the extract makers will be courting your reviews
that's already happening. the majority of everyones focus is instagram so that's where i'm putting mine currently outside of youtube (the CCC is the channel by the way, it's the Cannabis Connoisseur Connection)

in regards to branching out, really i just need to put my face on instagram more and that's about it. doing things like message board updates are a long term, high risk time investment, i strongly feel i got lucky with the reception i've found here. things are moving so fast for me right now i'm just trying to keep my head on straight.

regarding the MP-e, i don't know if it's necessarily the best macro lens ever made. i don't have enough experience with various macro lenses to accurately pass judgement on it. the 1:1 factor is a bit limiting, i feel like if it somehow backed out to 1:2 it would then be the ultimate lens for shooting nugs. for now, at least in my arsenal, it's a specialty lens for detailed close ups. i actually find myself using it for video more than stills currently, the bokeh is mint. using it is amazing aesthetically, the density of it, the chug of the shutter when it's on your camera..it really makes me realize that my camera body (an SL1 crop sensor which has me fiending for full frame) is very much entry level.

that bit on the tilt shift lens is amazing! i had the chance to meet @weedshoots at chalice and talk shop for an hour or so, talked about stacking and gear, have you heard of the new olympus OM-D EM-10ii? it has built in image stacking which blows my mind..but is an MFT sensor.. i also just discovered magic lantern - a custom firmware for canon cameras - that has an internal stacking plugin available for it. that tilt shift functionality looks promising for macro..why stack if you can effectively get the whole nug in focus at macro distance? time saving worth looking into..thanks for the share!

this week is more sauce. i think it'll be the taffie "diamondz" sauce from gold coast.

and here it is! the taffie diamondz sauce from gold coast extracts
Hi Chase - thanks for the review. Any idea what that sauce retails for? Is this another $80-100/gram stuff.

And thanks for clearing up about the temp. I have a Liger 2.0 with SiC AND I have a k-type thermometer and have been looking at the deltas between coil temp (as reported on my controller) and dab surface temp.

I run my Liger most often at about 585 as the set point and found in the middle of my insert that the temp was about 545 for a 40 degrees delta. I am also a disciple of the @mutten840 school of coil fitting, i.e. spread out vertically a bit and real tight on the body. Makes a big difference.

I imagine with the heat shroud that your delta may even be a bit less.

Cheers

sorry, forgetting to include so many points over last 1/2yr. Do use proper due diligence before getting into those area of photography/videography that gets expensive. Canon MPE65mm is very difficult to use, needs very bright lighting, which can be problematic when you want to avoid harsh shadows. Lighting is everything in macro-photog, so many ppl do such a poor job with lighting, even those semi-pros. Nikon has a PC (perspective control, their name for tilt/shift) 85mm, similar to the canon 90mm, both of these are macro lens sharp, professional level quality, if not weather sealed. Pro level, means pro price, even used.

^another one on how difficult it is to use the MPE65, and alternative options.
You can rent these specialty items to see if you might want to purchase...kind of expensive over a wk or 2, but worth it if you think you'll end up buying one of these. LensRentals.com &

^this link i wanted to show last post, I have read somewhere else that the extension & converters will work with Canon tilt/shift lenses(supposedly), without problem. That is what I would go for, after renting them to make sure. you will note in the highest magnification images, the fluorescent lighting ring around the lens is showing as a white 'ring' all over the rose petals, where this is a reflection of the water droplets.

Might rent a 5DR to see if 50MP sensor can result in more 'magnification' through that ultra high-resolution.

Jungle Boys, been following them for 2yrs, since I started going to TLC..they look all big-business to me, expanding, expanding, getting bigger & bigger. But quality wise...hmm? Did you try their new line of full melt ice waxes? I got some 2 mo ago, was very fresh, probably made with the month. The market is in constant flux, who knows what will be the landscape even 6mo from now, especially with retail starting nxt yr.

Wanted to get Chase's opinion on a few cross linked threads, which I'll post up here...seeing that in a short while I'll be going on ~shabbatical for unknown time period...wherein the FMP should progress to fruition...can hope.

Also @Chase, looking over the past yr of reviews, has your palate/taste preferences changed/improved/gotten worse? For instance, Utopia's Banana OG, impressed you much back then. Do you think because of a year of more experience, that the Utopia is now as impressive? Have you reached new 'bar' levels'. Do you appreciate anything differently now that you did not back then?

Chase mentioned Rumpwax in one of these epi. I still have a small amount of RW 'chocolope' crumble that was pretty terpy back then, Oc5 '15. Just got some Terp Preservation Society 'Chocolope' & Clem#9- and while terpy, didn't seem to impress as much as I remembered the RumpWax....kind of disappointed the state of the art tech has not improved much over time, if you go by that comparison. Southern Humbolt Terps, Strawberry-Lemonade, less expensive than Terp Pres. Society, but less terpy. Something I keep wondering about, while all are concerned with lab testing standards...I sure hope some type of regulation can occur on weight standards. I 1g Lemon Skunk sauce from Nature's Lab, and it seemed to be quite generous in visual quantity. I'm getting all these very liquidity distallate's & sauces, seems to be well under 0.5g, more like 0.4 or less, just looking at the physical displacement of the product...cynical, but I wouldn't be surprised if the weights are short on a majority of these concentrates, possibly a significant amount.

So, you done posting TT's to FC cause its been a while?? No criticism, just wondering what your plans are?

P.S. - apparently Chase posted a review to YT about six days ago and I embedded it below. If you hang in until the end, he talks just a bit about what's been going on lately with reviews.

Cheers

Hi Chase - welcome back. Missed the TT's. Always looked forward to them. Also like the expanded format with the guest extractionist.

All good.

Oh....did I even notice that the turkey pin is now gone in favor of a dab tool? (jk with you haha).

Take care and keep 'em coming.

episode 55, reviewing the Terp Preservation Society Sour SFV sauce
Thanks for another great TT review, Chase!

Wow, I have used cannabis since I was 14 and now I'm 65 and yes, the scene has changed dramatically in the last ten years and particularly in the last 3-4.

There will be large corporate presence in MJ. Too much money to be otherwise. But the states have a big part to play in just how "big business" it all gets.

In my state of MD, we only have MMJ and the program just opened three months ago. Growers were limited to 15 licenses total and table stakes to enter that market and meet all regulatory requirements is probably in the $10M and up range. No outdoor, no boutique grows, no home grow. This is all new and may change over time (particularly wrt to home grow).

Now, best I can follow CA's moves to full regulated legalization is that they gave the farm away to big corporate interests. I have no problem with corporate grows, but CA was to protect the small growers for a given period of time and it seems that the ability to "stack licenses" is a complete and utter sell out to corporate interests at the expense of innovative and highly motivated growers.

We can't keep corporations out....just not going to happen. But I would urge all of us to be politically active on MJ issues and strongly support a set aside or room in the regs for small botique growers/processors.

Now, in MD we also have up to 15 processor licenses but shipment of concentrates is just picking up steam. Been vaping some sugared live resin and just starting to see some sauces (like in the last three weeks) but haven't tried them yet....but I will :-)

Always enjoy your reviews....oh, and was that the turkey pin I saw in the melt shot? hehe
