I appreciate your concern Ed. It's the removable tip that got wrecked, not the stem itself. Yes, I have an extra tip, so I'm all set. Thanks a lot though, for offering! :) It's my own darn fault for not keeping up with it. Live and learn. ;)

Mom should have some Amboyna Tubes soon, I remember you saying Christmas gifts were coming soon, I also will have some super curly Crape Myrtle from Asia, some endangered Flamewood Tubes, as well as the hardest wood I have ever worked Asian Black & White Ebony Tubes. I dont know how long any of these will last so if you see em available you better get em early!

Besides what I am already offering, am gonna add the Amboyna, Box Elder, and figured Black Walnut. The Walnut is from a cross section of crotch and is highly figured, only have a small piece of that.

I have so much to do here, that am running a little behind on getting them shot and loaded, hope to have em all up by next week for sure.

I've been thinking about getting some of these for a while, but didn't realize they were out of stock! Hopefully I'll be able to get some out of the next batch for some christmas gifts, too bad because I liked the cocobolo colors! :peace:

I got a couple Cocobolo and a couple Purpleheart back in stock also, not sure how long these are gonna be around, some of these woods are gonna be a little pricey but thats only due to their rarity and figure. I still have enough inserts from the Zapman, havn a hard time making them myself, the tips are easy but seating the screen and the clip is taking some practice. Pls have a look and tell me what you think.

Use two 1/4" round tools for inserting the screen and clip. I chopped off a couple pieces off a long 1/4 inch drill bit and they work fine. Tape one end of each for a handle(or slip some tubing over the end). Mount the tip on one of the rods, the crimp will stop it from sliding. Then push the screen in from the other end(start with fingers) and ram the screen home with the other 1/4" rod(from the other end). It will sit squarely against the crimp. Then push in the clip at right angle to the tubing. Once the clip has been compressed by pushing in the tubing just a bit, use the tool to ram it home. It too will squarely fit against the screen just installed. I then put both tools in and press and turn them thoroughly to squeeze the screen from both sides and flatten it.
We punch screens from SS 1 inch rounds. We do five at a time(for a nice clean punch) and get four punches per inch screen. So one set of 5 one inch screens gives me 20 stem tip screens. Same with heatport screens which are 9/32" Stem screens are 1/4". We use a standard Harbor freight sheet metal punch($20). When the second one finally wore out I picked up the deep throat Cadillac version for closer to $40. This baby is even slicker and pops them out fast and clean.
Hope that helps a bit with the tips.
Very beautiful stems you have there. Make some good Christmas treats to go along with all the other stuff you have.
I'll go check out some more of that burl early next week............

just curious, which episode(s) of weeds has your "toke" pipes in it??

It was the previous season, in the dispensary store main counter, they were props on the shelves within it, no fancy layout or anything special, just in there is all, the only wooden pipes and dugouts on the set.

Ed, I was looking over the tubes on your site and was wondering which of the woods polish up the best. I know the cocobolo does, but how about the other new woods? I tend to like the more polished woods the most.

I would say all my new stuff polished really well, the Zebra is not quite as much as the others cause the grain is different, I would say when finished the Amboyna polishes better to me, I am just so partial to that species, its very rich and the grain is so erratic, my favorite.

How bout this wood, it is Mamuku also called Fernwood from New Zealand, I saw it, did some research on it, got with a guy from there and before I knew I had a couple slabs here in MS within a couple weeks, I have never seen anything like this, it is completely natural, unfooled around with, the dark grain is super hard like Ebony, but the white is soft like pine almost, its gonna be tough to turn and work, but should be a lota fun seeing what comes of it.
