My 'Mighty' reclaim concentrate journey - advice & input welcome :)

So I thought I'd share my recent escapades on my journey to create something from my vaping 'Waste'.

I consume 1.5oz/month on average, all of which goes through my Mighty. I save all my AVB (tried making has brownies - tasted disgusting (didn't water filter), worked ok, and then went mouldy - epic fail! Luckily didn't waste too much.

I also then clean my cooling unit every 2 weeks with 99% Isopropyl. I have 3 cooling units, and cycle through them, cleaning 2 at a time. Cleaning consists of separating all parts (not easy as very gummed together when cold!) and submerging in a mason jar with around 500-600ml of the Isopropyl.

Soaking takes 20-30mins, with swirling & shaking in between. I generally scrape any stubbornness from the parts mid-way through this period. All parts are then transferred to a second mason jar, with the same volume of Isopropyl, as a secondary wash.

All items are then washed in water, dried & re-assembled for re-use.

So I then judged that I had completely saturated my first cleaning jar, as my second jar was starting to turn a faint orange from the cannabinoids. I used a 3rd mason jar & coffee filter to then remove any particulates from the Isopropyl cleaning liquid in the saturated jar. FYI - I now use a finer upper mesh in the Mighty cooling unit, so particulate penetration is minimal. about a 3rd of the cleaning contained quite a lot of gunk from the default, wider mesh (stupid idea) I used initially.

So I then purchased a pyrex dish, with a sealable (silicon gasket) lid with air release valve - Similar to this, but local cheaper knock-off :D Link Here.

Now, Please....

This was my first attempt, was spur-of-the-moment, and was very.... resourceful lets say! so excuse the apparent, definite & categoric bodging

I set up a double boil in a pan (probably, technically a wok..) & Knowing the dangers of boiling Isopropyl in a kitchen environment, I set up a vapour collection & burn-off system. See it below at full chooch:

giphy.gif

The stone mortar was heat protection, and the bottle pourer a heat buffer from the silicon tubing. Thus - no risks of flammable gas build-up. Extractor fan was on as well, I guess obviously, and back door open.

Once the chooch had reduced to a dribble, it would no longer ignite the tube, and an empty, fake 'bic' pen (tried a real bic - fucknig impossible to separate easily...) and burned off even more of the isopropyl:

giphy.gif

Strategic yankee candle was to stop the dish moving. I could also see liquid isopropyl condensing at the bottom of the tube (pen) even without the flame - and at this stage i wasn't worried about the levels of isopropyl gas - very low amounts, and intermittent. This bubbling, condensing isopropyl was also a good indicator when it was running out. Bubbles from the concentrate also then ceased.

The next stage was vacuum purging. Suffice to say this was a 2-hand job and I forgot to photograph the setup anyhow. Basically, I attached, via a reduction tube (thick plastic bottle & duct tape ) a household vacuum cleaner, to the tube (pen) seen above.

This applied a fairly decent level of vacuum to the situation - the vacuum cleaner was screaming and pulled its hose completely tight, I had to have it on the kitchen counter right next to the hob. The vac also blew its safety valve after 10-15 seconds, so I had to cut a small hole in the reduction tube (stabbed small hole in bottle with knife), as a pressure release valve to the vacuum cleaner. Still plenty of vacuum on the pyrex dish (lid was caving in nicely). Did this for a good 5 minutes.

The result?

A really decent amount (I think?) of what looks to be pretty pure (apart from the match tip :disgust:) concentrate.

I let it air cool, covered in cheese-cloth, for around an hour, until it was luke warm.

As the liquid concentrate was still pretty warm when the the below video was taken (shite upload, all stretched & rubbish) it was still a little runny:

Background sound is TV on news from UN General Assembly - Trump - what a wanker :D

It is now almost solid (holds the imprint of my fingerprint in its surface)

Sooo....

Thoughts? How does this compare to other peoples attempts from a similar source (vape reclaim)? Should I purge further to remove Isopropyl or have I done enough?

Also, as a purely Mighty owner - how would one best consume said concentrate now? I was thinking this, or less foul (not AVB) tasting edibles.

All advice & input is much appreciated :)

You plan on cooking with this or dabbing with it? I've got so much abv from my vapes over the years I've tried some recipes here but I can never stomache the foul taste

Edibles! Get as much ISO out as you can, then mix with butter, Ghee, or coconut oil. If you bake with it try to keep the temps under 300F. Depending on your material, figure about a gram for 12 servings. But go easy until you know.

If you want to vape reclaim, you can mop it up with a mop made from hemp fiber, then vape the hemp fiber.

Not sure - i love the idea of dabbing - never tried it before - but is it worth it with reclaim? Not sure on THC/CBD ratios that are left - could it just make me fall asleep?

Agreed on eating the AVB - i've tried brownies, butter, coconut oil - it all tastes like sweaty poo :D

Cooking with oil sounds a great idea too - seen lots of good ideas on this site :) What is reclaim concentrate like in comparison to full-flower concentrate? Much more of a body-high I would assume?

Any ideas on how to judge when ISO is fully purged? It was no longer bubbling in the water bath, and the vac purge (whilst still in water bath) caused no further bubbling.

My vac-purge was with a domestic vac. cleaner though ---- I read that brake-bleeders are commonly used - would this provide a lower pressure & thus purer concentrate than a vac. cleaner?

i have never cooked with oil but I have dabbed reclaim and although the taste was foul it puts me rite to sleep like a coma like sleep I can imagine edibles of reclaim will do the same or similar I literally couldn't keep my eyes open

Yes, reclaim oil is good for pain/ sleep. You might want to check out skunk pharm for accurate info on most concentrates.https://skunkpharmresearch.com/

If you do this often I suggest investing in a real VAC and pull it to -29.5 at 105f and see it still muffin out a couple flips.

If you vac purge your ISO ABV and/or reclaim ISO wash for a couple days it'll become really glassy and amber colored. If you hit it on a quartz banger with some other full melt at the same time it's pretty spectacular end product for what you start with.

Damn bro, I got a mighty too. Reclaim and abv gonna taste like ass but it'll work. I just made some brownies with distillate....wow, tastes like normal brownies but best effect

I would use the ISO reclaim for edibles only, not really worth the trouble vaporizing IMO. If you want to vaporize it, I would suggest to avoid solvents, and use a heat source like a hair dryer to your parts while they sit on parchment to melt the oil off, it will probably have a lot of contaminants in it that pass through the screen into the cooling unit.

I've just been vaping rosin in my mighty for a while now. I've removed the cooling unit screen. I clean the cooling unit when the mouth piece turns slow and is stiff with resin. The reclaim looks excellent. I just scraped what i could out. I get maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 gram each cleaning. A nice golden color, with no herb flecks at all. So good I had to dab, lol. OK, but not great. As good as it looked, it's much better to eat me thinks.

What doesn't get scraped off gets the iso treatment as normal.

My experience is good with abv and reclaim from the mouthpiece of the mighty.
The oil from the mouthpiece looks very clear and amber colored.
Vapeing it usualy makes me fall a sleep half hour later.

I was looking for a way to make single dose edibles with abv and material in general and found a solution.

So i would take 5g of abv and get all the oil out of it with iso.
Then filter throuh a coffee filter. I filter in to a metel bowl that sits well on a pan.
when i only have the oil left nice and sticky in the metel pan, i will add 20g of butter and let it melt and absorbe.
Next i will boil a cup of coffee and dump it in a mixer. poor the melted butter that has absorbed everything in with the coffee.
Mix
Drink ;P

In the end I started letting my cooling unit gunk up than making some super strong hot chocalate with it
I don't really use my portable vapes anymore but making chocalate milk with the gunked up cooling unit was awesome
Always a very potent long lasting high and the taste wasn't the worst
I'd stir with a candy cane lol I liked the minty chocalate with the reclaim taste

Was as simple as getting the milk to a slow boil in saucepan than dip the cu in without orings than clean it separate and make your chocalate milk with the green milk lol

IMO, make edibles out of it. I have a very healthy aversion to vaping ISO residue and I bet there is some in there.

Very inventive and imaginative set up you cobbled together there.

I was curious too but the taste is awful.
It depends the vaporizer and how much the reclaim is polluted by small particles of bud. With some vaporizers (I don't own/ed a Mighty), if you can scrape it without to use iso, the reclaim is pretty clean and can taste like haschich (i.e Inhalater reclaim with the glass capsule, Herbalaire whip's reclaim,...). I even used this sort of reclaim to refill a little bit my Trinity tank 2 days ago and it taste pretty decent (inhalater's reclaim). But when I use iso to reclaim the goodies the taste sucks and the final product is a lot darker in color. I eat this reclaim like that with a glass of milk and get some sweet reliefs (0.2-0.5g).
Put a big drop on some weed and go with a supercharged hit in your vape of choice.
Yes, I do that too (with both quality reclaim I get), taste will be impacted very much but you'll get a superlong session!

I speak mainly about my Omnivap's reclaim that I collect from the mouthpiece end of my condenser scraping it with a dental tool . It's almost free of weed particles but I just don't like its flavor if I vape it alone, especially at higher temperatures. However I agree that solvent extracted reclaim tastes way worse, I tried with ethanol and it was truly offensive.
