Oh man don't tell me you most start to offer bent stems soon?! Would love that, one that can take rbt screens just like the stock long stem, only with the tip bent just like that (or even further, perhaps starting the bend lower?)
These are in the works. This is a prototype. Issue is screens. If you are using a TopHat, then it is not an issue, but neither the RBT screen nor the DDave rimmed screen work in these because the ID is too wide. DDave's rimmed screens fall right out. I could probably rig an RBT screen to work with a little manipulation. The saving grace will be if RBTs new design is viable with a screen with mesh rim.
Time will tell.

Like that?
Yep. Even when I had OGB make me a long 8" + stem (scene elsewhere in this thread) for my UFO to keep it further from my face I had him use a US joint, and I HAVE used it with both my Mi and my Zi. It's just kind of overwhelming at 8" tho...

Ah dang, yeah I have a few custom mesh rim screens from RBT though they are shallower than eaht production ones would be, I'm not so into the rims (not a fan of the metal rim baskets either) and still order regular RBT screen in the joint (just enough for a cm or two glass rim) to everything else I have tried... Bent stems are tricky bc how would you get it out even if it fit, but I look forward to seeing what comes of this and will hopefully get to try for myself some day. Who knows maybe this will be where I experience s tophat finally too

u mean like with a SB Maxx mp? I do that using the M2M adapter, I didn't love the set up but I don't remember why:uhoh:

Ah more Solo style, but yeah I want to try that one. Unfortunately male to males adapters I have are not as good as regular stems either screen wise... We'll see what future holds

I'm gunna have to send in my v1 Milaana for repairs eventually. Female is getting loose. Still very usable, causes no issues, but one of these days it'll be out. I think the issue was that I often left it in my car (without the battery) for weeks on end. It gets up to 130 degrees in the car in the sun in my state.

It's ok. I never use this one anyway. It's a great unit tho. It runs so hot that I can get up to about 8 seshes per battery .. its nuts! But she's been on the sidelines watching the spalted for months now.

I've used various glass that can have the same issue with screens (ID of GonG being a bit too wide). The trick to having them work well is stretching the WHOLE SCREEN out, not just flaring the sides wider. Flaring the sides will work for a load or two, but starts slipping in glass pretty quickly IME.

Find a dowel or some type of cylinder that has a bit wider of a diameter of what screen will easily slide all the way on to. Then force screen all the way down on it until the end of dowel hits inside of flat part of screen. Squeeze/crimp sides of screen to dowel using regular slip-joint pliers. Tap end on something hard (solid piece of wood at least, work bench, truck bumper, whatever!) while holding with pliers to reshape, or use a small hammer to reshape around dowel. I used to mess with small hose clips while doing this. It is much easier to hold on to everything and does a bit better of a job, but not too hard at all just holding with pliers. If you're having difficulty, a set of channel locks makes it even easier.

Thanks for the great write up!
Thanks, you're welcome.

It will only get better with practice. Think most find bigger clouds possible after getting a better handle on it, too. I know I did!
I hit the Milaana a few more times and I still love it. The clouds got bigger, but the results vary and are not consistent for me. Also, the clouds are definitely not as big as with the Sticky Brick Maxx. Maybe butane vapes just hit harder? Or I need to practice more. I love the Mi anyway. The taste is so very good!

Screens go in easily if using in "basket" mode.

So when you say "basket" mode you mean this?

35b6uxz.jpg

Just use a chopstick or pencil to push the old one out, and the sane to push the new one in.
Well there was no screen in the stem, they're brand-new.
But yes, I used 4 chopsticks. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
@vapenerd Enjoy the learning curve. It will become second nature to pull huge clouds... a bit more button time, adapt the draw., not too fast but steady with a good suction ;) let go of the button, pull the residual heat and slightly increase towards the end and.. BADABING BADABOOOOOOOM! :D
Haha, good advice, but not there yet. I'll keep practicing!

Since you are in Switzerland you should look up @funkyjunky who is in also in Switzerland and makes the amazing Tubo-Evic.

given a choice I almost always grab the Tubo over the Milaana or any other vapes.
Yes, the Tubo looks great! Same for the Vapman which is Swiss made as well.

I do have the MFLB, Solo, Mighty, Milaana, SB Maxx, Vapcap M and Omnivap Ti already. Damn VAS!

That is dome style. Basket is it opens up to you.
Oh, I see. So I used the short stem basket style and the long stem dome style. Didn't notice a difference.

Anyway, I'll switch the long stem screen. It's easy to do.

Edit: Oh... my... I did it! Just hit the Mi one more time and got reeaaally nice clouds.

This video helped:

I put the stem deeper in my mouth (lol) and changed suction. I also pressed the button longer. The reason I never really did that before is because I combusted once and the vapour got very hot. So I thought it's not a good idea to press the button that long. This time it worked flawlessly. Wow! :D

So why did it not combust this time? Weird. Same grind, same bud, same everything. Suction?

Yeah man its all airflow, so just keep at, truth is nothing can quite match the pure flame heated convection signature you get with a Brick, but this tech here can come the closest in my experience if you perfect your technique. This is still my favorite way to vape, can't wait for my new Milaana once Zion is finally all set

You're getting there! As with so many vapes, it's easy to get it going and get some vapor. Practice will make it better, though. Learn what you can from here and add your own tweaks and techniques, and you'll be there in no time!

I like the wood stems from Alan the best. Even the glass shorty is very good once you get the hang of it.

Out of boredom I tried out a new system from the great 'Pipes Project' mod using his coil and an 18mm female I had lying around.

I thought I would try a tcr adjustable device.
In the end I am just using my Mi.
you are the tcr...

Although the mod and amber joint looks fantastic the heater tech that Ryan uses in the Milaana is great imo.

There is something about it that just heats so gently and evenly and keeps the flavor almost till the end.

The first lady of vapes :luv:

Just a button switch and mesh heater. Not much to fiddle with or ever go wrong.

I don't think there is anything better than RBT's already classic devices. :2c:

Wood is good............

Busted my mi and long (I guess medium technically) stem out (first time ever using the long stem) and man... I forgot how awesome this thing was.

The flavor is seriously unreal til the very very end.

Absolutely massive clouds as well. The biggest producer of any vapes I own.

Glass short stem is a bit too harsh for me and my sensitive throat, and I can't get as big of clouds with the wood short stems but I like those better for convenience.

I love this thing. In all honesty, it's what fully converted me. Last October I was looking to fully switch and my Flowermate Mini wasn't doing it so I got this and never looked back.

do not know what I am doing wrong... I can not get big clouds and the taste is not bad but I have vapes where the taste at the first hit is much stronger (e.g. gh)

maybe my unit is running cooler I also can not combust with the mi also when I am pushing the button all the time for 20 sec. (maybe due to hotspot a little spot will be a littlr bit chared thats it) ... the reason I telling this is because I have heard it is easy to combust with the mi... maybe it is the turbulator... what is the turbulator exactly... have read it should avoid hot spots...

I will practise more...

I just ride the heat. If you have to press for that long, sounds odd.

With the short stem I pull slow and feather the button to avoid getting it too hot, otherwise I have to stop or I'll end up coughing due to dry/harshness.

With the long stem I kinda just go to town. I let it heat for at least 5s before I start pulling and then just regulate using my drawspeed. I can usually keep the button pressed for my entire pull with a long stem.

I use my screens bucket style and only suck enough herb to fill the screen, pretty much. Maybe a hair more.

edit:

pulling too fast will give you a centered, narrow hot-spot. with the long stem, even if i'm on the trigger for a while, i can kinda just chill. i got the lighting right and was watching the vapor stream up my emerald stem in the afternoon light shining in thru my kitchen... really neat. i used it the rest of the day and will probably be using it tomorrow as well. i haven't used it all too much.

my custom was built mid january 2017 and has no tubulator.

stirring, rotation, or unloading into hand and sucking it back up (caveman stirring - but works particularly great since I can see if the load is spent or not) is necessary for full extraction but meh. huge clouds and taste til the end and very smooth with the medium stem.

Where is your screen in the joint? Sorry you are having issues. I wonder if your screen is placed too far into the joint whereas it is optimal closer to the end. Try pushing it in from the mouthpiece end with a chopstick or dowel towards the end the of the joint. You should only have a mm or two of glass before the screen begins. Let me know how it works out!

Do you have access to a multi meter? Its a bit tricky to hold its probes just right and press the trigger to get a reading... Then subract the resistance of the probe leads and you should have something close to the heater resistance
Now all you need the know is what it is supposed to be :sherlock:
Afraid I cant help you there apart from saying I think mine is 0.6 ohms but it was measured a while ago and I had been using Mi at the time so could have been 0.8  I will measure again tomorrow and report.
If if yours is around the same figure then we know the unit is working how it should and it is technique, if it is way off then we know something is wrong with the unit...

This. ^^^

In my experience, moving the load up into the stem even a small distance drastically reduces vapour production. The load should be level with the rim of the mouthpiece and not tightly packed.

Doesn't the load fall into the big chamber anyway when you insert the stem? Or at least some of it? Especially when you grind fine and pack lightly. So what difference does it make where the screen is?
