Vaped Out
Very tempted to try an M. Seems people have chucked some high class vapes for the VC. Stealthy while fishing is the goal actually. Little niches in ways of being stealthy in very different situations have a hand in VAS.
While the Vapcap is stealthy and I really like it, using a torch eh not so stealthy. However if you're out on a boat all alone, then I guess you can say it is.

I fish quite often. Out of Kayaks, bass/bowfishing boat, and a pontoon boat. I also bowfish, hunt, camp, and go off-roading often as well.

The M or titanium omni is definitely a great vape for these activities!

I use my VC everywhere.... I love that my omni ti doesn't need electricity and even if it completely got submerged in water it wouldn't hurt a thing! A great perk when out on the water!

How many vapes do you know of that can handle going through the washer and dryer?? My M has been there and returned no worse for wear!

Now... A simple tip that has helped me quite a bit when out and active... I wear my keys around my neck and attach a small strong magnet to the key ring... Helps removing the cap and holding it for you. Seems like a small thing but very helpful when I'm holding a rod in one hand and a beer in the other...

Another thing to consider... Despite their claims... Most of these cheap torch lighters are not very windproof... Know where you're going and how windy it will be there... Test your lighter before hand in these conditions.

I have tried my share of vapes... But for my active outdoor lifestyle it's hard to beat the M/Omni series vapcaps.

still havent made it to the smoke shop for butane so i'm candling it for now.. even with the longer process it's eliminating a lot of my frustrations with the M. but jeeze it takes ages for that first click. still, better than trying to fight my finicky torches for sure. i even managed to safely heat up some hash outside with this candle :spliff:

unfortunately the thick hemp wick was a no-go. burned way too fast. the wax is definitely not optional

Very cool with the O-Rings @stardustsailor ! Are they of the same material as the Dynavap ones?

Also, a question about the durability of the Cap: will the Caps degrade over time until they won't work/click anymore, or are they build to last a lifetime?

Most probably yes ,they are the same material,as I was not able to trace any quad (X-) rings made of Viton .
Only from Buna N ( nitrile ) .

The cap itself probably is going to last for pretty long years ( more than a few decades most probably ) ,
if not damaged by any mechanical stress / force.
But the "clickers" ( aka "snap discs" ,"bimetallic discs" ) have an average life range of just 3000 to > 100 000 clicks, depending on their quality (materials made of) and actual use ( or abuse = overheating ).

That means that the cap as an operating unit (and not as a simple cover ) has indeed a "pre-programmed end of life " .
Still, this is unavoidable .The "nature" itself of the "clickers" sets the limit.
Every simple or complex moving mechanism ,eventually will wear-off.

The quick hit or two and not waiting for warm up can be nice at times. Not holding a lighter by my face and a vape in the other for 15 seconds or more is stealthy. Especially because I tend to hold my elbow at shoulder level for some reason. The size is right. Wind can make a Vapor Genie impossible. $50 seems like a reasonable ticket for this ride! VAS treatment in the works here.

Done.

Here's the process:
Go to the Forum list and under the Vaporizer Discussion category click on Portable Vaporizers.
Click on Best of

Assuming a click includes both the heated and subsequent cooled click...

I vape maybe 5 times per day with each session having 3 heating cycles. So, at the minimum life span with no abuse to the cap, 3000 ÷ 15 cycles per day = 200 days. At the max of 100,000 clicks ÷ 15 = 6,666 days ÷ 365 days = 18.2 years of beautiful vapor filled days.

I have caps that are almost 2 years old that are still performing like the day they magically arrived at my doorstep. So far they have exceeded the minimum potential lifespan of only 200 days.

I'm hoping my caps last a few decades......

I found those figures about "snap discs" service life ( yes, a "cycle" is both the heating and cooling clicks)
when I did a quick search about them .
Most oftenly service life is ~100 000 cycles ,regarding bimetallic discs of high quality.
As most of them are rated for 10A of continuous use -which means that they are operating under a certain heat load before ( and if ) they click.
That shortens their service life considerably.

Be kind to your cap ,meaning that you do not overheat it and you do not allow your dog to chew on it.
Respect the click.
Then your VC cap should last for many years.

Still , better be safe than sorry.
Buying a spare one is always a good idea.

Cheers.

Sorry for cross-posting, but in the end it fits here best. My favorite method vaping traditional hash with a "basket":

It's just a simple screen needed. Find one with a small diameter or cut it up (in a circle). Form a basket out out it. That is quite easy: Place the screen centered flat on the top of your Vapcap Tip, then push it in. You could use a small pencil for it, anything that fits. Now you have made a small basket out of your screen, in which you can pop a tiny chunk, or better, a very flat pancake.
Cleaning is now very easy - you get out your "basket" and then push it flat. All bits attached to it will fall off.

How do you measure the amperage on the cap? There is no electricity in the cap as we use it. The 10A they are talking about is the limit switch contacts. You don't need no stinking switches.
I think you guys are overthinking these caps. It's just two (2) dissimilar metals smooched together that have two different heat expansion rates. They are used extensively through the furnace industry, to control overheating, or for keeping the fan from pushing non heated air into the climate controlled area, by way of micro switches. Not trying to be a smart ass. I'm a retired electrician, (45 years). I used limit switches on a regular basis. Doc

After daily driving with the M for a months, i can't control myself anymore and ordered a Omnivap XL and Cocobolo Nonavong Stem and a Cocobolo T-woody S for a friend. These 8 days waiting for the green mail are my longest days in my life. Im so frustrated every morning when i didnt see the postman come with the green mail, but it finally came in on last saturday morning, i think i have dynagasm and pregnant. Here is some photo:

Cocobolo nonavong stem swap with the M midsection is so good to hold on hand and more easy to spin.

and some body swapping, Omnivong XL is available now!

and i found that omni XL-condenser is fit in the M midsection and function-able with the ti-tip

damn i need a lot materials to test them out:science::rofl:

P.S. i dont know what VAS is (i see you guys talking this term a lot), but i can feel it is really strong force with me:(

Oh no....I'm finding I need to overheat the cap on the 3rd cycle by 3 seconds to get that great vapor when I'm using my wonderful Jarhead heater. Can one of you math whizzes tell me how many years of cap clicking I'm losing by doing that? Or is there a work-around?

Of course there's not any electric current passing through the two bimetallic discs of the VC cap.
Still ,it's the same bimetallic discs used ,as in thermostat switches .
So,if the latter are rated for 100 000 cycles UNDER 10 A current ,
then in our case -and assuming that the click is respected -the service life of the clickers is more than 100 000 cycles ,since the discs inside the cap are NOT under constant (operating) heat load ,due to
electric current. They are not used as electric switches but as audible temperature indicators.
Nevertheless, they still have a certain service life.
That is an honest answer to the question asked by @passenger.

Can't really answer that.
But my hard guess is that yes ,you are shortening their service life
considerably ,heating for 3" after the click.

60 going on 20
Prepping for a mission today........I have a rehearsal this evening with about 8 peeps, most who usually stay around and ask me if I have any of my "toys" with me. One of the guys just started smoking again after 20 years (really working with his sleep issues). I'm bringing him and the drummer fresh M's with a full triple torch lighter, and an index card with URL's for resources.

But the real evil is for the after rehearsal sit down. I'm going to have a preloaded VC for everyone, and my @Pipes Jarhead. Look for some orders @VapCap
