Discontinued Ghost MV1

I’d take the top green silicone out and wash it before running a crucible and lid flipped... Ghost says they’d rather not have you messing around with the top silicone but you can if you have to and it will not affect your warranty. They specifically say not to run crucibles upside down.

It was time for a cleaning so I made sure to look closely at the plastic chrome cap on the heat sink and this is what I noticed:

You can see the nub sticking up about a mm inside the cap in the top right... but that nub also fits into the little divot on the top left on the gasket when it’s assembled, so it always closes tight.

Imma fly with it next month to Vegas. I’m sure I can get away with it. The Mighty or crafty I’d be a little more afraid to travel with. With a clean heat sink assembly in, it won’t smell I’m sure. At least detectable for human noses. Maybe imma run some herbs through it.. im pretty paranoid about it actually. We’ll see man. Domestic travel shouldn’t be an issue hopefully.

If human noses are your concern, don't worry. They'll see it before they smell it--at least if you're not carrying it on a lanyard around your neck.

I’m kinda curious to see the reaction if there is one and what it’ll look like going through the metal detector. Might think it’s a miniature VX rocket. Nick Cage will fast rope through the opening in the ceiling down with Sean Connery to aprehend me.
Imma put it in my carry-on. From what I read, those that were stopped just had their devices swabbed.
The mighty I’m sure would kinda look like a pipe bomb. An IQ is like a little metal brick. My friend has successfully flown back and forth without issue to Georgia with the Crafty.. I think it’ll be fine.

I’d spread it around my luggage in pieces.

I was thinking the same too but with no heatsink assembly in, I think it may smell. Maybe just the glass stem taken out. That glass is what kinda separates it from e juice box mods. Most of them have a plastic or metal stem.

Edit: well, now that you edited, I have to too... >.< just stiff some tp or Saran Wrap or whatever in there and plug it up.

I was planning on it being my choice for a flight to California as well (with, perhaps, the Firewood 4 as an accomplice). Both have removable batteries and crucibles/capsules can be nicely cleaned with ISO. Guess I hadn't given the silicone much thought.

I think I mentioned I brought it with me to Champs in Denver. I brought it through put together and the only reason they stopped me is because it was on top of my iPad in the X-ray. Once they saw it they swabbed it for explosives testing, ran it through the X-ray again and sent me on my way. I’d be more careful making sure it was clean in a non-legal state airport (did that on the way to Denver). In Denver I took it through after having run a few loads through it and I had some tissue hanging out of the mouthpiece. Best I can tell, TSA is looking for weapons and explosives, not trace amounts of cannabis residue.

That's my experience as well. I've travelled with vapes before and not had an issue. However, leaving a legal state, I think they are a bit more careful checking for contraband...

Not that I've had a problem anywhere, but I got the feeling they cared less in legal states. Purely speculation on my part, though. In Vegas last year they were all about testing and examining my snacks.

I got my MV1 yesterday and I’ve only run it with flowers but so far I’m super happy with it. Really does some amazing hits. I like the app, though haven’t really felt the need to use it besides just as a test.

Any complaints I have are really minor and have been voiced by others. Also it seems like the company is really committed to making this the best possible product. It seems there’s going to be fairly frequent firmware updates and I saw something on their forums about how they’re changing the heat sink a little and they’ll be emailing all current users to send them free replacements (this seemed like it’ll be a few months away).

Got a link? I just went over to vapelife and could not find the reference anywhere
Or was this through the App?

What level are you using it at?

For those not so adventurous:

“We will shortly be releasing new components for the Heat Sink and these will be available free of charge for all existing customers.

We have redesigned the ceramic sleeve, gasket and stem.

It shouldn't be possible to detach the top lid by adjusting the stem anymore and it glides up and down like a knife through butter.

In addition to the above you get a perfect seal everytime.

We will be making an official announcement next month and as soon as the parts are in stock.

Would appreciate it if we don't get bombarded by people asking for an exact date as I don't have one yet.

What I can say is that tooling is in place and tests have gone very well.

We will be releasing parts to our Beta Testers soon.

We will obviously do everything we can to get these parts released as quickly as possible.

Hope this helps.

Best

Patrick”

Lately I've started the first draw on 1, 338° I believe, purely for taste. For me, it leaves a coating behind after exhale. Awesome flavor seemed to stay around longer. Using some perfect, dried dank, I've even gotten decent clouds at that temp!

Mine just keeps over heating and I've calibrated it to green :( sucks. Clean screens clean unit clean heatsink idk.

Your unit should definitely not constantly overheat, period. I have a satin silver unit that has never overheated, not once. To be fair, my top temp is usually Amber 3, 392°

Have you reached out to Ghost?

I figured it out I'm an idiot. I kept tricking the device into thinking it was on draw number one with the longer heat up and that was causing way to much heat therefore causing it to overheat. Back on track. Boom

It may just be in my head and don't have proof BUT...

If you wait a little between draws the heater preheats longer. If I'm in a rush it seems the preheat is only 5 or 6 seconds long for each draw. If I wait, just a bit, the preheat seems to be closer to 8 to 9 seconds.

I def think you are right. I did see Patrick post about back to back hits being very ineffective. The alghorythms are showing this pattern. So apparently draw then wait then draw. I'm just to greedy and want more fast haha

Zow237,
I would like to know how many draws fcrs are getting before device goes from full charge to two lights. I am trying to understand my seemingly high battery power consumption.
