Poor manufacturing quality @DDave ?

Or maybe you just ordered the 26mm joint you thought could be used with any 18mm fitting when RBT has said all along his vapes use a 22mm US joint. Whether you intended this to go public or not, calling out the manufacturer on quality control because your stuff won't fit (and you mistakenly advertising it as if it would) is just wrong.

Just facts, no judgments or stone throwing...
  • My pieces work on some units. Does this mean some units use different size glass? My glass size does not change, unless I intend it to and in regards to stems or coolers, no joint size change has taken place.
  • I do not have challenges supporting other vaporizers.
  • I have correspondence from other glass manufacturers who have same issues as I do with this unit. Although, I would never share another's communications without asking them first.

So, to recap. A buyer approached asking why I no longer support the unit. My reply was simply the facts. Now, where was the wrong in that?

And while I no longer offer kits for the unit, I do own one. Originally, I approached RBT for a demo unit so I could build a mod around it. They declined. (Post still available on FC). So, another esteemed FC member sent me a unit to use. And my glass, all my glass, fits the unit I was sent perfectly. Not just some of my pieces. Do I have a special beta unit?

Show me 22mm joint that doesn't fit and then we'll talk. Oh that's right, you don't have one because yours are all 26mm. And I'm sure there is no tolerance issues from your glass supplier right?

Why you'd have a 26mm joint that could fit? Well let's see...there are two reasons I could come up with. One I mentioned above is tolerance in your supplier. Two could be that the heater was pushed down in the unit you used. It is possible especially if someone is trying to fit a joint that is too long in the Milaana. This is exactly the reason RBT doesn't even recommend a tophat on his 22mm stems. But it is possible to push the heater down and it is possible the unit will still work if you do. But it's not recommended and could void the warranty.

So with that your "facts" are really opinions and so you'd be better off just stating you don't supply products for that then go where you went. I mean both of your glass comes from China and we all know the quality issues that can arise there. But yeah it has to be RBT's glass right? Couldn't be yours....

Edit: and I just got a PM from someone who paid over $50 for your cooler that "didn't work based on RBT quality issues". In fact he sold his unit over it and only later repurchased another after he spoke to someone who actually knew what they were talking about (@cannabis.pro). Now @cannabis.pro can't say too much cuz he's a retailer trying to stay PC and the other guy is a new guy who doesn't want to make waves but I feel people need to hear the truth about this bullshit so I'm coming out!

This guy who PM'd me spent $50+ on your product that was supposed to work with his Milaana and you made him feel like it was the issue with the vape. Instead he got in touch with the right people and is happy with his working Mi (2nd one mind you) since he has the right equipment now.

So instead of just stop selling this for the Mi you choose to keep selling this as a fit and even worse you tried to tell people it was an issue with RBT.

And you brought up that Ryan would not send you a sample? Let's reflect on why? What was the breakdown? Oh yeah, communication STOPPED when you realized Ryan would not buy 50 coolers he was planning on selling directly. Why? BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T FIT!!!! 26MM AND RYAN POINTED THAT OUT TO YOU! And for months you kept selling them as if they did and blamed RBT quality issues if anyone complained.

So go on. Keep spreading your bullshit and frame it up anyway you want. People think you are this great guy because you ship quickly but the fact is you got caught on this one. Ryan is an easy target. He has made more than his fair share of mistakes but your response here is bullshit and people deserve to know the truth.

In my humble opinion, charring most often results NOT from the battery (switch), but from pulling too much with the switch pressed. I can be very frustrating. However, you could press and hold all day, and the UNIT would probably burn before what's in the stem. If you're charring, and sometimes I still char, the first thing to consider is to pull softly.

Also, keep clean airway. Make sure battery is charged. Adjust screen. Adjust tamp.

@Other Side there is no need to be so confrontational here. Maybe it's a mis-understanding, maybe it's something else, but there is no need for the hostility, ok?

To everyone: Let's keep the temperature down in this thread as we are all friends. Any posts that break our Be Nice rule will be met with warning points, so please keep that in mind.

Thank you.

Stems dont fit?

Isnt that a good thing?

When does the stem start to conduct? What would lifting off the heat transfer do?

Even if the tappered seal draws from the stem... it'd just add to a more convective state.

Sorry, just reminds me of some sea shell glass jointed threads that compensate seals.

You need an airtight seal for best results and a good glass on glass connection provides that. Besides that if the joint is too long the mouthpiece could wobble which makes it susceptible to falling out and breaking. And yeah it can push on the heater which could create other problems.

I have a whole bunch of 26mm glass pieces I like to use with my RBT gear. Actually I sent them to Ryan over a month ago to get cut down so I could use them without an o ring to seal them up and keep them off the heater. But to say you can make a true glass on glass connection with the 26mm joint only happens if the heater is pushed down. Normally the RBT gear will only accept 22mm and maybe 24mm since Ryan did put a revision in there to accommodate 2mm for tophats (although still not officially authorized).

That's the beauty of RBT gear. You can use it with all types of connections and accessories but at the same time a couple millimeters can make a big difference. RBT standard is 22MM to use without additional modification. That's ultimately the point here.

Ryan, actually, sent me a couple of HIS new top hat screens with my Milaana a month or so ago. They don't fit ALL his pieces though. No big deal as he also sent me screens that fit the other pieces. Some of his males have slightly different bore diameter.Ryan told me that upfront.. I, actually made my own top hat "style" for DDaves V3 cooling unit. Dave included a bunch of screens with my V3 I just rolled/trimed the edges. With my shim it fits snug, does not bottom on the heater screen and seals/draws great. I'll admit I was a little disappointed at first and did email DDave, to no avail, but I like to tinker and thought a thin shim may work. It did very very well! I love it now! Problem solved! By the way I bought the Tubo V3-which is the same as the Milaana one and got ,like, 15 screens and the cooler for $25. Anyway...

The 2nd m was a gift ;) smartass haha.
Noticed the description said 45 watt on mine and the more exotic woods say 40 watts. Are they different?
No difference, just refreshing text as I add new units.

I guess 45 was my mistake or the specification or rating changed on RBTs side cause I wouldn't have pulled it out of nowhere.

I took it right from the RBT Milaana Project. Not sure could just be a typo there? I'll have to check with RBT and webmaster.

Hmm... I remember in the early days someone measured it here and it was like 40-65watts or something, then a finalized wattage rating was posted in the site describe after that first batch

I'm no electronics genius, but since this device is unregulated, and heat is generated by the resistance created pushing current through a 1/2 inch wide SS mesh band with silver plated copper leads at each end, all coming from one 18650 - shouldn't the battery alone determine power? Please educate me...

Thanks in advance.

@Bravesst: nope it's the heater resistance and the battery voltage that set the power. Battery will limit the power only by sagging the voltage down, the more it's pushed hard, but you might still exceed its current rating. Would be too easy otherwise, and it's the reason one must use the right cells (if you exceed their rating they heat and can be damaged)

Received my Milaana on Monday and I'm definitely starting to get the hang of it. It's a gread addition to the family!

I feel like I've got the heating technique down, but I am still having a bit of trouble with the screens. Both of the screens unfortunately got flattened during shipping, and although they get the job done I feel that a fresh screen would sit better in the stem. I find myself readjusting them often as they don't sit entirely flat. I've actually found myself using an enano GonG stem + screen as it fits perfectly with the milaana and my waterpipe.

What type of screen does everyone here like to use? Looking to place an order for some more here soon and not sure what would be the best bet.

Cheers!

We can send you some replacement screens. Sorry yours were squashed during transit. Was there any damage to the package?
