Discontinued Chewy 2.0 Portable Electric Grinder

I recieved my Chewy and the Chube a few days ago. It does take me about two minutes to grind up a gram. It chews right through my stickiest strain Gorilla Glue. It comes out light and fluffy, the way I like it. The perfect consistency for the vaporizers that I use most of the time, which are log vapes. It's not loud, it gives off a low hum while grinding. It doesn't look like a grinder either. Maybe looks like a little mini recorder.

I haven't torn it a part to clean yet. I have arthritis in my wrists so this grinder makes it easy to get the material ground. I did struggle at first to push in all the wires that are attached to the 9 volt battery. so I could shut it. @Splat told me I didn't need to treat it with kid gloves. I was able to get the door shut eventually.

Wishing you good luck with a well made tool for those that need some extra help with grinding or just like an electric grinder.

I think it's easy to dump your ground up cannabis by taking the lid off and just turning it on. It flies right out of the grinder through the hole at the top. No need to get a toothpick to dig out your herb.

The Chube is a nice traveling container for your flowers. If you need a grinder, it will do that too.

So I've been rather quiet but have been using the Chewy 2.0 daily for about month. I dealt with the chube but honestly felt it didn't lock in scent well enough for me to want to keep trying it. It did however work in an okay fashion and if I had nothing else and my chewy was dead it'd be a fine backup.

This isn't a review but I would like to at least add my opinion in here as well as a video might be a week or so away.

First off this is my daily driver for grinders and I have stopped thinking about my SCS entirely. Secondly, the grind consistency has always been on point and worked well for all my vaporizers.

I really like this grinder I've only used very dry herb with it but results have been great only gripe has been particulate build up and the push blocks inconsistencies. I was pretty surprised to see how well it performed without cleaning but its definitely going to need cleaning I was lucky with the SCS to be able to only have to clean every couple to few months.

Gorilla glue in it now, so kind of a good test of its chewing ability, plus how sticky it gets. Does the blade assembly come out for cleaning, @Splat ?

@OyVape yes all the parts should pop out. They are only held in with magnets.

To remove the blade. Remove the plastic ring on top of the blade you will see a small hole on top of one of the blade teeth. Take the poker or anything else that fits in the hole and pull the blade out. I might need a bit of wiggleing to release the blade. You can also us a small pair of pliars to grip the blade and pull out. Dont use your fingers to pull out. The blade is sharp

next you need to remove the metal sleeve. you do this by pulling up on the push block. The push block is the black plastic moving part that push the herb into the blade. That will release the sleeve. thats it all parts out. Be sure to clean under the push block.

So, as so often happens, I joined the party late. Usually not a big deal, and to be expected really, but in this case I coulda been using this earlier if I'd only known then what I do now.......

As others have said, it's a solid, well thought out unit. More attention to detail than you usually find for sure. Hopefully I'll have something more useful to contribute after some more use, but for now others have put the case out well and honestly. It's a neat, useful thing......although it too is a compromise so not 'all things to all people'.

I'm still learning about grind control. Cure is certainly a factor. I tried an eighth 'straight from the Dispensary' and the results were sub standard IMO. But, when I removed it, cleaned the Chewy out (used ISO, like Vitolo I'm still not big on vaping random 'safe' food products like Coconut Oil) and cured the bud all was forgiven. I'm also of the opinion that spring pressure has a lot to do with it. That is I get finer, more uniform grinds when the Chewy is only partially filled. This means more reloads, of course, but one must make sacrifices for one's art?

This makes sense to me, given the spring driving the push block? The spring is pretty highly 'exercised' in use. That is it gets heavily compressed in use, not to the point of being coil bound, which means it's pushing much harder on a full charge than one almost used up. This is normal for coil springs, they have a 'formula' that specifies 'pounds of force against compression'. That is, if two pounds compress the spring say half an inch, it takes four for an inch. Looked at the other way, the more it's compressed the harder it forces the herb into the cutters?

There are 'constant force springs' (strips of steel that 'coil up' when working) but that makes the design more complex. For now I'm getting grinds more to my liking by only filling the Chewy magazine 'part way'.

I usually grind a gram or so of several strains at a time and use it from tube tubes or vials. Chewy is too slow for this IMO, I'll stay with my Medi-taner or Mendo Mulcher for that. At least for now. I too am a fan of chopping/shredding over grinding. Random size and shape bits allow moderate packing (necessary for good results in conduction vapes.....which most are?) and still also passages for vapor to escape into our waiting mouths?

However, for vapes like MFLB and VM which have small size loads (grinds fast) that are awkward to get all the goods into the bowl this guy is aces. IMO, just the ticket for those owners......now to figure out how to tell them......

Anyway, great product. But you don't have to take my word for it, there's lots of trustworthy folks already telling you so. My advice is to go for it if it interests you, I really don't see how you can go far wrong that way.

@Splat, more people need to know about this! I suggest you check out and mention the Chewy 2 in threads for certain vapes that, shall we say, are not that easy to load. Like for instance, vapes with tiny capsules—the Firewood, the Ghost MV1, and others.

Go tell’em about it! It’s that gift-giving time again. Perfect For the vaper who has everything....

Smell proof bag is recommended ,I don’t think it is 100% sealed when closed but sealed enough. There are very small openings but it definetly cuts back on the smell when closed. The bag is a good addition if traveling or just storing it. It is charcoal lined.

I don’t smell anything at all from it when it’s loaded.

I wasn’t aware the included bag was charcoal lined. That’s pretty cool.

I wasn't aware of it coming with a bag. I think it reeks nothing is sealed and ground particulates could be anywhere.

Opinions? I'm sure you guys know I'm not too often to talk in a video.

@paytonpenn that was awesome! Right on the money IMO. I get frustrated when I see "reviews" that are not more than advertising and promotions for the product, without showing much of the negative side. I think you did that perfectly in your review! Great product, but has some limitations, and is not for everyone. You're right about having to have some patience, and I didn't know about pushing the bud down near the end to get better performance! Thanks for that pro tip.

I don't think that the chewy 2 works great with any sized buds though. I use very small quantities since I switch my strains often and thus will use .2g buds or so, and I actually prefer not to grind those small ones in the chewy 2. I also feel that there is significant trichome loss quite rapidly IMO.

Could`nt resist once more and ordered a Chewy. I`ve never been a grinder guy until my girl got me a 3 peace Santa Cruz shredder from the US. Had never spent so much bucks for such a device, but was loving it from the beginning. Until LE broke this love. Can imagin the Chewy will be a worthy successor

I received my Chewy2 yesterday. It looks and feels like a solid build. The noise is a bit loud, so I'll have to be careful when/where I use it.

Having said that, I was concerned about using it to fill Firewood 3 and Firewood 4 capsules. It turns out that the mouth of the Chewy2 is a great fit for the opening of the capsules. Just join the two openings and start grinding. Works quite well and no mess.

Oh, I was about to buy one but green is out of stock. I don't like much the special edition and the metal version is a bit expensive for me...
