I am thinking that once you get you bowl set on the adjustabowl that you could fill in that gap right beneath the bowl and above the first ring, simply fill it in with hemp and press into the gap and this issue could be a good hack to temporarily solve this if it the air leak bothers you?

I think you are right that thermal expansion could be an issue with tappers.

Maybe a series of steps tapering down rather than a taper would work better. Then again, it doesnt have to be a steep taper... it'd just expand up more, or vertically rather.

I think I have solved the air-leak issue with the adjustabowl. At least for me I am done with it unless @NewVape710 makes another revision?

First I adjusted the bowl on the piece and then I installed three o-rings that pretty much plugs up the air holes. It works.

Are you back to having sticking occur with the o-rings?

I've dropped mine a few times on the carpet. I want the cord handle so the cable doesn't slip out of my hand.

Yup, I keep meaning to get @phattpiggie to go for it on a coil/lead handle.

I was just thinking of some sort of wood sleeve around the showerhead, maybe have two or three panels. It'd have to be distant away from the cover by rods.. and maybe secured by screws.

Might get in the way when dabbing or capping, but this could open up the possibility of running this unit like a log vape/inverted if the bowl can work in both orientations... maybe a stand for safety?

I prefer filtration though... just would be a very versatile vaporizer...

Once again, great minds think alike. Don't know if they do it anymore, but plumbers on big pipes used to use some sort of fiber caulking when they were pouring lead solder. They would pound it in and it kept the lead in place until it cooled.

All things to try after Thanksgiving. For some strange reason, I agreed with my non-cooking girlfriend to have 12 people at her house for Thanksgiving....guess who's making the turkey and stuffing! LOL

Take care and if you get to any of this before me, I'm very interested in your results and I really would like a bit of a better air seal on the Pan Head.

I will try pressing down with the heater next time as you advised.

Hmmm.....lol I may not have got an answer to this on the forums, before this, but I guess I did now

EDIT: yes...lol I was a bit annoyed

I have not used the scotch tape method he showed...didn't seem necessary as I have no expansion or sticking with the stems. I drop the stem into the joint, it stops at some point in the joints taper and there is some degree of a seal. Then, as he showed, you lay the bowl on top and just tighten.

All - Don't get me wrong...I tried to be clear and may not have, its not a matter of going from thick clouds to wispy shite, its just a bit thinner and I would like to rectify this. Again, I suspect the deeper bowl has also changed the signature of the vape slightly (but I may well be wrong).

Cheers

If depth was the issue a simple bump in temp would fix it. But theres more to it than that.

Similar to three wraps to a four wrapped coil. The showerhead reaches down further to the herb which changes the target temp.

Changes the whole equalized point of heat.

Thank you all for your answers, just to make it clear, i thought about which glas would be a good companion for the FP to have it on the table and look good for the wife and non partaking friends and family - Joints are well known and accepted so everybody likes the Vapcap or the Vapman, Bongs are only known for combusting mixed with tobacco so something like the FC186 will give me the looks.

On the one hand side i think it is funny that i even think about which pieces would look pleasent, on the other hand side i want my hobby (and couchtable) to be attractive for everybody in my home :peace:

BTW there is an interesting piece in the post your new pieces thread...

EDIT: I guess i will give in now and order. I will send a request to @VapeFiend.com for a complete set and ask him if there will be a black friday sale or a discount for FC members. If any of you have an idea how to save a few bucks or what i should ad to my order - feel free to tell.

Have a great day, weekend is near :peace:

Not good to hear about air leaks at the adjustable bowl. Fixes are nice but an increased construction would be better! @NewVape710, Edwyn, do you stop delivery of the new bowl again if this problem appears more often?

One plea, Edwyn, what's about a post with a 18 male/female joint to have a stand for the bowl too? Would like one very much. Also it could be used for other devices like the Herborizer Ti or the Glass Symphony. Would be worth a 2nd stand-

I think I'll stick with the sticking bowl and order 1 or 2 more of them. I don't think the new bowl offers me anything I really want or need...

...I'll save the cash for the glass bowl :2c: :D Any updates on that @NewVape710

Just to play devils advocate here; if those folks are cool with the vapcap which looks like a high end crack stem I'd think clean glass rigs wouldn't be that much worse. Maybe if you explain things to them and show them the light. I think the FP looks classier than sitting around torching metal stems, but that's just me

EDIT: Not knocking the vapcap (I plan on getting one). But it's a stem...no way around that.

I personally use these parts multiple times each day and haven't found any issues with leakage around the milled slot. Please use the parts for a few days and allow the natural residue to fill in any gaps. Should you prefer to speed the process up just add a little reclaim to the area in question. As I mentioned before anyone not happy with the parts that they receive are more than welcome to return them for a full refund prior to use (excluding shipping). Our return policy can also be found here.

100 o-rings to seal air-leaks for the adjustabowl -- $2.99

Silicone O-Rings 015, QTY 100, 9/16" ID X 11/16" OD, 1/16 CS, 70 Durometer, FDA/Food

I haven't tested this size yet while using the Flower Pot but it fits easily.

...and we hear a guy name @Stu is the mind behind it!

mine should be here tomorrow!

Let me know how they handle the heat.

I like this site, I buy o-rings from them for use in semi-auto shotgun gas systems. Good info on material and especially high temp rating.

Boom! This worked perfectly. I had one of these laying around, as I use them in the SOLO, and when I saw your post I immediately dug it up and installed it. As I said, I works perfectly!

Total seal accomplished. Thanks You!

Also allowing "natural residue to fill in any gaps" isn't a positive. I keep my gear clean and will not be getting a bowl I have to let get dirty just to function properly.

That glass bowl is gaining my interest more as this thread progresses.

Yeah, I'm not a clean freak because I cant be, but I can see legitimate push back from users over such a solution.

Yikes! How frustrating but...If air is going to take the path of least resistance, why would it be going down the adjustment channel? For that to be the path of least resistance, that would indicate that the bowl screen is clogged, or too much herb(dare I say) was loaded into the bowl? I've got zero issues on my PanHead setup. I dump a fat scoop in there, RIP & RAGE it until its spent. The result is thus:

Slim-pickens_riding-the-bomb_enh-lores.jpg

I've checked my setup and there's just no leaking going on thankfully - thick juicy vapors! Even when I ran out of ISO last week and my double weave screen turned into a gooey puck, the air wasn't going down the adjustment channel at all, it became super hard to pull, evidence of a good seal? I'm not saying this isn't happening to you two (obviously), but could it have been a one-off or due to glass anomalies?

Any one got any pics of this “glass bowl”?

Been eyeing the sic or quartz heads to add to the collection. But want to order a bunch of stuff at one time.

I have been watching from the beginning and as soon as i saw the showerhead it had my interest and I just recently got access to concentrates. Even extraction is a requirement for me. I would prefer no stirring because of bowl depth.

Was hoping to pick one up possibly if there was a black Friday sale. But I have been wanting a glass bowl, hopefully a little round in the bottom. I'll wait for that instead of going for the updated ti bowl. I want a lower thermal efficiency bowl to crank up the showerhead. Not sure if I should get newvapes controller or a universal one.
