Anyone on here have experience purchasing from Planet of the Vapes? Looks like my best option atm but I just wanna make sure they're legit
Puffitup.com, I'm sure others will agree, Randy and the crew are top notch. I'll be ordering an Air II as soon as they are available from PUI!

Edit: I do not have any personal experience with planet of the Vapes so I don't want to say they're a bad place to order from but I know puffitup.com is an excellent place to order from and I am not a paid spokesperson in any way just a happy customer.

If you're located in Canada (or the US) I highly recommend PlanetVape.ca

They might still be offering the Solo II pkg for FC members. It was the best deal around!!

I haven't purchased from Puffitup, but I hear good things. Nor have I purchased from planet of the vapes but I haven't heard to much about them

I recommended PIU a few posts back as that is where I recently bought a Mighty (great deal). But I bought my Solo 2 from PlanetVape.ca! They gave me a great discount as well. Getting old and forgetful...

I also recommend them; great folks to deal with.

Nvm I've decided on the Solo II:)

Is draw resistance a problem on the Solo II? Reading on here it's the same as the original Solo?? Or is there an updated model being sold now?

And if I get it from puffitup, it comes with a free airflow stem.. does this stem give it less draw resistance? And will it fit into the Solo II properly? Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to this and want to make the best first purchase I can.

The Arizer Solo 2 is your best choice.

So is the draw resistance with the stock stems at an acceptable level?
Yes the airflow issue has been remedied (for me) I can use the stock stems with no problem. You won't be gasping for air unless you have a lung problem to begin with. None of us know your situation we are all different.

Sometimes you need to just jump in.....:)

Edit @OF is so right about that. Draw restriction or ease of draw can be subjective. All that we can say is how it worked for us.

In that case, I'd love to hear just how it worked for you guys, then. Even if it's subjective, I can take your opinions and then make my own decision as to whether I want to take the risk based on that.

Excellent! You're in luck, there's hundreds of such posts here and (more so) the Solo I and Air threads.

Some rave about it, some of us had no such problems to start with. Some that thought they had that problem changed their minds when they actually tried the less restricted flow and found out it had shortcomings that probably played a part of the original design and testing?

It's an individual call for sure, but if you want opinions you're in luck, there are lots of them out there. I'd say off hand it's probably the most popular sub topic? If not it would be second behind 'how much I love my new Solo/Air....'. Plenty of good reading on the topic to entertain you until your new vape gets here?

Originally I had the Solo OG from 2011. I ended up buying all kinds of easy airflow stems from @PlanetVape a vendor that's a sponsor on this forum. I needed an ease of draw I needed to enjoy my Solo OG. In 2014 Solo OG had another revision to the draw resistance with the Solo OG. I thought it was a great upgrade. It still had some resistance but it didn't bother me. Now the Solo 2 doesn't have hardly any resistance IMO. I just use the stock stems with no screen. Just keep the holes clear.

The Solo OG needed to recover after a big draw. It would take 20-30 seconds sometimes to go back to the same temp. The original Solos from 2011 the unit I have the temp doesnt dip. It was the 2014 unit that would suffer from recovery time.

Some folks actually like the older model Solo. They feel they get bigger clouds and the resistance isn't an issue.

I dab. A lot.
Can you guys help me decide between the Solo II or the Boundless CFX
Solo II is RoHS certified and a cleaner air path

Honestly I think the OG Air has an acceptable draw resistance  With that being said, an improvement on what is already there for me will be acceptable because I am okay with the current draw resistance.

Contact which ever retailer prior to your purchase. They may have something better for an FC member.

I feel that my Solo II is producing less vapor and requiring stronger draws. I am packing loose and pulling up stem ever so slightly. Thinking it might have to do with material getting down into the 4 small holes in the chamber.

How can I clean those out? Is it even possible?

Sorry to hear it. "less vapor"? Less than what/when? Did it degrade? Otherwise I don't follow the link with plugged holes......

Anyway, "producing less vapor and requiring stronger draws" doesn't make sense. They are connected, weak vapor becomes weaker if you draw harder. You might get more volume but the total THC content will we less, not more, than if you backed off and let it form naturally. Hitting it harder cloud chasing is blazing logic. There, increased draw pulls Oxygen into the fire and makes more heat. With Solo, OTOH, pulling in more (COLD) air only robs heat that would make vapor otherwise (heat can only transfer in so fast.....) as it dilutes what is left. Hardly progress if the goal was more THC in the hit........

Ever watch the show offs that 'milk' or 'chalk' their WT so they become opaque? The do it dead slow, right? Why?

Solo is a conduction vape, heat (in calories, not degrees) can only move through the glass walls so fast before the temperature drops too far to be practical. There is a built in limit, unlike blazing. "Packing loose" is probably not helping, in fact just the opposite. Intact budlets (very tightly packed, right?) or well cured, medium to fine ground herb, at least moderately packed will get the heat into the load faster than loose with all the air gaps. That's why fiberglass 'wool' works so well insulating your house.

To your question, I seriously doubt it's a problem but you can easily blow debris down and out of the oven (much more effective with the new design IMO). Any debris will come out the hole with the four leads from the oven:

DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER AS I DID TO TAKE THE PHOTO. The display and/or 3 switches are 'proud' and can easily be wrecked. One of the reasons for opening it up and taking the photo is to show there is nothing to be gained. If you absolutely must you can carefully remove the two front screws through the bottom plate. Front ONLY, the rear 2 retain the chassis. You can then slide the top plate and two long rods out the top for better access.

Assuming your oven holes might be plugged, do the following:
  1. Hold the Solo 2 upside down and give the bottom a few pats with your hand. You may see a few small particles fall out of the oven.
  2. Making sure your mouth is dry, blow quickly through the air intake holes on the back/top of the unit. Again, you may notice a few particles coming out.
  3. Using a large pin or sewing needle, carefully poke into each of the four holes to clear out any debris. Just don't push the pin/needle too far into the holes.
  4. Repeat steps 1. and 2.
That should take care of the problem. Good luck.

EDIT: I was writing this at the same time as you, @OF. Good advice.

I saw a similar post on Reddit asking about vapor production decreasing despite everything else being equal.

The one thing everyone forgot to ask was how old and dried out the herb is.

If your comparing the vapor production from the end of your stash to the first few sessions it's going to be less. Less water content and some degradation in cannabinoids and terpenes. I also find the resin is not as sticky to the touch.

Assuming no humidity packs are used.

The solo II prefers a medium coarse grind; I find the herb is too big to fall into the unit (avb could if it's disturbed).

Edit/Update

I gave a little blow through the air vents on the back of my unit shortly after a session. I witnessed some debris leaving the Solo oven. Thanks for the tip

I would not think it wise to blow through the air ports when the unit is still hot. Just wait until it's cooled down.

I was reading that post and finishing my session at the same time. Curiosity got the better of me.

I just got my Solo2 warranty replacement back from the US satellite company. They sent me a new Solo 2 within 1 business day and received it today. I still don't know the cause of death (error5) but it was replaced not repaired which is awesome. I think it means the heater broke, but how I don't know. Happy to have my favorite vape back anyway! Overall cost to me was only 1 $7 stamp.

Cool to hear man!
Few weeks ago I got my replacement unit shipped from Germany (I'm in Belgium). Between me sending the broken one and receiving the (also brand) new one was 2 weeks and 13eur though :(

Nobody told me what was the cause for the error 5...
