Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
I put a decent sized pinch into the stem at standard screen placement, give it a gentle tamp, and do a hit. One nice draw can over-do me. But the flavor is so good that sometimes it's hard to pull away.

I know that our reasons for using the nano are all different, and that no one size fits all, but I am always in awe of the many users who can handle sessions with the nano.

For me, a 'rec (but not really)' user, one solid hit on the nano pretty much takes care of me. I'll put in a pinch, hit it once moderately, then go back at some point later for a second moderate go. I'll give a final go at a later time if the thought occurs to me but that third hit is unusual. Two hits on the nano, strategically placed between the end of work and bedtime, and I tend to be ok. That's not 'lightly buzzed.' That's 'ok.'

I know that the Nano Beast can easily pull more out of the pinch that I put in, but I get so well taken care of with so little material that I can't begrudge a fresh pinch at the start of the next day's session.

:leaf:

I often find that I will reach my "limit" mid bowl during a session. I will leave the herb in the gong and go back to it the next day. IDK if that is bad or not, but the herb is pretty dry and is quickly used up when I hit it with the nano. Usually only a hit or two left in it. I don't have the heart to dump a half spent bowl and I don't generally save ABV.

I vape the same, after getting where I need to be with 2 to 3 nice hits at 5 1/2 I'm good. I'm a flavor chaser, so I just dump out the abv cause it doesn't taste the same.

Been loving my Nano dry this week, we had to spend some time apart and I appreciate it even more now. Short (reg) stem, XL stem, J-hook? Check, check, and check!
Blast off! Sometimes my Nano really does makes me see stars!

Picking this little muther up was a solid vapor decision. Hello to the new owners, WELL DONE!
I'm not smart enough to find it myself. @CarolKing and @ataxian led me here & sold me.

Still amazed how versatile this diminutive device is. Sometimes I just play around, loading stupidly tiny amounts just to see what the Nano does with it. It just works, it's beautiful in its analog simplicity. I appreciate its warmth in my arthritic hand, lol! Give it some beeswax and spend some time every so often rubbing it in and buffing the wood, I think they all turn more rich with love regardless of the species.

So it's fucking Friday night where I am, I raise my Nano to you all! Enjoy yourselves!

I like to do all of the things.
I use about 1/10 of a gram of a load size of flowers in the oven, that will last me for the entire session. It would depend on how big your draw is and your heat isn’t too hot. The Enano doesn’t need a lot to get the job done.:2c:

Edit
For me about 10 -12 draws. I don’t have huuuuge lung capacity.
I give mine a stir about half way through and sometimeS a second time.

That's good to hear. Yeah, I was thinking of starting off with .05G sessions and seeing what I can get from that. It's funny because in a way, I was always a microdoser because my spliffs usually only had between .05-.1 sprinkled into tobacco. So switching to vaping, while I may not save as much as some do weed-wise, I still will save myself lung health-wise. (which is more important anyway)

But we'll see. Maybe the effects (and lack of tobacco urge) will lead to fewer sessions in a day than when I spliffed. So I still may save yet.

Welcome @360 and nice job at trying to get through a bunch of the thread. At this point that would be a daunting task. Please note that when you click the "Plug In" section of the site, at the very top of the page is a category called the "Best Of". In there is a "best of" thread for the nano which covers some great info.

Also, a great move picking up a gong for your bubblers. I prefer the smoothness of going through water, but will use the stem in a pinch also.

A stem or J hook I believe favors a slower paced session where you can take small sips off the glass and spread out the experience. When I use a bubbler I take average sized hits, and like @hd_rider, usually get around 5 decent hits. I take a little break between each hit, drink some water (not the bong water :brow:) and give it a stir sometimes. This slow method is my usual session, others like to sip their meds slowly, and then there are the lung-busters too. That's what makes the world go round, and the nano can do it all.

Be sure to let us know when you get it. Give it a good 20 min warm up before you start, then have at it.

Thanks for the tip on the "Best of" section! Didn't know about that one so I went and checked it out.

Yeah, I figured I'd probably mostly use dry stems cuz they'd be closest to my former smoking preferences, but figured it could be fun to have the alternatives since I've had the bubblers lying around unused for years and it could give new (if only occasional) life to them. For the dry stems, I got the long ones though, because I heard they keep it a bit cooler and smoother. But I've also heard of some using the gongs direct to mouth for intentionally harsher hits (although I could see that getting hot). So I figured it'd be fun experimenting with it all rather than pay for additional shipping and play the waiting for delivery game later in the future.

The only thing I thought about picking up but didn't was the little stand for everything (mostly because they only had plastic and not the wood ones in stock). But I'm thinking I may try to design and 3D print my own "fancier" one once I get everything.

Supposed to arrive today (dammit, don't fail me USPS! haha) Hopefully earlier in the day rather than later since I have evening plans and wanna try it out before that.

Welcome @360
Nothing like new vape day, and you have an awesome one on route. One of those long stems is on my radar for sure.
The aluminum stand they sell is pretty sweet and holds everything together nicely.
All this concentrate talk had me break out my dedicated stem last night. A little ball of Skywalker upon a bed of GSC, crank the nano to 7.23333 =

The only other thing you might be buying in the future are extra basket screens. Epic sells them for about $5 for 5. In the future, if you use the "fclove" code you'll get free shipping.
It takes a while for me to use one up. I usually blow torch them clean and shove em back in. Occasionally you need to play with one to get it "rounded" correctly again so it sits snug in the glass. Eventually they get all burnt and cattywampus and that's when I finally put a new one in.

USPS failed me. :( Still showing expected by January 13th by 8PM (and it's 11:55 where I am). Was hoping to have some weekend time with it, but looks like my journey won't begin until Monday after work. If nothing else, this has shown me my new-found weed-willpower. Because I've had herbs for over 2 weeks now in anticipation and haven't touched them....old me would've burned them day of. These ongoing delays have really been trying to test me at times. haha. but I haven't smoked since November, sooo I can wait a few more days.

Ohh, didn't realize that was aluminum. For some reason I saw the wood and saw the other and assumed it was plastic and didn't look deeper because I liked the look of the wood so much better didn't give the other a chance. Looking at it further, I think gunmetal aluminum probably wouldn't be too bad. But I still may just try to print something.

hi people I'm in the uk and just upgraded to a v2 nano from the version 1 I had and it came today but I was wondering what plug I would need over here in the uk to run it thanks for all your help !

Hiya @modfather Welcome, I love this little thing, it's a beauty and a beast. So what you seek is a 220v to 110v step-down converter, just a small 50W-100W unit like one would use for travel. The Nano requires only 20-25W or so IIRC, you want a converter rated roughly double for redundancy to be safe. I use a 45W converter daily with no problems. I used to turn it on & off as needed until I checked it w/smart meter, it just doesn't use much electricity. Now I turn it on when I get up & off when I retire for the night.

You don't need to spend more than a tenner shipped and all. Some members report theirs emits a high-pitch hum, which is the nature of the beast with the travel units. Sometimes the whine will fade or you get the golden one that is quiet, just don't expect it and you might get lucky!

Here's a page of options from ebay. I'm afraid I don't have a recommendation for a particular seller.

Best Wishes! Thanks for the heads-up @SloJimFizz you're the best!

I have my screen pretty close to factory settings, maybe just a little bit larger bowl than factory

I have mine ground up medium grind. I start at 5, take a hit. Wait 30 minutes and go to 5.5 and take a second hit. Wait 30 minutes and go to 6, Stir it and take a hit. Stir. Wait 30 minutes and go to 6.5, stir it and cash out the bowl on 6.5.

4 draws total. This results in a mild buzz but still able to function, read technical books, I dont get PLASTERED or COUCH_LOCKED this way. If I want to get WRECKED like when smoking than I will start at 6 or 6.5 with a fresh packed bowl.

This is a versatile vaporizer and will let you either maintain an "active and energetic" buzz where you can work or if you want to get BLASTED it can do that as well. The secret to getting MAD-WRECKED is to take a LARGE hit at a high temperature.

But if you are new start at 5. I have a 1 year old E-Nano

Interesting tidbit: After vaping everyday for 6 months (and never smoking in all that time). I went to a party and smoked just one hit from a bong and I was WRECKED for like 3 hours just from a single hit. Amazing how your tolerance is altered by vaping.

Not plastic. Aluminum.

Oooops, see where this was clarified already.

While I don't check their website regularly, I have not seen the wood ones in stock for the year and a half that I have owned a nano. Maybe they sell out quickly but I have gotten the impression that they just aren't stocking the wood ones anymore.

thanks @pxl_jockey I have order one of those what lead will I need that goes into the nano from the step down convertor thanks mate

Oh sorry man, I didn't realise you don't have the lead. You'll need to order that from EpicVape direct, it's not much and shouldn't attract any extra custom charges. I just looked and the replacement lead isn't showing in accessories, but I can't imagine they aren't in stock so I would PM @nadia_epic and ask her. She reps EV here on FC and she is great and will get you sorted. Hopefully you will be up and vaping soon!
Take care! :peace:

Just spent a few minutes before vaping to fix my basket screen. As I've said before, they will get out of round and start getting all slippery. The screen will move up and down way too loosely regardless of how much gunk is in there. So I will take out the screen, stick the flat end of a pen in the screen and start reshaping it. I also spread out the skirt ends a bit to increase friction, then push it back in. Back in action. After a few bowls the reclaim will hold it in place.

Vaping on some Grape OX I think. Trying to get into the Disjointed show on Netflix. Not as good as I was hoping, but the episodes have been getting better as the series continues on. Wicked stereotypes.

I somewhat regularly clean the screens, but I think I'll start switching every few days (or like every 30 bowls or something like that). I didn't think it make too much difference until I swapped one out and the draw was much less restricted!

@modfather nice upgrade! Stepdown converters can be a nuissance, but as @pxl_jockey said, if you're lucky you'll find one that's quiet.
Mine is semi-quiet. It whines if it's been on too long, or the nano's been on a high temp for too long (several hours).
I usually just turn it on when I want a hit, and then 5 minutes later the nano's ready. Probably doesn't even take that long, but I don't really measure it.

You will probably have to do some experimenting though, as each nano is a little different, and the socket you plug it into also seems to affect it somewhat. And for those of us with converters, that will additionally introduce more variation.

But 5 seems to be a good temp, I might try that today. I usually have it set to 6.3 for a "cold start"

And if you have an adjustable screen, then that is another thing that you can adjust to your desire.

The speed at which you inhale can be used to modify the experience too. I like to draw very slow at first, until I see some nice vapor, then increase the strength of the draw.

Usually I finish a small bowl in 2-3 hits, in sequence. I just can't spread it out like some of yous!

Could any longtime Nano veterans answer a couple questions for me?

1. Does choosing one type of wood (maple, cherry, or walnut) over another impact the overall durability of this vape?

2. Under a moderate amount of use, and not running it 24/7, what kind of average lifespan can be expected?

Thanks

@Sleep Wow, your first post, welcome! Okay so I'm not a longtime Nano lover, but I have read the entire thread and I think our vets are asleep on the west coast right now so I'm the best you've got. ;) I'm sure you'll get better feedback as other (smarter) members come online later.

1. Nope, those 3 are among the most stable hardwood species, all have a tight grain. With the occasional beeswax rubdown, the wood will be well-conditioned and less likely to crack. Having said that, the odd Nano will develop a crack despite loving care, simply because the Nano's wooden "shell" isn't really that thick. In this case, get in touch with our friends at EpicVape and they'll sort you out. There are a couple of members who like their cracked Nanos and do nothing since it doesn't affect performance (apparently?) and they can't bear the thought of saying goodbye and sending it in. Pick the species you like with confidence.

2. My Nano is quite old; I'm its third owner (AFAIK) and it had not been terribly well looked after at some point before. I picked it up in the FC classifieds, it was meant to be a back-up but it is just so efficient, effective and tasty! It's waaaay out of warranty and kicks my ass daily. When(if?) it dies, and most likely before, I will call Epic and order a new one. I will always have one in my stable of vapes. One of the great benefits of ownership is the personal attention and service you'll receive should an issue arise. This is one of the largest, consistently one of the most popular threads on FC and the Nano has been around since 2012. That should tell you something IMO; if people weren't satisfied we would be reading about it.

Lots of satisfied, stoned Nano lovers :smug:

Hi All!

Just checking in...
I hope 2018 is shaping up nicely for everyone. Here at Epic we've been overwhelmed by the number of new users. It's created quite a bottleneck issue with shipping even with the additional help we've added. This mixed with our usual issues with USPS has been quite a headache for both us and customers alike. However, it looks like we're just about caught up.

The response to the Nano has been so amazing we're now on back order for a couple weeks once again.

Recently we had some major issues with our mail servers and had quite a few days, possibly over a week, that site mail (forms on our website) was not coming through. After lots of caffeine and time in my coding cave the issue has been resolved.

As always, please let me know if you need anything!

Make it an Epic day!

@Sleep Welcome to the FC. Your post about nano veterans made me wonder how long I've had my nano (plain walnut). I went back in my archives to see when I first got it. It's been almost two and a half years which is not quite as long as many others here.

With the exception of a few vacation trips, I have used my nano every day. I plug it in during the afternoon and unplug it before going to bed. It has never failed me and has worked flawlessly. In fact I can't remember a post where anyone had said their unit's heater has worn out. Usually, if anything, it would be a faulty cord which is sold separately.

It has been said that if a nano's wood is going to crack it usually does so in the first few months of ownership and would be covered.

Safe to say the nano is a wise investment and a quality product. There is a lot of plastic shit being sold out there in the vape market.

Take a look at the whole "plug in" category here on the FC and tell me which vape has more posts/views than the nano.
