. I hope we can see at least a prototype sometime soon!

is this a built in glass screen, or a free sitting screen that is otherwise retained by some mechanism?

Still a WIP, but our thought was a basic glass screen that is built-in, but as its glass we can't make very fine holes in it, so it will only hold larger nugs. We'd like to design it so that if you choose to add a double weave screen, it will fit and be retained. Degummed hemp fiber or ceramic screens will also be able to sit on the built-in portion

For point 4, does this mean the double-weave TI screens will fit?

Yep!

If the answer to 3 is "built in screen" and the answer to 4 is "yes", will the glass screen have enough of a gap...

Yep!

Final question about point 5 (handle), will there be some appropriately sized tubing available ...

Maybe; a simple addition either by you or by us, but for the moment we're focusing on function right now. As this is glass we don't recommend glass on glass debowling, the Spike in our FP base is what we are building it for, but if G on G is your thing, you do you!

1. A lot of people would like to actually see the contents of the bowl in use; is it tall enough to see under the nut right now?

I agree, but as this increases the overall height of the system, we will start with a shorty bowl, but a taller version is doable for those that want; I don't see why we wouldn't offer both, I'll speak with Edwyn about it.

Would making it taller significantly hurt performance?

Nahhhh. The GS seems to function well despite it needing rooms with 12ft ceilings. :worms:

2. It seems that many people take breaking these bowls, especially the handles, as an inevitability. I know you can’t completely fix that, but would maybe a metal band around the middle with a screw-in handle...

Definitely interesting, but sounds overly complicated.

3. I’m not thrilled with the idea of putting a metal screen back into a glass bowl, but I’m not sure that better suited glass screens are available...

Exactly. Double weave offers filtration that glass can't match. Unless...someone makes a frit screen.

so I guess I can live with that or try @Chicken #420 ’s favorite degummed hemp fiber under the glass screen.

Agreed.

4. That type of glass screen seems to have a lot of space toward the outside which might make non-metal solutions more difficult by letting a lot of ground material easily fall through. Are there other options for that part?

Working on that.

5. It would also be nice if these fit into the latest base while not in use, but with the GonG connector itself being so tall, and again glass tolerances being looser from what I know, I’m not sure it’s possible to make it fit in the existing holes.

I just put a test bowl in the FP base, and there's a slot that it fits very well!

@NewVape420 Just don’t forget about all your customers with dab rigs that need female bowls - I’d be all over a Pan/Shovel Head with a 14/18 female....

The female bowls are a bit of a thing...they don't need the adjustability that the male bowls do. TBH we've had so little demand for a female version of the Pan/ShovelHead that we haven't prioritized it, but I will bring it up with Edwyn today.

The old style 14mm/18mm female bowl (with groove for the screen) works perfectly for me still. I have a 14mm male rig and do get some resin on the outside of the joint, but that's no biggie.

I see no real reason to change the female bowls atm. Mine never gets stuck, and I use the hemp fiber wrapped handle, not a solid silicone wrapped one... if it does get stuck, putting the head back on for 10 seconds and letting the resin heat up again allows me to simply twist the bowl right off the male joint.

The glass bowl looks good. I suppose only being able to get all-glass with big nugs would force me to do whole nugs/chunks more... but I would really like the ability to do ground buds with all glass too if this is even possible.

For now though, I'm happy... though I assume we won't be seeing either the Stevenlmz bowl or NV bowl anytime soon due to CNY/dev/etc... but at least the gears are turning!

My shovelhead (or panhead I dont even remember) and coilcover are out for delivery, yayayay. hoping to be able to drop temps on my hexnail a bit :)

edit:

well, there's no groove machined onto my 14mm post, so, looks like adjustabowl testing will begin another day...

edit2:

shit i didnt pay enough attention during leak-gate :D got my shit working now. we good. shovelhead is A W E S O M E

no more burning my fingers trying to remove ole stubby while the herb is still hot to dump it in my abv jar! yayayay

A tiny bit of experimentation this morning testing out the 14mm Male Body bowl with a very small bubbler.
I used a glass adapter to go from 14mm male into the 18mm top. The adapter is 14mm f to 18mm M.

I have the beautiful Mobius Bubbler and 18MM panhead, but was playing with potentials.

New glass bowl will be able to hold and properly vaporize .5 correct?

Any time estimate on when the new glass bowl will be released?

And any idea when the showerhead will be back in stock / for sale?

Make sure your billing address matches the address attached to your credit card. That was giving me big issues at first
It was not the address issue, once i pressed “checkout” the loading wheel just kept spinning forver until one time it just randomly worked. Whatever, im just glad its ordered
