Thank you to you @Baron23 (forgot to give you some love for introducing me to Huffy on my OP) I worked with Sam and told him i wanted it to hold two Ligers. He made the base 4 1/2 inches so it would hold one without tipping. I love this thing so far and Sam is great to work with. Keeps you updated and sends pics. Great guy, great service and ships fast. Will def. be buying from him again.

Aw, I didn't mean to fish for a compliment (but I'm above doing that! LOL) but was just curious as I'm the only person I have come across to get one from them. I don't think they make and sell this anymore except by special request and I can understand why as we all might want different terminations on the arms.

Your is very cool. Hope it serves you well and long.

Thank you @Baron23 but LOL, Before my post of the huffy glass, i search back to find out who it was that provided me the info for Sam but i totally forgot to give you credit when i posted it. Now all my nails have a place to call home and look organized. I just wish i can find a way to organize the dam enail cable. Like a retractable, ex-tractable system. My dam dog runs around my coffee table and gets his leg caught on the cable and pulls a hot nail on the carpet. And im off topic....

Currently, this is not one of his current production pieces as with all the different type of joints, its basically a special request or custom made order.

I hope your wrong and they do get more 20mm Sapphire inserts, I msged them about a week ago about it and was told that they werent sure when they were getting more 20mm Sapphire but would have 20mm Quartz in a day or two but that hasnt gone up on the site yet and its been well or a day or two.

Any ideas when the Liger 4.0 will be released?

I also heard from someone else that spoke with them that the quartz dish are back in stock in a couple of weeks. But i didnt hear what sizes and assumed just flat coil. If they do have a 20mm quartz, ill grab one to keep on hand.

Please bring back 20mm sapphire!!! No clue on 4.0 but at this point, take care of the 3.0 before worrying about the 4.0!! And dont be worried that you wont get it. Just be worried you dont get a nipple. You will get it just like 2-3 weeks later than you expected and they will give you a tsunami cap as a sorry.

Well I just got my 30mm bundle and it has the nipple. Damn, hopefully a replacement is possible.
I used wet/dry 800 first, then 2400 to sand the nipple off the bottom of the bucket. T2 is actually a soft metal compared to most stuff I work with, and will come off nice and even if you pay attention to the process. It stabilized my dabs and knocked about 50 degrees off my high 5 kit. The unit is what I guess to be fully functional now ( i.e. out performs every nail I have ever owned). This is a wonderful product mired in a business team that cannot perform well in a small business context given the nature of their client base. I would love to help them out, but they don't seam to want advice...nor engineering help....nor general business practice advice.

Well I heard back from CCA710 support regarding the small crack in my sapphire 20mm insert.

They say this is a reoccurring problem with the 20mm Sapphire insert and was offered some options. I do like how they will offer several options. Here are my options:

1x Sapphire 20mm replacement
1x Obsidian replacement w/$100 store credit
1x Sapphire 30mm Replacement

I am not sure on what i will do. I am afraid if i choose a 20mm sapphire replacement, i may be waiting for it a long time. But ultimately, What i really want is a solid 20mm sapphire insert. I already have a solid 30mm Sapphire that is strong along with a 30mm SiC and Obsidian but i only own one cracked sapphire 20mm insert.

Hey FCers, please let me know what you guys would choose.

if it were me, i'd go for a 20mm sapphire replacement. you said it yourself, you already have a solid set up, so why be impatient about the wait?

it seems these lab grown sapphires tend to go thru bad batches once in a while. it happened to CCA before and I remember it happened to D-nail before as well (who offer no warranty on the sapphire at all btw). waiting a while might actually be good as it will probably mean the new 20mm sapphire would be from a different batch from your cracked one

Thank you @sarkunit, I am not opposed to sanding the nip down myself. The part I don't really understand is how you are actually sanding it. Since it's deep in the bucket, were you using some sort of tool to attach the sandpaper to? Use a finger and just try to work it back and forth? Did you use water for the 800 or 2400 grit?

I'm about to head to Ace Hardware to pick up some stuff for a grow light I'm building, so any pointers would be helpful on what to get and how to actually sand inside the bucket!

The insert base, that the coil covers, unscrews from the top of the bucket where the airflow adapter connects.

Thanks. I've read what you said over and over while holding the liger and I just don't get it. I've twisted in every possible direction. What am I missing? Maybe mspaint some arrows for me? I'm feeling pretty stupid haha.

hmm....maybe the 30 is different, on the 20mm the lip under your thumb is where the pieces screw together.

Sorry to get back to you so late. I just wrapped the sand paper around the head of a small ratchet tool and went to work. I used circular motions to keep the removal of material even, and worked from the middle out. I tested it flat to the touch (highly inaccurate but I have no ready access to a shop) and then polished it up. The insert lays flush, and rattles side to side very minutely. It took about 45 minutes of work, start to finish.

Yeah I don't think those are two seperate pieces on the 30mm. Thank you though.

Yeah....I hear you and I generally want what I want also (we know our own minds, yeah?) but they do seem to have offered you a number of accomodating options.

I have not used the sapphire. I have a V2 20mm that I recently upgraded to obsidian from SiC (small upgrade IMO) and I'm VERY happy with that insert. Its stable and strong, it has great thermo dynamics, and it cleans up with a q-tip like nothing I have had before.

I hope you get what you want...but if its a 'recurring' problem recognized by CCA710, I dunno if I would dip my toe into that particular well again.

Cheers

Thanks i kind of needed to hear this. I worry alot and just the lack of communication from CCA710 has had me stressin. Even when i knew from others experiences that you will get a great product just be prepared to wait, i guess im not as good at waiting as i thought lol:wave::doh: I hope i get a extra for the wait at least :D They did say they were getting more 20mm Quartz soon but were not sure on the sapphire, still sounded like they would be getting them eventually just didnt have a date.

I would wait for the 20mm sapphire, the wait will suck (im waiting just to try a liger ) but you do have the 30mm liger to hold ya over.

My 30mm has the nippple as well they told me 10 days ago they would send me a new bucket and then they tell me yesterday that it will be 2-3 weeks yet before they send me a replacement...
Has anyone tried using their halos in the 30mm liger if so is there a taste difference between the sapphire halo and liger halo?

I went with the obsidian 20mm and store credit of $100. Which basically gave me a 20mm Liger and obsidian for $200.

They said the 20mm sapphire have been having issues and the chances of it cracking again is high. The last the CSR heard was they may discontinue it but not sure. He was also checking if they had a couple of extra left but if it is from the same batch than I wouldn't want it cuz if that cracks .I'll just be pissed at CCA for ever even tho they warned me.

If they release a new batch of 20mm sapphires, I will grab one. Having a 20mm obsidian at least provides me a back up insert to the cracked sapphire.

I didn't even consider the 30mm sapphire as I already have one.

Meaning putting the Halo, inside the Liger? you could but......why? the heat transfer due to the size difference would be a non starter for just about anyone. Maybe Im misunderstanding your question though.

They actually have the same od bottom the sides are a lil short but it will still have the heat on bottom and around the sides...i been using it for a day and no issues...i get more vapor than with the obsidian and i havent had any issues with it splattering under the dish...and i get better flavor with the sapphire halo being in the liger than on the slim base actually... and waiting for 30mm sap to get back in stock and was curious about trying.. also waiting on my nippless bucket and with the halo having the hole in the middle i dont have the nipple probelms....

I removed my dimple today. I used a non-titanium nib for my dremel, and it did the job just fine for the little section sticking out. To even it out afterwards I used a stainless steel brush wheel attachment, and that worked perfectly. Ruined the gold finish there, but it's covered by the insert anyway! The delta between the insert and the enail coil is significantly lower, so I can confirm that it makes a difference with my unscientific testing lol

Ummm, what? no they do not, nor is the diameter variable across the height of the insert. The Halo is small enough to not touch the sides of the Liger bucket at all...leading to horrible thermal transfer and hot spots on you're sapphire just waiting to crack....more power to you if you're seriously pulling this off but Id re evaluate my Obsidian setup and figure out where I was going wrong instead.

Maybe he's putting the Halo in the 30mm insert?
That may fit snugly?

I have some questionable concentrate that I've put off trying for a while... I have a few different quartz dishes from dhgate for that exact purpose. One of them fits in my 30mm Obsidian decently (1-2mm gap), and it just did the job with the storm cell pretty decently. Will need a shallow carb cap like that or tsunami.

Edit - The quartz dish is a hoop like the Halos, so I'm thinking maybe I should try putting in 2 concentrates.... One on each surface.

I just got an email from CCA saying they had some quartz inserts in stock for the 20mm and 30mm, and are on a bit of a sale. I was thinking of picking one up as a spare since they have discontinued the SIC. However, they are "XL" size -- 2x as tall as the old ones. I'm using the Gordo Riptide Bubble Cap, and think it is not going to work with this, as it appears it might be too long for the insert. If anyone using a 20mm with the Riptide Bubble cap could take a look and let me know what you think, I would appreciate it.

I have 3 Gordo Riptide bubble caps and each one has a bit different length tip. All of them hit the edge of my sapphire and obsidian inserts if I don't put the in fairly straight and then drop down another couple millimeters for the airtight fit. That means the tip is actually lower than the top of the insert. I think you'd be just fine with quartz insert and Gordo bubble cap.

Received my 30mm Liger last week and yes, it has a nib as well... Exactly same size as @Bullshift it seems.

As an international customer I am completely torn; don't wanna damage the bottom sanding it, and am pretty far away for asking for a replacement :cuss:. Not to mention the sub-par CS.

I think I'll just send them an email just to piss them off. it's their mess at the end of the day. :goon: Especially if I'm dropping extra on a Wierdeer titty cap/dropdown...

What do you guys think?
Risk 45 min sanding an apparently minor nib or 2 week turn-around for a replacement?
Or even worse; an argument about a replacement to top it all off?
Time isn't a concern, already have a D-nail setup so I'll be able to survive. It's more the quality issue that I'd like to address, not just for myself, but if we all get crap and don't say anything about is asking for more junk in the future...

I mean, if it is a factory second, at least they should SAY it, and give BOTH options, not just make a nice promo to lure unsuspecting customers FFS! :cuss:
