i for one use cotton filters in all my stems and air path ways in my vapes . i find it works better then vaping through water . i have a grass hopper vape and i used a glass down stem , kinda like a straw to inhale the vapor trough . i have cotton in this air path as well .

How do you put cotton in the grasshopper air path? I can't imagine a good way to do that...

I'm now on day 6 and I do notice I have more of a desire to exercise and an increase in energy for physical work and getting house chores done etc. Negatives to being on this break are that I really have to button my lip as I'm more prone to give someone a piece of my mind which I really appreciated the medicine keeping me more mellowed. It seems like I'm actually more tired in the morning when I wake up, so there does seem to be a stimulating effect from the meds which might be an increase in adrenal hormones?

I honestly believe the medicine helps balance out some hormones in our bodies (ate least my body), I doubt there's any scientific studies or evidence to substantiate my claim that the meds are hormone balancing to a degree for certain individuals. I suffer from type 2 diabetes and high blood sugar which I know for a fact that high blood sugar does increase the temper and I'm sure this is hormone related. The medicine is a blessing in this regard. I do think that combustion ages an individual which can be seen by studying the face of a patient who is combusting. This is just a random thought but there's a possibility that vaping is way less harsh on aging the body than combustion. I also think that a patient can reduce the effect of the onset of munchies when vaping as compared to combusting where this is a benefit to those controlling blood glucose.

I hope these random personal observations might be of some use to patients that are on a Canna break or T break or those us nerdy types that like to research this stuff.

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for the support here!

Much love to all

Please share away, I really appreciate your way of putting things, perfectly reasoned and not at all arrogant. We have the exact same goal- the truth so we have nothing to disagree on, we just put heads and thoughts together with an open mind. (Sorry Im buzzing from some lovely outdoor organic Think Different, I probably shouldn't be posting this here sorry!)

There are certainly pros and cons to cannabis, and we have to find what works for us and against us, be dead honest, and decide what we do.
I feel you should consider that your experiences of alternate delivery routes haven't been a fair representation of what is possible.
You mentioned edibles. Eating cannabis can be done in ways with such extroadinarily different effects, depending of strain and dose. Anybody can have a bad experience, physical and mental, from eating pot.

I use edibles daily, mainly for digestive support. My allergies and reactions prevent me from taking the supplements I most need, like probiotics, enzymes etc.

The edibles are amazing for gut health and movement. There is no questiin it raises stomach acid. I have low stomach acid, but I cant remedy that (lemons, apple cider vinegar, hcl pills) due to adverse respiratry reactions to these harmless, extremely healing foods!

Before I began using edibles I just never felt like eating, and my intestines moved poorly. I have suffered digestive upset constantly for years due to allergies and intestinal dysbiosis, which I cant fix yet.

No matter how upset my stomach is, no appetite at all, full of undigested food from previous meal etc- as soon as I eat some green there is instant activity. I immediately regain my appetite, my gut starts to function and make noises and Im ready to eat before you know it.

It is just an amazing remedy for digestive health, and I swear it raises stomach acid by the way it instantly kickstarts digestion. But there is no bad experience or discomfort involved in this except that the edibles are generally more of a physical, and slightly lethargic and potentially fatiguing experience.

I simply infuse the clean orgainc weed into coconut oil in a small pan, for several hours, and then strain through muslin. I decarboxlate it first in the oven for 1 hr at 230/240 max F, covered by foil.
I dont make edibles from there, just take the cannabis infused cocnut oil from the jar to mouth with a spoon/knife. Simple and very effective, and 100% control of the dose by eye or scales.

So maybe edibles this way could work for you? And be nothing like your exoerience in the past.

Also consider material. My allergies are so bad I just cant use any weed that I havent made myself, if I can actually manage anything in shit UK weather and not well enough either.

I am so allergic to fertilisers I cant use any weed I could buy at all. Really severe bother to my respiratory tract. Chemical ferts are especially bad. They are irritating to the vocal chords. But I am allergic to most orgainc ferts as well.

The difference is, the organic fert allergies and are temporary harmless inconvenience, the chemical ones are actually more harmful.

Weed isnt EXACTLY harmful by itself, it can do "harm" from misuse.

Chemicals "are" harmful. Bear this in mind. Im sure there is a thread about vaping possibly being worse in terms of chemical effect from ferts, pesiticides etc.

Also you have only tried this one vaporizer. It really wouldn't be right and to judge vaporizing and what its could offer and do for somebody based on your experience of one device. I have a good friend who bought the firefly to a while ago and he has completely given up on it.
He could just never get satisfaction from it all for it to work properly.

You are doing the right thing to consider all potential variables. Just keep thinking on it it will be a subconscious thing as you experience more and learn and reflect. For sure there could be some irritation from heat and dryness depending on the temp setting you used and your material, which perhaps coupled with the inhalation of tiny dust particles may have produced a particular level of irritation and bother which will just take some time to settle down.

I really would try not to worry long term anyway just give it time and you will probably feel a lot better in that sense. Vaping through a water so is so much more gentle and friendly to the respiratory tract. And yes it certainly does asist in removing particulate from the vapor.
However there are people who are adamant that water is not enough and that you need to steal filter out the particulate with either a fine screen or some hemp or cotton.

Commonly recommended are the "Arizer elbow screens" or "EQ basket screens", which can be adapted to some vaporizers underneath the bowl for example. I no of members Who insist that they were suffering from major allergy symptoms which accumulated over days until they started using one of these screens to prevent the bits and particles from getting into their water tool which they are convinced they were inhaling along with the vapor.

Anyway I just wanted to suggest that your experience with the firefly 2 would very likely not be a fair representation of what you could experience using vaporizing as your delivery method. In terms of ease of use, enjoyment of use, effects and importantly effects on health.

These things can be drastically different with different vaporizers for different individuals. I know this because I have to be very picky about which vaporizers I use as I do not tolerate them all the same due to complex reasons I still am trying to understand.

So there are a few variables to consider. I use vaporizers through water tools mainly which I know I can tolerate at temperature settings which I also can tolerate well. If I go above the certain setting which is the maximum happy medium, without causing too much bother to my allergies for me to manage and be comfortable and happy, then suddenly I will experience a problem.

I also can only use extremely clean organic meds. If I was to use Street weed and various other vaporizers, my god I would be in hell, pure torment sure as hell of suffering with respiratory symptoms. The longer I did it the more time it would take after I ceased in order to recover.

I know this because I have done this before as I have really had access to weed which I can actually tolerate for the past 12 years. Using the chemical fertilized weed, the discomfort can persist for much longer after ceasing use and takes a while to recover.

Many times I thought I had damaged myself permanently I need to make a complete recovery a week or two later at most.
The clean organic medicine, there is no real recovery time at all because it never feels as though harm has been done. In my case I simply suffer an allergic reaction which causes excessive mucus production, identical to the reaction I have to eating any type of food each day.

Just to be clear I'm really not trying to call you back to cannabis, it is entirely your choice and your path. I just wanted to present these variables to you to consider because I am very confident that your experiences may just have been negative what unsatisfactory to you, and that's potentially some of these side effects if not all of them could be avoided.

Have a great weekend also, and keep being honest and authentic all the way.

How do you put cotton in the grasshopper air path? I can't imagine a good way to do that...

i bought one of these

https://torontohemp.com/products/dr...ie-downstem-14mm-5-shorter-straight-tube-size

only mine is clear glass then i got some of these

https://www.nourishedlife.com.au/na...34537/simply-gentle-organic-cotton-balls.html

not necessarily these exact same ones i just got some organic ones from wall mart . i carefully pulled a small tufft off one of the balls and put it in the stem with a long needle . then blow into the stem turning it around and blowing the cotton back and forth from end to end until i was happy with were it was and spaced evenly as possible so that the vapor would pass through the cotton evenly . i put it so the cotton is close to the mouth end . i would just take a freaking picture and show you but my photo bucket acct dont work no more . anyway once you have the cotton were you want it , and you really only need a small amount . you vape very easily the first few time till the vapor resin glues it in place so you dont inhale it lol .

i just put the down stem over the end of the grass hopper and draw

i do similar cotton applications in all my vapes my solos and dnyavape as well unlike how Squiby mentioned how she does it though i just put a tiny piece of this same cotton in the condenser again near the mouth end works great in all my vapes and stops the weed particals

I agree Alexis I have only tried the FF2 and the extreme Q with the ballon and whip and I'm now convinced that some type of water filtration or bubbler could make a huge difference plus the hemp/cotton screen seems prudent...ideally even an ice chamber to cool the vape after the bubbler might be a good idea. I think the issue I had with edibles is that they used RSO in the cookie that got me sick so they can be exact on the dosage amount for the patients at the dispensary this is how they make edibles so you know the exact dosage per edible and their medicine dosage is uniform across the board. Probably making butter with the medicine is easier on digestion than RSO. I've done little research on RSO but from what I read there is a specific way it is supposed to be made such as use buds only and indica strains. I questioned the dispensary on how the RSO was made and I don't think it is produced to the specs that Rick Simpson is adamant about (so this was an issue at least in my mind). Tinctures and oils properly produced by prudent dispensaries and labs and possibly patches similar to vitamin patches might the future for the extremely health conscious individuals. The data on whether long term edible use can have any negative effect on the liver is also a question that remains and more research needs to be done.

I do believe that avoiding combustion altogether is very prudent and possibly combust very rarely or a few times per year would probably be ok since there will be some recovery time if it's a few months since the last combustion. I do believe the medicine is a gift from God and those that are undergoing chemo or need deliverance from opioids (which is at epidemic levels here in the States) is an absolute miracle to help these patients. I do believe the pros outweigh the cons but the cons regarding health (respiratory health specifically) are pretty major issues for myself when viewing the various delivery methods of the medicine.

When God created the meds the primary form of delivery the last few thousand years has been via combustion so I do have to ask myself is man messing with the meds too much? hybrid, non seeded, dabs, and so forth.....I question all of these developments as I do with GMO and our food supply.

What was God's intent on the usage of this medicine for mankind? (this is my own personal philosophy and by no means do I want to debate anyone's religious or philosophical views on God or creation.

God's best and most medicinally valuable use of the medicine would be in the raw, ideally freshly harvested MJ. It is not psychoactive that way, as long as it isnt heated in any way.

As it decarboxylates over time, it will become slightly psychoactive. But in this raw form, it is WAY more medicinal, super anti-inflammatory and much larger doses can be taken.

Obviously nobody can afford to eat huge amounts of raw weed. In this current world anyway. Ideally we juice it.

Thr other methods yes are are choice and maybe come with their share of karma?

I've read that ingesting THC is difficult on the body? Probably a reason why patients can't eat it RAW?
I really don't know much about edibles or the best way to eat the medicine.

Thc doesnt form until heat is applied, it starts as (always forget, thcv or thca?) until heat is applied, bringing the high, which limits how much cannabinoids and whole plant medicine compounds we can consume.

I have long known about the repuation juicing raw cannabis has for its astnoishing healing powers. We only get a fraction of the super healing potential the way we use it, in small quantities, to get high. Hell Im no expert, but that is the picture I recall.

I think the problem I have is the actual vapor itself irritating me?

I really don't know for sure if it is the dryness of the vape, maybe its too hot? or there is chemistry below combustion that is irritating me? I would think that the irritation of the particles would be short lived and not produce pain in the chest?

How healthy is inhaling terpenes below combustion? Are terpenes an irritant?

Just so you know.... vaping doesn't depend on long slow draws. To avoid throat and lung irritation just take short draws into the mouth before inhaling. Don't inhale directly into the lungs for 10-15 seconds. That for sure will cause most people to at least experience irritation leading to cough. Personally I characterize one hit as 2 five second mouth draws. Holding it in the mouth reduces the temp and the subsequent irritation.

If vaping causes you chest pain - enough to make you want to stop vaping - then try a different kind of vape, try a different style of inhaling, and for sure try different types of cannabis. If you live in a legal state then only purchase cannabis that has been lab-tested, not only for cannabinoid profile, but for contaminants like insecticides, fungus, etc. You may be suffering merely from bad "weed."

Or maybe cannabis is just not good for you. I've never heard of anyone having abdominal pain from edibles, or severe chest pain from vaping. So do what's right for you.

@Truth Seeker , I didnt make or consider the valid point made above about the actual weed being bad. I mean in terms of pathogens. For sure you could have contracted a fungal infection from the bud.

This has happened to me before. We had a outdoor plant in autumn, harvested, finally into the jar a little too moist. When I first vaped it I suffered an allergic type reaction to it which didnt wear off and my throat and lungs were very bothered following.

Im extremely in tune with my bodily symptoms regarding infections and locations, patterns, similarities I recognize etc. Ive been so hreaviky plagued by infections all over of all kinds, with extreme symptoms I have to learn to identify and manage like a fire it is so intense.

So I was certain I had picked up a fungal infection from the plant. It smelled good, looked fine, tasted fine. I finally got 3 samples of the plant tested along with 5 samples from others I had no bad reaction to or reason to suspect. They were tested in a random order, and fair manner. All 3 of the suspect samples tested positive for "aspergillus niger", aka- black mold!

The other 5 samples tested clean. I also was tested and had the apsergillus infection in my sinuses, throat very badly, and left lung, as well as bladder.

Infections always get into my bladder very quickly, beginning in the respiratory tract. It is a natural clearing route. My respiratory symptoms were pretty bad. Very sore/raw, uncomfirtable etc.

So the fungal infection can feel exactly like an injury. Luckily I only had a small dose and the infection, although spread, was moderate. I overcame it easily with treatment.
I have not had a similar incident with infection from weed (that I know of) or suspicion, ever since then, nor before I believe. That was 3 years ago.

Also in my longterm experience of contacting, treating and overcoming hundreds of seperate infections, I have always found for my body that fungus is pretty easy to get rid of. Compared to many others like the neurological "coxsackie viruses" I have been plagued by the last 5 years, with at least 15 infections in that time from just 2 particular strains- coxsackie A1, and B4. They seem to be the only ones commonly circulating through society, they are MASSIVELY underdiagnosed and silently causing havoc for many sick people.

They can EASILY be identified with advanced diagnostic tools but the medical establishment won't allow these techiniques to receive any credit, acknowledgement or publicity. In fact, they go all out total war to ban, suppress, ridicule, invalidate etc etc. In their usual evil way (just read uo about the Rife technology- a perfect cure for cancer 80 plus years ago, destroyed at the time and buried ever since.)

Anyway @Truth Seeker if I lost your attention ;), certainly consider the possibility you have picked up a fungal infection. Look into some natural remedies to treat it, help the symptoms, and repair any tissue damage:

Number 1- Oil of Oregano! Amazing stuff for respiratory health. It heals damaged lungs incredibly, for ex smokers it is like a clock turn back. And it is very antifungal, antimicrobe all rounder. Get it on ebay or anywhere with the "stuff".

Raw organic garlic will also help a lot.

Okay hope something there might help. Nothing but truth for you anyway bro, as far as I can say anyway take cate man!

I do go to a dispensary where everything is lab tested. I'm sure the edible problem I had was due to RSO oil in the edibles and whatever technique was used. The cooking method of the medicine and its use in butter is probably far superior on digestion yet uniform dosages are probably impossible? that's how the dispensary edibles are labeled down to the exact MG per dosage.

I must admit Alexis you went way over my head with all the various viruses and medical terminology which you have knowledge of :)
I think having a proper vape set up with bubbler/filter/possibly an ice chamber or some means to wet or cool the vape might be the only way to vape the medicine properly. The combination of Art and Science in setting up the vaporizer is way, way more complex than I ever thought it would be after reading the posts on this forum (I'm certain there's a proper temp/technique etc for each individual). For some individuals combustion just might work better for them even if it is an inferior method of delivery? I really don't know what works best as I'm unhappy with both vaporizers I own and I researched both before purchasing the FF2 and the Extreme Q. Both vapes The Extreme Q balloon and the FF2 caused a heartburn type of feeling. I think it possibly could the the dryness of the vape and both not having a filter?

I do go to a dispensary where everything is lab tested. I'm sure the edible problem I had was due to RSO oil in the edibles and whatever technique was used. The cooking method of the medicine and its use in butter is probably far superior on digestion yet uniform dosages are probably impossible? that's how the dispensary edibles are labeled down to the exact MG per dosage.

Yeah definitely. You really would want to research vapes specifically for their health effects, as in the ones that are designed and known to be cooler, smoother, healthier etc.

Usually all glass airpaths are touted as being better for health and the respiratory tract.
But at the least through water. Ice might not be necessary if you have anough water filtration. I prefer bubblers/bongs that can hold a lot of water, so that the water is several inches deep at least, for extra cooling.

I used to own a large "Verdamper" vaporizer, I filled it so it was 8 inches deep in water.

Hey dont worry about all the terminology, pathogens etc I mentioned. Im just simply sharing my experiences, but my main point was to illustrate how fungal infected weed can easily cause an infection that can be an experience exactly like you are having.

If I was you I wouls certainly look into the oil of oregano for lung health and tissue repair. It is amazing stuff I swear, also very good for the digestive health and cleaning the intestines of bad microbes.

Be well!:)

I find very warm water to be even more soothing then ice. It's the humidity it adds that feels nice. I'm not sure if inhaling humid vapor is great, either, though. There's a lot of factors to consider when inhaling things.

I also think that increased bubble quantity (preferably smaller bubbles) is even more important then a lot of water, for filtration, because the only particulates that get caught by the water, are the ones on the outside of the bubble, so the more total surface area with the bubbles that contacts the water, the more filtration.

In regards to moldy weed...throw it out. You don't want to inhale fungus. That's just asking for a respiratory infection. It's not worth the money that the buds cost.

ok, here's an interesting spin on a CannaBreak...

the last 10-12 weeks, I've been undergoing chemo & radiation for Multiple Myeloma.

while the cancer was chewing away at me, I lost around 35lbs, and noticed that I wasn't using anywhere
near as much cannabis as is normal for me... then it dawned on me that there was undoubtedly a large amount of cannabinoids in that 35lbs! So even in the midst of the dark crazies of cancer, there are bright spots where you just get to laugh :)

Hi, I'm just here for share my experiment too. I'm 25 years old, smoked joints (mixed with tobacco, unfortunately. I'm french) since my 20-21. Switch to vape since almost one year (first with a Solo, then a Mighty and now with my beloved vapcap). Since almost 2 years I consumme cannabis all day and with vapes my tolerance uped too high (0.5g per day, more days-off) so I guessed than I need a little break, just for see.

Just came out of my little break last night (4 days) with just a caps (0.075g) of some Tom Kush OG and gosh ! Never baked so far in all my life ! The effects lasted at least 4 or 5 hours, and were hardly manageable because of their power !

Now i want to keep my tolerance lower as possible.

That's the spirit, showing that just a short break can bring a large and quick shift in perspective and physiology. Thanks for sharing that with us!

Hi guys,

About to start a new job and I gotta be firing on all cylinders.

So that makes this day one of a 3-6 months T break.

I don't know if this company does any mandatory testing but I can't risk it. Mostly I'm just capping myself as this is a big jump in responsibility and work load.

Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it.

I'll still be around here though as I'd never quit on you fine folk.

You got this, man, The first few weeks are the hardest, and then it's easier/more comfortable to have your routine changed, after that. You should check in to report any changes you notice.
