I made the mistake of getting some of them on Amazon - never again. Last batch are from IMR, probably the big difference. Yes, batteries are the engine behind the whole process, especially in this unregulated form.

These IMR batteries seem to allow the vaporizer to perform the way it was designed to, instead of pulling and pulling and feeling dissatisfied. Gentle, free flowing draws, are producing thick, dense vapor, with hardly any effort. Not even stirring much, ABV falling out with screen staying pretty clean.

1) better yes, for safety reasons

2) on first hit from cold it helps, afterwards it's up to you (I count to 2 personally)

3) hold the button while drawing until you feel the heat then release and keep drawing (you can continue for a long while, almost as much as you held the trigger)

4) draw slowly then increase speed once you release, create a constant vacuum, have the screen fully covered with no holes

Hey! New here as well. Looking forward to receiving my unit from @cannabis.pro this week or next. This will be my 2nd dance with the Milaana. I have to say that the Mi is the only vape I've ever used that caused my VAS to flare up twice for the same device. I guess each one is truly unique though.

@KeroZen you mentioned above, "create a constant vacuum, have the screen fully covered with no holes."

Are you talking about the air intake screen on top of the device by the stem?

Thanks All! Looking forward to being more active here. (And sorry, trying to figure out the FC interface to quote prior posts...)

So i've been using the MIlaana for like a week now and i've noticed something. One of the screens that i got is not fine enough and causes massive amounts of plant matter to just fly up the stem. I'm looking at the water in my bong and it absolutely full of tiny specks of plant. I barely use it not through water because of this. I feel like i'm coughing because a im inhaling a ton of plant specks. Also I've combusted 4 times because I'm trying to get the milkiest hits when I'm letting friends use it. Mine also doesnt have the turbo thing so if I'm trying to take a big hit the middle is going to be charged while the rest green since i cant stir in the middle of a big hit. What battery should i get and whats the proper way to milk a bong without combusting.

Let go of the trigger earlier than you have been is best way to fix char or worse, through water is tricky bc you can't sense it as quickly. Alan and Ratchett both sell screens with finer mesh as well, ddave too. Though the planet matter can irititate my throat too I still tend to prefer them to anything else. Draw and trigger are biggest variables to control vapor quality, ie thickness and smoothness of clouds without any scorch.

You can definitely take the grind too far. I love to dry out, before I hand grind, really easy to over grind dry product. Sometimes you just get carried away. Chances of charring increase, especially if you tamp too hard.

Damn, RBT set a high standard. The CHALLENGE isn't so much to make a really unique, cool looking work of art, even though that is my GOAL. The real challenge is to make it function as well as the stock Milaana. Tall order, but I think I'm getting a handle on variables.

I'm bummed, real life took me outta my shop all day today and I gotta work the next couple of days, won't be much building until Thursday, and then bury me in sawdust! All the ideas that have been brewing should come to a very functional fruition.

Hey man,
I think @Shit Snacks helped you already. Just an addition:
Try to get some hemp fiber and make it a flat disc and place it in your stem. It will filter the small particles. Also nice for reclaiming :D

Have fun!

That reminds me of way back, when RBT held up the Zion build and went back to the drawing board to try and work out why the 'production' Zion was not giving as good vapor as the 'four by two' prototype.

I guess it's all those variables that make the difference between mediocre and great, and what gives Vapes which seem so similar totally different signatures.

Hey. Was wondering if anyone had a solution, or after market product, for a perfectly sized protective tube for the Mi long stem (stock.) Doesn't have to be bullet proof. Just something for light transport or if it were packed loosely in a case.

I use similar ones to these:

You can use Arizer Air/solo caps to put on your ground joint after having preloaded the stem so the load is held securely. Also helps with rattling.
I put some rubber in the bottom of the tube to have the stem seated nicely and snugly.
You can also perfectly use it to ISO wash your stems.

Maybe you find them cheaper somewhere else.

Good look! :)

When it comes to the Milaana, there are many ways to get it right. I probably change things up on a daily basis without even realizing. Working the button is something you don't really get to do in the rest of the vape world (I'm sure there are some). While that's the best thing ever, it can also be a bit frustrating at the beginning.

Make sure your screens / stems stay pretty clean. They don't have to be spotless, but really clogged will kill your feedback until combustion. Feedback is everything. I give the water guys credit, gotta be way tougher. One simple way to keep the screen cleaner is to be aware of distance from the tip. Too far away = gummy (especially in some strains). Large loads can also mean the same thing. I like when my ABV pretty much crumbles out of the stem. I'm not able to get that on every single stem, but most.

Think of the button as the gas pedal, and your breath as the transmission. You're working both in constant flux, takes awhile to max out your abilities. Stay with it. Unregulated is a different animal, but worth it.

The other major variable is what you're after. Are you a ripper or sipper? Two very different approaches. I tend to sip (I get greedy sometimes, but my lungs pay for it), trying to keep temps down, taking lots of small hits. Cloudage is just there, but I don't try for it. Lately, I've been trying to really stay off the button and stick low temp.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, but like most ppl here, I love the Milaana, and want to share my experience. You'll get great advice here. I could write for hours about technique, from herb prep to ABV, but there is just too much information for this forum. If you have any questions, please ask.

Enjoy this excellent vaporizer, thanks for joining.

What is the turbulator actually? I dont think mine has it. I want someone to just take it apart and add it. I read like a hundred pages back when it just came out something 420 edc said that they cant do that for some reason.but I know some people have like 6 Milaanas and/or make them so someone must have seen what the turbulator actually looks like and how easy is it to make the change.

Dont quote me but I'm pretty sure it is a piece or two of mica just above the heater before the bottom screen in the female GonG designed to make the air swirl around before hitting the load. Don't think it is something that can be added without a complete rebuild, and the wood body would probably need changing inside to alow for more space which may not be possible without a new wood blank. So now you just bought a new one.
Having said that being one of the very first units I know for a fact my Mi does not have one and I don't feel needs one. Practice makes perfect, for all those getting hot spots I think draw speed is to blame here. I had the same problem at the start but once I slowed my draw right down I found I needed less button time to get the load to the correct temp then speed up draw and let off the gas to clear the chamber. Remember once at temp you will still be producing vapour for several seconds after releasing the button.
I used to say imagine you are sucking a thick shake really really slowly up the straw (this allows the heat to sit in the load a while) then when the shake (heat) reaches your lips draw faster and release the trigger but remember to keep pulling, I reckon I counted to 5 with button off while still getting vapour once.
I like the gas pedal/transmission analogies put your foot down to get to desired speed then back off gas and let inertia keep you traveling only needing a little gas to maintain speed if you slow down too much.
The magic is learning how long into your increased draw speed to let off the gas, too early and you will have to get back on... To late and well you break the speed limit, but get it right and that fuel economy is amazing!
Its all part of the fun dialing it in just how you like it, and like @Bravesst said experiment experiment experiment. Change one part of the routine every stem and soon you will find what works best for you. I still like to change things up occasionally, especially as I find I have to go about it slightly differently for different strains.

Right I will stop talking now sorry if none of the above makes sense just remember to :science:

I have a shop of Milaana bodies, never seen a turbulator.

The glass gong is a tube that goes down about an inch and a half below the screen. Inside is the wire mesh heater with uninsulated silver coated copper leads at each end, separated by a mica tile to prevent the wires from touch and shorting out. The two wires travel through the heater compartment floor (tiny holes in floor) to electric compartment below, which houses switch, and give access to battery. Ingenious set up, so simple, barely anything to ever go wrong. It's why a warranty is really not a big deal, they just work unless you break the glass.

I'd imagine a "turbulator" would be something to disperse the air before it passes through the screen. I think it might separate the herb from the heat a bit, maybe not a bad thing, but usually I push my load as close to the screen as possible.

Slow draw, let the heat soak the herb, feather the switch if too hot. Practice will make you the turbulator!

i think its been asked a few times.. explanation of the turbulator

i think its one of those, "if i told you, i'd have to kill you" things..

i think its proprietary design info that they wont discuss

edit:
i stand corrected :)
