Would these screens be suitable for use in the vapcap tip if cut right to fit?

Have you given up on dynavap's Ti and SS screens? I don't see why an SS mesh screen like that wouldn't work, but 3/4" is pretty large and cutting screens can be a pain IMO. You might be able to slightly "dome" a 3/8" screen so it fits the tip without cutting.

I agree cutting screens is a pain.

But as far as the dynavap ccd screens go... some of us lose or break the little ccd screens quicker than other members and they can get costly. I have ordered 7 sets of replacement ccds in the last month and a half just to feel "comfortable" .... 4 sets come tomorrow with my extra Ti tip. I have broke 1 ccd in half and lost another one.

But i also ordered some basket screens to try that are only 50 cents each... Finer mesh might also keep my condenser clean longer. Should get them tomorrow with my 14mm gong vapcap stem. From @Alan

Then i just went on puff it ups site to order some pipe cleaners... For some reason i also ordered another M... I have issues...

First thing i noticed on the vong is that there are no Machined ridges on the airport side:hmm::huh: i hope dynavap offers a solution.

The newest NonaVonG, released Sept 8 2017, has a smooth finish and no ridges. It looks like you may have recieved the newest iteration of the Dynavap VonG.

If your heart is set on the earlier model, you could seek a trade/purchase in the classifieds or even file some ridges in your new VonG. Personally, I prefer the look of the newer sleeker model and the airport can be easily felt with the new profile, without the need for ridges.

This seems like way to many for me.

I only remove the CCD's when I'm home. I place the tip facing down on a kitchen towel and push a large head nail down to pop out the screen. The nail point has been filed flat so as not to damage the CCD's.

shopping

The nail allows me to easily apply pressure and the kitchen towel stops the CCD's from flying out.

I've never lost or broken a CCD.

I use an M8 bolt with a wide head to reload the CCD's.

PRO TIP: When applying pressure to force the CCD out or into the tip always ensure you are pushing directly down with no skew off to the side.

With most vapes i have owned i have ordered life time supplies of screens... It's normally rather cheap and gives me peace of mind. Plus with most vapes i would install a new screen weekly or so.

I dont think i will use up all 7 sets quickly... That's the idea!

The broke and lost screen were before i had it figured out. Now i have a method of easily switching and changing screen location. But i still want a nice reserve of back-up!

My method..
No more problems changing screen location!

Just the bolt and nut for the smallest bowl size, added 2 small washers for the middle location. A thumb tack is the perfect sized object to push the screen down in place.

Easy. 2 seconds now.

Ah I get ya. It's all about finding that method that works for you.

Nothing wrong with having spares. I did the same, only I got 3x Ti and 3x SS. Most of the spares are in the draw. I out on in my GrassHopper to protect the heater from getting messy. Not sure if it's working.

Glad to see that I am not the only one doing this. I go even further and (most of the time) buy all possible replacement parts together with a new vape. Sometimes my spare parts add to a higher sum than the actual vape. I am bit over the top with that and I know it. Still it gives me exactly what you say: Peace of mind. Gosh, I need to seek assistance... I have Pax 2 screens until 2050. ;)

I’ve got enough Dynavap screens but I was thinking of screens for Concentrates that have very tiny holes so it doesn’t mess up the works. I did use the Hemp fiber sandwiched between 2 screens but took those out to exchange the fiber. Actually, I rarely use Concentrates.....

they are rather large, Bro. why not get some that will fit. 10mm
yes, you can cut them to size, but it would be a lotta PITA. :myday:

The holes looked tiny....so it’s why I asked about those certain ones. Right now I’m vaping Good Medicine with no fiber sandwich...2 small hits...and I’m in 7th heaven. Never had such a good mild relaxing hi. :) I got an ounce of that GM for free over a year ago on Memorial Day at my membership Disp. and it’s still as fresh as can be. I sort of just ‘put it away’ while I tried other strains. And it turns out to be the best of all! Whodathunkit! :D

I wonder if it's just been curing for a year and that's why it's so good? Did you have it in a sealed jar?

The longest I cured for was about 6-7 months. It definitely improves how smooth the bud vapes. Mellows out the buzz too, which is what I like.

Hi @fcmember , you totally can do this but with the original SS/Ti CCD. I use normal scissor to cut the large pipe screen to small size like the CCD, here is some photo:

I use magic tape to hold the position of the CCD and pipe screen, and use scissor to cut
VnTgt5o.jpg

I use triple screens(from top to bottle: SS CCD+normal Pipe Screen+super fine screen from Vaponic) for my SS tip+VonG for water at home, this triple screen setting provide no air restriction but also trap the smallest particle like below photo

For the Ti tip, I use Triple screen too, but with Ti CCD+Degum hemp fibre+normal pipe screen. because it provide smoothest and tasty vapor with mouth pull while i prefer Omni XL at day working outside.
lHkStu0.jpg

The degummed hemp fibre in the photo is after 2days heavy duty. Dear @Squiby and other vapcaper, may i know how often do you change the hemp fibre filter? i change about 1-2days some time 3days depends on the air restriction increase rate.

P.S. today is chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, we play late and now is near morning 5am :oWTF. i have to sleep now, good night~

Great pics, I do the same with the SS mesh although I use 120u rosin pressing mesh.

The finer mesh is much easier to cut as it still holds together.

I gave up on the hemp filter because it always grossed me out and I was changing weekly but with the SS screen I can get away with monthly. I do however tend to run mine through an MFLB Orbiter:

:disgust:.....no water in that unit is like no air in your tires.....:uhh:. lol

OH....about the screens. I use one that came with my Airzer that fits into the glass stems. It is the perfect size to bend a dome into then press into the vapcap......works perfect for me this way. I like to mix kief into my flower and this method works very well to keep particles above the vapcap Ti screen. I also use my vapcap in a water unit so this method keeps those much cleaner as well.

I much prefer it actually.
  1. More flavour
  2. I clean my bubbler less often
  3. No spillage on carpet when bubbler knocked over
  4. Less chance of getting mould in my bubbler
Considering the VapCap is smooth and cool enough to toke directly, the MFLB Orbiter offers that glass feel and the ability to see the milk shot. The extra vapor path length also helps to cool the vapor further.

Water just isn't necessary or desirable for me. :p

More like going from a water cooled engine to an air cooled engine, if you want to stick with car analogizes. Edit: I thought about it some more and it's more like going from an Air to Water intercooler to an Air to Air. It's still going to cool things down but not as drastically and the glass can begin to get warm after a few pulls.

Running "Wet" pieces dry is a lot more common than you think. Sometimes I don't want the flavour muted and I'm just looking for cooler vapour.

I got some new goodies in recently. I ordered a cocobolo Dynastash and an XL Omni condenser.

Here’s the first-gen Omni condenser next to the XL:

You can really tell the difference in machining up close. I especially like how the mouthpiece is no longer flat at the end and now tapers inwards:

01FSKvZ.jpg

Of course a condenser isn’t much on its own, you need something to put it in. I got it to use with my amboyna burl VonG stem. I love how the VonG looks but it’s hard to beat the Omni’s performance through water. Now I have the best of both worlds!

Nice collection there bud.

I recently received a new Omni condenser to go with my latest @Winegums stem and noticed the new indented mouthpiece. Like you I think it's an improvement.

Noticed your caps been tattooed, is that from a while ago or are DV offering these laser engravings again?

You guys kept talking about dry glass, and I was skeptical that it was worth messing with. Well I got a "J" hook, and I'm here to tell you it does work. Cools it just enough to be pleasurable.
As for making small screens, get leather punches. I Have a cap or two that do not click very loud. I use a 11mm leather punch that I use to make screens that I dome slightly, and put in the cap, (someone on here vaped tobacco that way). It really isn't that much louder, but I feel the click better. Doc

Well now there’s an idea. Are you saying the leather punch cuts the screens? Very hard to do?

Just want to say I learned a lot just catching up the last 3 or 4 pages! Piggie the turquoise inlay is NUTZ! Looks awesome.

I finally got a re-up of flowers since the motorcycle accident so that's been at least a month or more, so I am ABUSING my Angel Flight M. I'm so stoned I actually just named my M that, since it was like it was brought in by Angel Flight from a fellow member! If you haven't heard of it, Angel Flight is a program where recreational pilots volunteer to deliver donated organs all over the country. I had a buddies father that used to do it.

Hope everyone is enjoying their cap as much as I am today! Good flowers!

I change out my hemp filter whenever I clean my Vapcap which I'm prompted to do when the flavour goes off; usually every month or so. The filter keeps the condenser super clean so it just gets a quick swab with a Q-Tip. Sometimes I get a blob of resin reclaim forming at the end of the condenser which just pops off. Then I remove the screens, swab the screens and tip chamber or sometimes just take the jet lighter to them. Then I fashion a new filter, reassemble and congratulate my good work with a well deserved toke.

The Vapcap is super low maintenance.

Something I never even considered: I’ll have to give it a run and see what I think

The engraved cap is from Feb/March 2017. It would be cool if they started offering them again, I would buy a few more of them.

Last time I asked, they had nothing to say about starting back up with the engraving. I hope they do: I have a cap I’d like engraved, and I’d buy more, too if I could could get engraving. I’m sure the way they were handling it (as a side transaction via PayPal) was a pain in the kazoo, but I’m sure their billing could adapt to handling engraving as just part of a regular order.

I guess the question really is, do they want to?

I change out my hemp filter whenever I clean my Vapcap which I'm prompted to do when the flavour goes off; usually every month or so. I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that my ‘caps just do not gunk up. Perhaps I just don’t use it as much as I think I do, but my other gear gets cleaned every couple weeks, and I’ve not bothered to clean M or Omni in months.

Just checked Omni, and it looks like it will want an ethanol wash in the next couple months: some resin in the throat, and in the condenser shaft, but not much at all & the screen and bowl interior are bare of any buildup. Flavor is still fine.

Glad to see I’m not alone!

In other news, Pipes was cool enough to add me to his Skeletor list!
(Yes, I can wait; I just don’t like to - is that how it builds character?)
