Insta Heat (aka iHeat)

@Diggy Smalls - You can see that I cut the tips off from the shop slippers. I didn't want them to be completely ridiculous. I only wear them in the shop so it doesn't matter too much how they look. Keeping my feet happy is the most important thing.
I have signed a few of my turnings in the past. The wood beauty is what makes them art. It varies a bit from piece to piece which makes them all unique.
The heater cartridge just contains the heater coil and tapered connection for the roasting tubes. The 12v base unit has voltage control only. A mod box can have wattage and/or temperature control. They do operate very similar, but there are some differences. I like using it with the base and also the mod box.

@ZC - Glad to hear it arrived safely and you are enjoying it. I also had to change the way I hold the unit as compared to a traditional log vape unit. The Insta Heat unit sets with the bottom on the knuckle of my right index finger and held like a pipe with the top / roasting tube pointing at my mouth. My index finger runs up the side with the button, my thumb rests on the side of the base unit, and my other fingers close around the power plug/cord. I hold the whole unit upside down when connecting to the tube or removing the tube for stirring. It helps to keep particles from falling onto the debris screen.
Hope you are able to enjoy it on a mod box sometime. It is quite powerful for a portable.
Happy you like the new travel size stir tool. I really like them for keeping the screens clean between uses.
Here is how it looks.

I don't have any milk videos to share, but here is a photo of a unit I sold about a month ago. The bottom and roasting tube is black wood. The heater cartridge is maple burl. So many potential wood combinations. I found a low profile switch that fits the slim diameter better and works well. The next batch should have some really interesting combinations / materials.

:o That's beautiful (oh why didn't I get on the list sooner  ).

The whole thing must be tiny, with the blackwood base taking the place of the box mod...

The iHeat has predictably become my daily driver. It's beautiful, comfortable, fast, powerful, and effective, with no need to hassle with batteries.

The no-glass design means I don't need to worry about breaking it.

It does have a hotspot if I push it too far, but interestingly it's not a traditional spot, it's actually curved in the shape of the heater. So typically after a few hot hits I'll do a little stir. It also doesn't seem to be as hot of a hotspot as other similar heaters.

@ZC @lemmeadem did you try the heater cartridge with a mod?

Differences ?

The one pictured is mine and I have used it both the the "base" and with a box mod. I have had a similar experience with a curved hot spot if you push it too far. The function on the box mod with voltage control is very similar to the iHeat base. It does function a little different if your mod has temperature control and you are in that mode. TC eliminates the manual aspect and you can hold down on the button as long as you want without worrying about scorching the load. Both are good experiences, just different.

Hey everyone !
Anyone got some news from Alan recently ? Probably flooded with work or life issue ?
I can't wait to see the end of my order and get my hands on this I-heat Cartridge.

Also I'm welcoming advice on a reliable mod ... I'm based in EU if that can help too. Thanks !

Still loving my IH. I have the dial at one click past 50%. I use @cannabis.pro's glass-screened 14-18mm stem with my water piece. I have it dialed in perfectly so I get a beautiful hit just holding the button long enough to fill the glass piece. Really couldn't be more thrilled.

I pretty much have stopped using it with box mods. I just don't vape on the go enough to really need to. I'm also a bit concerned with the 510 connector wearing out, as @KeroZen has cautioned. So I try to just keep it on the base unit.

That said, I think it's kind of a shame that the iHeat is split up into two threads. The base unit is almost an accessory to the 510 IH, so we have the users of the iHeat split up into two different discussions about essentially the same vape.

It kind of takes away from the beauty of the IH being truly BOTH a portable and a plug in. Not something many vapes can claim.

I broke the insert glass in my wood/glass stem! Oops, but the beauty of a wooden stem is that it still works perfectly fine without it.

I know it's a little detail, but the button on the IH is absolutely fantastic. Perfect throw, it's satisfying to use. Hard to press accidentally, spring strong enough that even with the IH laying on it's side, on the button, it isn't pressed.

Good to see you again bOObs. Hope all has been well with you. I see that you found my latest vaporizer design. It is quite amazing. Also 12 volt input like the HI, but it requires at least 8 amps. Heat is only produced when you push the button, so the wood stays cool to the touch. It is very efficient.
Have been making wooden roasting tubes with an 18mm taper which fit nicely into any 18mm female fitting. The cartridge will fit onto most battery powered mod boxes, so it is a portable too.
Looking forward to seeing you around again.

I have had my iHeat for about a month maybe a little longer now. I love this beast! flavor is nice, i can chase clouds if i want, can even muster a little dab when i feel like it. Dont use temp mode, i am a straight wattage guy. The mod i use does not even support temp mode its wattage only. my range is from 27 to 35 depending on the flower. Glad i got mine may need to pick up a spare, my GF has been looking at it like its hers!!!
