Winegums' Woodcraft

Thanks so much for explanation! Dummy, me...
Sorry if I sounded a bit negative when explaining all that. Sometimes what looks like a simple design feature on the surface is quite hard to produce. I have to consider my time spent, the price, and ease of production when I'm going make something. The lid you're looking for would be something that was better suited to casting or 3D printing.

I just put the first coat of finish on a batch of Cherry ABV bins. I've still 2 more coats to apply with sanding in between coats. After that I'll be onto making some taller pencil holders/tool organizers, then a batch of fancy stems. I learned a lot during the process of doing the box joins for this run.

Good job, @Winegums!

Guess this will get one of your best selling pieces. It's the best designed at least IMHO.
Waiting for other woods and I'm hopefully in. Fucking VAAS (VAccessoryAS)!
Eagerly waiting for your trays/stands/holders. Good you'll adapt that advice.

are these the cases that have the 1 Storage Spot for Vapcap, 1 Storage Spot for lighter, and 1 Storage Spot for herbs?
No, these are the two bay version with one side for the Vapcap and the other for general storage. I made the three bay version as a one off prototype. I can make another upon request but I didn’t make any this time around.

i have been enjoying my XL stash...it's beautiful as fuck and the quilted maple looks better than the pictures

does anyone know of a storage tube that will fit correctly...besides the super small ones?

i should have waited for the three compartments just because i think it woupd have suited my needs a little better...the only complaint that i have is that one corner doesn't sit flush...i wonder if there is a simple glue solution?

love this stash though.

I experimented with glow in the dark powder and resin casting yesterday and today. The small burl body turned out okay but I think I need to work on the colour combinations. Blue and green is really cool but the orange is making my eyes burn. :uhoh:

The biggest problem with this is the strontium aluminate is abrasive. It eats away at the HSS cutters that I have and fear that it would destroy carbide equally as fast. I had to reshape and sharpen my tool 4 times during the making of these two pieces. Normally I can turn a dozen before I even have to worry about sharpening.

That dyed one looks stunning.
I love the way colour brings a different look to an already nice piece of wood.

Maple is lovely to dye as long as you sand to around 600 grit. Otherwise the really pretty piece of wood you have turns into a splotchy mess. You should try it on your pieces. I use aniline dyes.

Amazing !
The hue is amazing !
The result is amazing !
It's both classy ( due to obvious wood grain ) and at the same time quite novel .
And the shape of the stem is radical.
The ring ( aluminium ? SS ?) is my only objection.
Reddish copper would match (or rather contrast is the correct word to be used ) much better .
Not that aluminium /SS (?) is not fine .Quite contrasty in a rather "cool " way .
Copper would have given a more aggresive contrast ,I think.
Anyway. That's personal taste and it does not diminish a bit the awesomeness of that stem.

Fine job !
My humble opinion is that you both should offer more of these dyed stems.
Beautiful and ..So out of the ordinary !

Cheers.

The customer wanted a bright silvery ring on the piece so I used SS. I'm a fan of red metals but I think the dyed pieces look better when they're solid wood. The metal accents are a bit of a distraction for me.

I think I will offer some more of these dyed pieces in the future. The vivid colour does the grain justice.

@ArthurJ I like the patina you've got going on with the first stem. It also looks like the Cherry has gotten darker since I last saw it.
