@AJS done some research and i think the jaybo thing is basically a red herring and you have a wismec. Can you see a model number anywhere? Inside the battery compartment or on the bottom?

Edit: does your mod have the larger screen? If so i think you have a rx200s. Updating software found here:

http://www.wismec.com/software/wismec-tc-software-for-upgrading-reuleaux-rx200s/

Download this and delete the firmware included.

Funky junkys firmware is here:

http://tubo.lamart.ch.

Just connect your mod via us to a pc run the updating software. It should autodetect and find your current firmware. Then update and select the tubo software.

You need to double check you have a rx200s. Rx200 is not upgradeable.

I have to give my opinion about pirating @funkyjunky software; here and it is not favorable.

@funkyjunky did the work (or paid someone to work) to have amazing firmware and you guys are downloading like it did not cost FJ anything?

This just feels wrong to me.

Funky junkys firmware is based on myevic which is open source. Myevic was not written by funky junky.

Based on myevic. He "took care" to get it maximized for his vapes and everyone thinks it belongs to them??
It's open source. As long as they aren't selling it and abiding by the terms of the license, folks are free to do with it as they please so long as they follow the license. Others are free to change it, enhance it etc. as long as they abide by the license.

Finished what is, for me, rigorous testing of my Splinter:
- got newbies high. Well, Pax users, so they might as well have been first time vapers. Bumped up the settings a little to lower difficulty, but was using cooling wand which upped difficulty, not scientific, but everybody did great, loved the flavor and the effects.
- vaped while walking the dog uphill. There were years after fcing that I couldn't do this, Grasshopper could do it when it was working, Milaana easily has the power but I don't always have the focus. Also w the cooling wand, going for low temps, this is the toughest test I have. Total success.

I do think the cooling wand will mostly be for at-home use, I want to be lazier w/ a bit more warmth and feedback out in the world. I already know the Splinter/cooling wand together pass the get-ready-quick-while-the-kids-are-queueing-up-an-animated-movie test.

Production Splinter has landed and "eye" gotta say she's a beauty!

Trimmed down to the max and looks great with the mouthpiece stems Ryan cut down for me.

And oh how I've been missing this bad boy. I call it the battle axe.

kNQT72n.jpg

All trimmed down to work with my RBT gear and Tubo. It is unwieldily yes but it provides the largest, coolest and tastiest dry hits of anything in my collection. I really only use it at home and in bed so its size is actually an advantage when chilling back.

That knot on that walnut looks sweet @Other Side ! Hope you're enjoying the hell out of it.

When was your pre-order date if you mind me asking? Since it looks like there won't be any tracking it might be nice if whenever we receive a Splinter we can post when our pre-order date was so the rest of us can maybe get a jist of how far along Ryan is with the pre-orders.

I had the privilege of beta testing the Splinter. I paid Ryan before I got my first version. I had been using the last version (maple unit with burned in RBT logo) almost exclusively for a few months so looking forward to getting used to this one.

Love the nubby 7th floor mouthpiece! Does it cool well enough?

Every bit as well as the short stock mouthpiece and maybe even a little better. I have a couple loading methods too. One mouthpiece I have will still accept an ELB crammed in there, the other is using Ryan's tophats.

I'll shoot out a pic of my spalted Mi later. I have a black one on that unit and it looks pretty sweet!

I prordered and am in the UK. Not sure if i was one of the lucky ones to be in the first batch or not. With no tracking i have no idea. From reading this thread most folks got theres on the 6th. I need to allow extra time for shipping over the pond. Should be arriving in the next couple of days by my calculation - or not until next year if i missed this batch. If not my MVT will have to do until after christmas.

I'll try to get some pics and videos for everyone when I'm off from vacation. So bummed I broke 2 stems back to back so all I have is an old clear stem from my OG Milaana. I really want to buy another black one, it makes my Splinter looks so fresh. They're just kinda expensive with shipping. So so bummed about it tho cuz I've never broken anything really.

The quality really is top notch. If you guys are pre ordered I think you should be very excited and expect a super fun vape. Can't wait to hear more reviews from everyone. Literally my ONLY complaint is the uneven vaping on the higher end, but some units so far haven't experienced that and I've found ways around it such as spinning the Splinter half way around throughout a hit when over water. Rips like a fucking beast.

I second that. I got a Splinter a couple of days ago:

That's walnut, nicely finished. It's a pleasure to hold in your hand.

I had the pleasure of testing the three alpha versions that RBT made for proof of concept, and this is quite similar to the one that I preferred. I've been looking forward to trying a production version, and I am not disappointed. I have used it for only a day and half, but already I think it might replace the Milaana as my regular. Here it is in running configuration:

Xv6iMnO.png

That's a Joyetech Cuboid. I've read here that they aren't the best choice, but I didn't know anything about mods when I got it. (I still don't.) Nevertheless, so far it's worked just fine with the Splinter. 27.5W is the flavour spot, which I estimate to be equivalent to about 160°C. That's based on the taste and how it feels in my throat, not on any measurement. Even with the short stem, I find that the vapour is not harsh at low power settings, even if you pulse it for a while. I don't usually pulse, but I've tried it for science. The Cuboid times out at 10 seconds, but for me that's just right for a nice hit.

Cloud seekers will want to go to a higher power setting of course, but the Splinter will not let you down. Strictly for science, I did a small load (~.05g) using 35W and a bit of pulsing. As many of you know, I'm not much good at milking up my WP-010, but with the Splinter I can do it. Three times.

You can reach combustion with it without a doubt, since I nearly did so last night and I was only using 40W. In the interests of science I started at 27.5W and stepped up 2.5W every couple of hits, so at 40W the load was already tinder dry. I was using just a short stem and I pulled a bit too hard. Suddenly the vapour got hot, harsh, and tasted nasty. No cherry, but it was close. Would never have happened except I was trying to advance science, just saying.

If you like the Milaana or the Zion, you will like the Splinter. I think it's worth buying a box mod just so you can own a Splinter. I did, and I have both the Milaana and the Zion.

@pakalolo - I think that mod can be used with the firmware we’re using for the Tubo. If so, I think you’ll like the extra functionality that’s built in.

@pakalolo: did you find some time to test TC mode yet?

No, and I'm still using the original firmware. I've seen references to both but I'll have to go back and review, since I didn't really pay attention at the time. I want to get comfortable with a vanilla configuration using only power control before I embark on adventures.
