Terpene beginner

So I'm delving in to the world of terpenes and have a few questions (as well as MANY questions)!

-Can liquid terpenes be mixed in to regular ejuice (70VG/30PG)? Can it mix with 100%VG as well?
-Can terpenes be mixed in to any liquid such as a cup of coffee, etc? If VG doesn't mix well does anyone recommend a 50VG/50PG mix? I'm not looking to make a large mixture with the terp's but just to add 2 or 3 drops in to 3ml ejuice if that makes a difference...

Now, I bought some steam distilled Terp's from 'True Terpenes' site... Linalool, Myrcene and Alpha Pinene and plan to hopefully add it in to my Smok Baby Beast tank...It holds 3ml so I was thinking about adding 2 to 3 drops. Hopefully if it mixes well with my usual 65%VG/35PG ejuice I can mix it "in tank" by just adding the drops and rolling the tank till it looks blended.
My next concern is I have a Smok Alien 220w mod, and since I only have the baby beast tanks regular coils (either the .15ohm or .4ohm coils), I have no idea what wattage to vape at with the terpenes in the mix...I saw that Linalool for example has a boiling point of 380F, and I can only use the wattage mode.

Total beginner to Terpenes, but I did mix some Linalool from a different company to my ejuice and LOVED the effects for anxiety!

Any and all help and info will be greatly appreciated!

From what I have read, some terpenes are not very water soluble which is what PG and VG are most compatible with. This would mean that you might have to use something like PEG 400/300/200 which is used in ejmix, oils tend to be more soluble in that dilution. I would say if you had luck with linalool in your ejuice, you should have similar results with the other terpenes as I seem to remember linalool being an oily substance the last time I had a sample. I would caution on using too many drops, the terpenes that I have are very strong. I also suggest to keep the temperature fairly low, I don't use sub ohm atomizers personally with my ecig or distillate tanks, everything runs between 5-8 watts and medicates plenty well.

Here's a decent little read on terpenes - http://steephill.com/blogs/32/Cannabis,-Terpenes-and-the-Entourage-Effect

Thanks for the reply!
The new terp's I bought are supposed to be very pure, the myrcene is 99%, with the 1% supposedly being leftover plant matter from the extraction.
Guess ill see if any of the terps will mix as well as the first experiment with Linalool, I was using some 65%VG/35%PG ejuice and it seemed to mix okay. I could definitely taste it, very floral indeed! I added 3 drops to 3ml ejuice, directly in the tank. Rolled it around mixed it the same way as I do when blending ejuice flavors...it thinned it out as well.
Last night I added 2 drops Linalool to my 100%VG CBD juice, straight in the tank, rolled it around, and it "seemed" to mix. Thinned out the 100%VG a lot, but holding it up to a light it seemed decently blended. I'm thinking that mixing terps with VG/PG just wont hold in to a proper suspension for a long time, but for a quick vape session they seem to mix okay....correct me if I'm wrong on that assumption though!
Guess its time to find some ejuice that is made with PEG or high in PG at least...

As far as mixing 3 drops or so in a cup of coffee, I'll have to experiment with that once the terp's arrive...I got the idea from some kid doing that on a youtube video, but he seemed a bit idiotic so who knows?!
Was just thinking of adding a couple drops of Alpha Pinene to the morning cup.

I saw on 'Holy Terps' site they sell some liquid... "You can either use Holy Terp as is or mix with your extracts or concentrates without ever worrying about separation in your cartridge. Add Holy Terp to your extracts and have the combination transform into a fully homogenized liquid that is ready for use."

So does that mean its fine to add it to say 50%PG/50%VG ejuice with no separation worries or are they talking about ejuice with PEG? Thing is, I've been hearing some nasty things about using PEG for vaporization, probably why most companies steer clear of it and only use VG, PG or a mix.

Anyone have experience with using Holy Terp or any liquid terpenes in general? Would love to hear about using it to add to ejuice or CBD vape oil...

Also, the same site I bought my terpenes from sells this mix https://buy-terpenes.com/products/viscosity/viscosity-extract-liquifier/
Would it be better than say mixing with regular ejuice?

Also a terpene beginner, having just received some cannabis-derived terpenes. Plan to use them in the new Trinity Tank.

As terpenes are chemically diverse, some will be more soluble in glycols than others. If you look at the components of flavors used in ejuice (for example, here) you'll find terpenes listed among them. Also, water solubility information is easy to find. For example, linalool's solubility in water is 1.56 g/l, and it's density is 0.86 g/ml. This works out to 1.81 ml/l - not very soluble in water. Diving a little deeper, it's more soluble in alcohol, ether, oils and propylene glycol, but it's insoluble in glycerin (HSDB).

@psychonaut - any tips on mixing terpenes with solid concentrate?

@Jason267 - according to the test results, these particular cannabis-derived terpenes are mostly myrcene and linalool (with caryophyllene placing third). Would prefer to save money buying chemically pure terpenes in the future. What's your experience with True Terpenes?

Thanks for the info!
@Accept I just ordered from True Terpenes, they have some lab reports (COA's) available on their site for each terpene and they are all VERY pure it looks like. The lowest purity for one of them is 89%, but most are close to 100%. So I'm hoping they are amazing! They are not cannabis derived, but from various plants depending on the type of Terpene, though the more I read on Terp's sounds like it doesn't matter what plant they are extracted from...Linalool is Linalool, etc. May be wrong on that though...

The only terpene ive tried was from a company called FX/Highland Farms, it was their "Chill" terpene which was supposedly 100% Linalool but I'm guessing the purity wasn't very high. Added some to my vape tank, 2 drops to 3ml ejuice and it was quite nice! Ill report my findings once I receive my order from True Terpenes.

I was talking to a guy that works at True Terpenes, asking about different ways to "dose" them, he mentioned that he just adds 2 drops of Linalool and 1 drop Alpha Pinene to a teaspoon of coconut oil. Mixes it all up in a small jar and then either puts it in a cup of coffee or if in a hurry just eats the mixture down! So sounds like there are various ways to take terps, even if they don't suspend well...
Experiment time soon!

@Accept I haven't mixed any terpenes into concentrates yet but plan to. I have about half a gram of distillate in a syringe. I plan on lightly warming in a hot water bath then plunging it out into a silicone container, then add in a drop of terpenes and mix with a dab tool.

I am a terpene newbie as well, so take any advice I have as such.

Before doing that, you might try using some of the cartridges that re-add terpenes after extraction. To me, they taste terrible. Someone will have to really do a lot of convincing there are real world health benefits before I want to suck on that much ass again.

Ive only tried linalool and the taste from vaping it isn't bad at all, very floral and sweet. Not sure about the other terpenes out there. Will be experimenting with Myrcene and Alpha Pinene soon...so we shall see!

Looking through this forum, seems like most people mix their liquid terpenes with PEG...Ive always read that its best to stay away from PEG? I know that vaping in general isn't the healthiest thing in the world, but thought that VG and PG was the way to go...but since it wont mix well with terpenes I guess ill have to buy one of the products that terpene sites sell that mixes well.
True Terpenes sells "Viscosity", where you can mix your terpenes with it, but not sure how good that stuff would turn out to be...

What else (for vaping or oral dose) besides PEG can you mix your terpenes in to create a proper suspended blend?

Where are you seeing that at? People here want to mix their terpenes with cannabis extracts. Most of us are not into vaping PG, VG, PEG, MCT, or any other carrier or dilutant. We use terpenes to AVOID mixing with PG. Also, most of us are talking about strain specific terpene blends, not vaping isolated terpenes. I would not want to vape isolated terpenes.

Not sure of the exact pages or posts, but I went through most of the forum when it had anything to do with Terpenes. I did see lots of posts regarding using terpenes and not any sort of mixer though.

I'm not totally in to adding terpenes to vape ejuice, I'd love to add some to my CBD oil (its full spectrum from "whole plant"). But most of that comes suspended in either 100%VG or a mix of VG/PG. Why I was interested in anything to do with terpenes! Eager to learn the basics! I live in Texas, so cannabis concentrates aren't readily available in this godforsaken part of the earth :) Maybe someday though...

Texas?!?!!??? You might want to subscribe to these guys' channel. (At least before you go too far down the concentrate path.)

I have a eureka white widow distillate tank that tastes pretty spot on. It uses a ceramic heating element and has nice big holes for the oil to flow into. I actually plan on getting another one, or finding out where I can source empty replacement tanks and just fill my own if the experiment proves worthwhile.

My biggest question is how much terpenes to add into the distillate. Initially I was thinking a single drop per gram but I am still researching. If anyone happens to have this answer I'd gladly appreciate it!

Been mixing for >24 hours. Started with 0.5g dry crumble. Added one small drop at a time (from supplied capillary pipette), incubating for several hours at 32C between each drop. Goal was to liquefy concentrate enough to load in a Trinity tank.

Eventually added seven drops. These are much smaller than drops from a glass bottle dropper. Even so, needed extra heat to draw into a syringe.

Aroma and flavor seem about right, not over-powering. Mixture is still too thick for the tank. Needed to take several long hits before it began producing vapor.

That sounds a little disappointing to me, but also quite predictable, from what little info I can gather about the trinity tank.

From what I can see, it consists of a standard, unregulated vape pen battery, and an apparently undifferentiated, high-resistance, metal-coil wire atomizer with pinholes for wicking and bottom air flow?

Please correct me if I am wrong on any of those details? (SiC heater? :uhh: really?)

Maybe you can explain to me how the "4 second temp control" works too... :| :(

It's too bad you didn't fill your terpene-shatter slurry into one of my cubis/donkey tanks, you'd be ripping and flying in no time! No need for several warm up hits before vapor, you can take "temp control" hits for much longer than 4 seconds :mental: (as long as you please)

Agreed - this test of the tank was a little disappointing. The terpenes came through with flying colors, however. Undeniable effects, very sedative as desired (maybe even a little too sedative:zzz:). Like the flavor, too. Mixing difficulty was likely due to inexperience and starting material - purged this crumble for a week so it's extremely dry (really into purging lately :puke:). Knowing how much to start with should help. Another cannabis learning experience. :science:

This tank is inexpensive and semi-disposable and it does work as advertised. It's certainly very stealthy, and it hits hard. No idea how much concentrate used at this point - could have ripped through half a gram in one session, FAIK. Afraid disassembly would destroy it, so that will have to wait. It was difficult to load (used a wide-bore, blunt needle). The draw was very tight, even tighter than the Herc tank, so using it wasn't exactly a pleasant, sensual experience. Don't know what's going on with the battery - like the integrated USB port, though. Got it for the sake of testing the tank. Will try a box mod with more power next.

Added terpenes could make your designs more accessible, @Vape Donkey 650, so might have to make one. For now, loving the EHPro Fusion kit, recommended by @Filhote and described in the one-hitter thread. Delicious, 100% VG nic juice spiked with solid concentrate on demand.

To follow up, connected Trinity tank to a box mod, but only managed to coax one or two ineffective hits. Then, cleaned and disassembled (destroying it in the process, as expected).

Heating element is a wire coil wound inside what appears to be a W9TECH porous, ceramic wick. Found no evidence of glue, only metal, ceramic and silicone.

Judging by the tiny holes leading to the ceramic wick, the tank would probably work better with a more fluid concentrate. 15 USD seems like a fair price.

Damn I made a tank design in my CAD files just like this. Thanks a lot for dissecting this. I heard rumors it was SiC but never any confirmations. I can't really tell from the photo, but porous black ceramic is impossible to clean in my opinion, so I have to second guess the "re-usable" functionality of this cartomizer.

Sure, taking things apart is half the fun. Could be SiC - unable to remove. Don't know if SiC can be made porous. Seems like it would need to be for the concentrate to get to the coil. Looks similar to new, longer ceramic donuts W9TECH sells, so guessing it's one of these.

If I'm looking at this correctly, we have a canopus style coil inside?

This seems likely, in which case the wire would be grade 2 titanium - but no independent confirmation. Could be the Alpha Centauri V3 Sirius ceramic coil, unless there's no difference.
