This is actually the first I'm hearing of anyone experiencing any difference in performance based on battery direction. As Kero said, the only reason it says negative up is to protect battery wrapping. The MVT however is a different story
IME @flotntoke's take on the battery direction is correct. Anytime my battery goes in with the + up performance will be drastically poorer. The first time I did this I thought I must have used a drained battery and when I put it back in to the charger it reads fully charged. Upon re-insertion with the + down performance was back to normal.

@btka is it all good? I'm sorry man, I know u had that hold up with customs too, hope everything is resolved now with the unit. It's such a great vape once you get to know it, enjoy!

My buddy PP(@phattpiggie) will only put positive side down just because if for any reason the battery has a problem and starts to vent it won't be pointed right next to your face. So it's only for precautionary type deal. Not a bad idea really.

Oh yea. I'm glad your Mi is running now @btka. It's a fun vaporizer to play with and to get acquainted with. Good luck nd I hope you have fun with it.

..on mine I have to be careful with too much heat...especially is battery is recently charged...
mine is the opposite... I preheat for 10 sec and do not release the button for another 15 sec. when inhaling... no black spots not combusting...

I do not know why it works sometimes and sometimes not ...

I am already wrecked ;) but have to play more with my mi... you know....

Just glad to hear you got it going! Practice makes perfect - or at least much better. Of course, practice also makes stoned in cases like this!

@btka apologies on chiming in late here. After two or three sessions, be sure to get a fresh battery in there. Sounds like things are moving along, I do find that the power buttons sometimes need some break-in and you'll get the feel for it. Keep us in the loop, as you are looped and looping some more

ok now it seems to work... in my opinion I had problems with the button at first...
totaly speculating but it seems my mi is running cooler than @turk s...
I pre heat for 8 to 10 sec. and then pull on my mi for 10 to 15 sec. without releasing the button... I think my mi is not able to combust...

Also I have the short stem and to be honest I hoped the vapor of mi would not be harsh on my throat but it is (similar to the grasshopper native) and this is maybe hindering me getting huge clouds....
maybe I will order a longer stem... but then it will not be very stealth...
thought I could use the mi as my go to portable, because my gh is native on setting 5 harsh to my throat... but it is the same with the mi...
Now I am trying to puff on it like a cigar (a little bit better regarding harsheness)...

tastewise I find my gh and stickybricks maxx more tasty for the first pull(s) (more concentrated).. but maybe it is my error...

But the vape signature is very nice and it seems to be an efficient vape... have to experiment more in the name of science...

Pulling slower will help with the heat. Like .. slow slow. Also, a longer mouthpiece doesn't always help. For me, the problem is the wide open mouthpiece. Get a ddave stem with the skinnier tip and you don't feel like you're sucking on a hair dryer.

Any negative I've found with this vape I was able to mitigate through various draw techniques or mods. No worries, you'll find the smoothness. It's there.

I do not know why it works sometimes and sometimes not ...
I had this problem. Make sure lid is tight tight every time, as well as pushing the button down hard enough. Eventually everything broke in and never happened again after the first week.

Don't forget he has a clean screen, brand new.

My recommendation: when screen is super clean, tamp the load slightly more AND restrain your draw speed. Start slow and accelerate once you release the button.

And keep in mind you can keep drawing for several seconds when you release the button and it produces vapor. During that phase the heat goes down, not up, so the vapor gets smoother.

I don't think there are any "cold" units released anymore, the QA was improved.

Yeah AJS got it as usual, don't draw like you would on a GH or Brick, slow steady puffs and then speed up later in the hit. That would explain why you werent getting enough heat consistently before either. It should definitely be smoother than a Grasshopper and imo much tastier too. Practice practice practice, still early

It won't be very stealthy, but a curved or bent stem may reduce the heat a bit by the glass absorbing it. It won't be huge, but it is noticeable. When I use a bent stem it gets warm, and that is heat not getting to my lungs. Just an option...

A bent stem does require more cleaning tho.

No worries there, your opinion mirrored my own when I first got the Mi. After a week or 2 of practice you'll realize u don't need to keep the button pressed so long, like everyone says U'll learn to surf the residual heat with the button released. Once I got the technique down there was no reason at all for me to grab the hopper unless it's to go out. The flavor is far superior to the hopper and way more fun to operate too

yes thanks slow pull works much better... --> bigger clouds ... smoother vapor...

I still have to experiment...

you are right... I have to practice more but the slow pull hint helped a lot... as I mostly used my gh and stickbrick maxx for the most time... I have forgotten to pull slow... like with my e-nano... I like this...

BTW how much herb are you using... I have turned the basket screen the other way around (e-nano style ;) ) ... my basket screen is psotioned in the middle of the male part of the stem...

one thing which I like a lot with this vape is it seems to be very efficient like my e-nano ( a log vape)...
where as my gh and stickybricks are not very efficient... I did use a lot more herb then with my e-nano with the gh and sb maxx...

...you can put in as much or as little as you want...try it with concentrates with hemp...very...very...good.

will do...

now testing a herb and kief sandwich...

but I think I can not combust with my mi that is good... do my version has the turbolator? it is one of the last batches I think...

Yeah you should have turbulator which is supposed to help prevent scorching risks. If you can still get dark avb full extraction then it seems to be working! And a fresh battery should give you enough heat for concentrates too

For the regular mi user it's easy to forget things. ;) Like the learning curve with filling the stem. The 18mm is not for the timid. It's hefty. You gotta be sure to get enough material in there to allow the system to do it's thing properly. It wasn't intuitive to me, mainly because I'm not used to operating with that much material. I packed bowls with too little material and was wondering why I wasn't getting that renowned mi performance. I figured things out, but it wasn't automatic. Soon after, I realized a 14mm stem is a real good (perhaps easier learning curve?) option too.

Was always pretty easy for me. I suck fill my stems and I don't pack it down, just level it off. A standard SLX ground RBT screenful right to the edge is between .03 and .06g depending on the material and dryness. Doesn't seem like that much, buts its enough that I rarely need more than one at a go and sometimes not a full one. Way better than my combusting days.

Admittedly I am getting top shelf these days. Mexican would be a whole different thing.
