MiniVAP Vaporizer

I have the battery unit, but not the original charger.

I have charged it with a 15v 500mah charger. After 6 hours charging, light from battery when I assembled the vape was green.

I switched it on pressing the two buttons, and the sequence of lights begin while the battery light is green. No matter what temperature I select, light (pink for example) starts blinking but does not get solid because suddenly the light from battery turns to red and the Minivap shuts down
Wanted to know why in order to know what I need to buy (if the battery is dead or anything like that I assume I have to spend 90€ on a new one)

?? since the stock charger charges at 16.8V and 2.5 A, your 15V and 0.5A charger seems underpowered possibly. Stock is 42 watts and yours is 7.5 watts only and lower voltage (volts X amps = watts). Stock is 5.6 times the power of yours.
When assembled with battery, mine briefly flashes green and then flashes battery level. I ran mine down so it flashes green at startup and then red (low battery)
Lowest battery level is red, but it still heats fine. Yours is likely too low in red zone/ battery too low to operate so it shuts down.

How do you charge the battery as it has special/unique pins in its battery stand? Do you have the stock battery dock but not the plug in charger?
I'd try charging much more since your charger is so whimpy :)

And when battery is attached, initial green just shows it has a good connection and then it switches to battery level so yours seems to be showing low battery/ maybe too low to go so it auto shuts down.

Seems like BEST option is to buy the proper charger that gets the battery the proper volts and amps as your current charger is ??????

Does anybody knows why it is switching off while heating?

I had the same problem with mine. I emailed Minivap support and had it sent in for service. Their customer support is excellent and the repair was covered under warranty. If you live in North America Sticks is the man that fixes them.
My MV runs performs perfectly after it was serviced.
Hope this helps

Were you charging it with the original charger?
I can buy one generic charger but don't know if it's going to work

Yes, I was using original charger but also the AC adapter most of the time. My issues were related to firmware, Sticks updated it and has the MV has been fine since. Stick with the original MV charger as using a generic may void your warranty.

cheers!

It has no warranty, unit is from 2013. Been charging it at 16 and 18v and I got a blue light from battery, but continues switching off while heating

Are you trying to reach red temperature from a cold start? That could be the reason. It takes more than the idle switch off time set (5 minutes) so the unit turns off. IIRC you can start again the unit and reach the desired temperature otherwise you have to get it updated. It was a pretty common issue.

Does anybody knows why it is switching off while heating?

I'm trying to reach blue temperature, but it takes about 30-40 seconds to turn off. Light from battery goes red and suddenly it's off. If I do several times the MV takes temperature (in hand it's hot) but the light never gets solid, always blinking for 30-40 seconds then battery light turns red and then off

How have you been using it if was broken?
Wasn't effectively vaporizing. Switched back to my Teflon and it's better decarb. Just mailed the quick core back today. I'll upgrade the Teflon to a quick core when that gets back. Quick core is amazing.
Maybe I should try another vaporizer...

You probably should buy a different vape, you don't wanna end up with a house full of MiniVaps.
That's probably not a bad thing but when you're vaping using a bunch of different vaporizers can really add to the experience.
My favourite vape to use is the Sublimator but as you probably know different vaporisers give different effects even using the same strain, so it can be fun to switch it up & use a different vape. If you buy another brand to try something different it doesn't mean the Minivap won't still be your favourite.

Anyway I'm just popping in to give some more feedback on the MV.

I really like the signature of the MiniVap it's very pleasing.
I'm thinking this might be the most powerful battery operated portable I've tried.
To me it's more like a desktop in the way that it loves a good heat soaking, doesn't mind being left on & you'll never fit it in your pocket
The battery stays cold but the heater section gets slightly warm after a while & that's when it works best.

I've had it long enough to decide it's a keeper & I've ordered a bunch of accessories from MV including the power adapter decarb kit & WTA.
It was all pretty cheap & I wasn't charged shipping, even got some tracking it's just in Spanish.

I'm still using it with my Lotus WPA through water & for direct draw I'm still packing the chamber with small basket screen on top.
When I'm after big hits I'll use the WPA then cycle though some heat ups. At about 15 minutes it's really to pump out the vapour. That's faster than most of my plugins & I'm getting huge smooth hits.
Direct draw seems to have a completely different effect on me so I'm using that often as well. It's more of a session vape that way but still very enjoyable.
In contrast to when I first started using it I've been getting some very dark AVB & I think that's maybe due the longer heat up times I've been doing.
Very happy with the Minivap, loving it's smooth vapour, it's versatility, solid battery life, ease of cleaning & impressive vapour production.

miniVAP owners who also have the Herbalizer....... tip for you

If you use both miniVAP and Herbalizer, and have the Delta 3D Studio SONG on your miniVAP:
With the Flexicone in the mV cover and the Delta 3D Song attached, that unit will work in the Herbalizer bowl (bottom half of bowl only) for eazy peazy hydratube use with Herbie.

I use both as daily drivers and often move between. For example, I might turn both on and use Herbie while mV warms up and then move to mV---2 seconds operation. Then later when nearly all extracted in mV, move back to Herbie for 445 finish with fan assist. All are with hydratube, of course :)

For me, they make an amazing combo.

Hello minivapers!

I've had the minivap for a month and a half more or less and all I can say is good things when vaping flowers. My experience is that I get reaaally tasty vapor on blue temp and loading the herb directly in the vape using the little basket as a filter. Also extracts really well all the active compounds when you increase the temperature.

With concentrates I can't say the same. I've tried kief and bubble hash on the basket and I could taste it a bit, but not like flowers. I've also tried BHO on the concentrate pad, but I couldn't get any cloud and any taste. Some days ago I tried vaping some budder. I put the same amount in the firefly 2 and in the minivap. With the firefly I got a really nice first cloud and 3 more clouds less intense. With the minivap I couldn't get any cloud at any temperature setting (I started blue and I raised it to red). Anyone has had better experiences with the minivap and concentrates? What settings do you use?

Thanks so much!

For Kief, I sandwich it inbetween budd. break it up real fine, get it in the bud, I start at a low temp and slowly raise.

Generally, I always start at above blue. Really I rarely use blue, it's good for flavor though. Personally, I need hits quick. For kief(mixed with bud), I'll start at blurple, then green, then red to finish. For bud, I usually just green red but sometimes I'll use blurple.

Shit... I start and finish on red. Its an awesome ride.

Re concentrates, IMO Minivap is a powerhouse for flowers but I don't even use it for concentrates anymore.

It does not provide me with the punch in the face I am looking for with oil.

Great, thanks abcd5432 and FlyingLow! I bought my minivap from a particular and I didn't know if something was wrong with it.

Maybe with the decarboxilation kit would work better with concentrates. Has anyone tried it?

The minivap doesn't get to high enough temps to give you a dab like experience. It will be a wispy, slow building session that will still get you there, but it will take longer and be safer (low temp vs high temp). It won't mater how you configure it since it never gets above 450F. fwiw, I never use my mv with concentrates.

I use my MV with concentrates all the time and it works great. Next time I have some I'll make a video, it can definitely be a dab like experience if you've got the lungs for it. (Obviously not instantly thick vapor like a dab, but massive clouds and super super potent.)

Still using mine daily.

Do not have experience using concentrates in it, having an enail close by all the time...

Still amazed at this machine. It has been around for a long time, and now with the faster heat up times I do not understand it is not more talked about here.

The flavor to me is still above and beyond anything I tried (and I owned a cloud +), and the clouds are there too.

Then there is the absurdly long battery life...

Maybe a smaller battery making it more portable would be a plus... I mean, even half the battery life would go a long long way
