What's your favorite torch or lighter to use with the Vapcap?

How does it work on the Lotus? Im currently using my Honest torch on that too, sometimes i get 0 clouds but great taste, and then visible clouds but not as much taste

It works great! It is the best torch I have ever used (small sample size though). The torch is very comfortable to hold and the flame is nice and compact, if that makes sense.

The Jobon was made for the Lotus imo. It also has a sneaky large tank in a small profile lighter. I really love using it with the Lotus and its the only torch I use with that device now.

This 'type' of triple pyramid lighter because the brand is irrelevant works way better than I expected first time at bat. Mine says CHUNFA. But looks like several other chinese brands. It clicks open and the triple jet action fires up. Notice the surface area at the base is all blue flame due to all three firing close together. Had to have a pyramid triple in my collection. It might be the fav if I use less butane.

It does seem to heat the whole cap more evenly is what I'm guessing. :hmm: But any second after the click is even that much closer to combustion.

The click can sound different also. More like a pop than a click. I do believe it heats more surface with less turning and might even end up needing less butane per click. 3/4 of it is getting direct flame the way I hold it at 45 degrees.

I don't need to put in as much effort getting a draw either. No watery hits. Much drier category and fast. :) Had to try to order this triple pyramid through ebay twice, but now there are 5pks of these available.

This some bitch is still going strong for me and it's been 1-2 years now. Of course, with these lighters you can get a good one as well as a shitty one any day of the week.

Works well with my Vapcap.

It can seem like a luck of the draw with certain caliber of lighters how they fare. Sometimes good butane can make a bum lighter work better.

I don't buy from amazon myself, but there are reviews for several of the lighters that have been mentioned in this thread for those willing to research.
Oh look a Triple Pyramid Vertigo. Unlike the one Dynavap offers. Somebody should buy that one and review it here. :sherlock: My Dynavap spider sense tells me this one might be an FC fave.

Good news is I have one on the way. I can let you all know how I feel later next week hopefully!

Ruined my triple that DV sells the other day and had to toss it and this seemed like a suitable replacement.

I'm using a single torch (like I'd use for SBJr etc) atm and while I do think the temp holds a bit better, it doesn't have the oomph of the triple I'm used to.

I'd like to find a decent double torch, just to try but haven't found anything suitable yet.

Looking forward to hearing back. Here is there site I found.
The Official Home Page for the Lotus Group. Lotus, Black Label & Vertigo Smoking Accessories.
I have that exact lighter except it says honest on it instead of vertigo. It's supposed to have three flames but one jet has never worked right or at all, so it has always been a somewhat sucky double-flame lighter.
Honest might be made in Malaysia. Could not find any type of direct company info. Did find the Lotus group which makes Vertigo lighters.
The Lotus Group about us, Lotus, Vertigo and Black Label Smoking Accessories Contact info is based in Florida if that leads to anything. :sherlock: This is looking more like a mystery to be solved. Shaggy.

Vertigo seems more established than Honest. To be honest. :D ... Only by the number of cigar shops online that promote selling them. I am becoming more aware of the Asian market buying parts from different sources and buying replacements for the next run from another source as an example. So that might be in the mix in some manner. :shrug:Or go with the straight line theory. They were built in the same factory and shipped by 'Honest' to other markets where a brand has a different uhmmm :hmm: interpretation.

@grokit Have you tried bleeding the torch and putting high test butane in it? Then turn the throttle up and do a burn off? Who know what they fill it with. The Comey's Platinum that I got locally helped me correct a newbie mistake of putting Ronson butane in a quality torch.

@CuckFumbustion , I, too, am partial to a triangular flame. I ordered the Vertigo quad from dynavap, but it's way too heat intensive. And I tried Vertigo's dual flame sold by dynavap, but wasn't wowed by it. The lighter pic you posted looks like the one I just ordered, but branded Hong Jing, & looks, from the pics at least, that it has a thumb-less flame lock. We shall see when it arrives. Buy-it-now price $6.

This is the triangle I had gotten & it's fabulous, but doesn't have a lock. I have large hands for a woman so I know it is a comfortable size for a man's hand. BIN price $6.50. I love it, just wish it had the lock.

And I just bought this one because it was a torch with a lock: (Got the impression I like locks!:p)

So the only flame style remaining for me to experience will be the Vertigo 3-inline.

As I said prior, I really like the Vertigo inline triple the most out of all I've tried and I own a LOT of torch lighters, including a triple in a cluster model. But the inline is as accurate as a single only much faster than one. My ritual is pretty much all the same... heat near the base of the bowl for the first hit with that full moisture flower. Then move to the middle of the cap for the 2nd heating, then usually the material is dry enough for a perfect heating up near the tip. Not saying it's right or better than anything else, but it's what I found works for me!

I've been mostly using a True Utility single flame butane lighter with my M, which I like because it's simple and the stainless steel matches the aesthetic of the M. However my thumb gets uncomfortably hot after about 10 - 15 seconds of heating, so I'm considering a different model. Any suggestions on other simple single flame metal lighters that are less likely to heat my thumb?

This is my favorite. It measures 82mm x 16mm x 12mm. With a little effort you can fashion the stash compartment of the Dynastash to accommodate it. It also fits perfectly in the Vapcap pouch.

Best of all, it won't heat up your figgies. It ignites by turning on the fuel and creating a spark with the flint wheel. From there you can hold the lighter as you wish. Turn off the fuel. It has a fuel window.

I bought mine from eBay. I ended up getting 5. They have a small tank and I rotate through them and then fill them all up when empty. It's a nice lighter perfectly suited to the Vapcap.

So my dual torch clipper style lighter arrived recently, I got it in silver to match my m and grinder (the family is looking pretty sleek now!), this thing has some decent weight to it (due to the top being made of metal) and is a nice size in the hand, the jets fire nicely and produce tall strong flames, the flame adjustment wheel on the bottom can be turned with a fingernail easily enough (which was a nice surprise), the fuel window provides an easy view of how much gas you have (mine arrived in the post filled! :mental:), the flint removes easily just like a clipper's does and provides a handy pokey to tamp weed into the tip of the vapcap.

The only complaints I have are that it's not made completely out of metal (which would be awesome!), the flint and gas button mechanism rattle and compress a couple of mm, and the metal top can get hot after continued reheatings.

Would I recommend it? Yes
Would I buy it again if I lost it? Yes

Update on the double jet zico clipped style lighter.

The o ring holding the flint in the body of the lighter unit broke, I've replaced it with some high temp 3mmx1mm o rings that I found on eBay; which surprised me as I didn't think I'd be able to source some that small in a reasonable quantity.

I should have gotten them in 1.5mm thickness though as they are very slightly too small.

I still like the lighter but it does get very hot after consecutive heatings of the vapcap m.

I'd still recommend it but I am going to be looking to get another lighter. Possibly a triple and a single to experiment with different heating methods.

Has anyone used either of these?:

Decided to give one of there a try with my M based on @Squiby's advice of tea candles and gotta say it works really well. Great for chilling in the bath with a VapCap. Holding the VapCap about 5-10mm above the flame avoids any soot buildup.

Cool, I didn't think of holding a cap above the flame to avoid soot. I have some pure beeswax candles, I'll have to try heating the vapcap with one of those :)

Let us know how it goes. Bear in mind it takes about 3-4x longer to heat the Cap but this also means the Tip is heat soaking more thoroughly so the hit is usually nice and thick.

Yep, that was about the case, worked well, but took ages. It was interesting, I did this in the bath, and because of the very high humidity in the room water droplets formed and evaporated on the cap as I was heating, which probably slowed things down a bit further. I was using a VapCap M, and the steel body was pretty hot, down to a bit past the carb, by the time it clicked. But, as ever, the click was trustworthy, and the vapor was excellent. I held the cap about 1 inch / 5 cm from the top of the flame, and it left no soot at all.

I don't expect I'll make a habit of it, though, I prefer quicker heating.

Of course I wish it had a larger tank with a window but besides that, this lighter is awesome. It goes through gas fairly fast so if this is your go to lighter you may want to have two.
If I absolutely loved the performance, I COULD live with a torch with no window OR fast gas exhaustion, but not both. Being out and about with an empty torch is not a happy occurrence.

Please, that's rediculous.
While you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, that doesn't make a different one ridiculous. Please be a little more careful with your words.

I have zero interest in owning a torch I can't determine the fuel status of. I have zero interest in refilling one every time I leave the house just to be sure it isn't too low to adequately fill the days needs. Counting on such a torch would be... ill advised.

Any torch can fail, but ALL torches run out of gas. It's critical for me to know in advance when that is going to happen. Set your own standards.

I just needed to drop a 'thumbs up' on the dual flame vertigo torch lighter I purchased from dynavap during their last amazing sale. For some strange reason it took more effort to find my groove than a quad lighter but once I found it I would have to say 'for me' a dual torch is the perfect compromise of speed and heat. Of course I wish it had a larger tank with a window but besides that, this lighter is awesome. It goes through gas fairly fast so if this is your go to lighter you may want to have two. I believe Blazer manufactures or at least sales the same great torch so I think I will pick-up the blazer version for the rotation. It is one great little torch.

Loving mine, too! This is my favorite of all DV lighter purchases, and one of my favorites over all. If it had a fuel window it would perfect IMO. Tank could be bigger too, but you're gonna run out eventually no matter how big it is and this one can usually keep me going for the whole day.

A smart person may use different torches to address different situations wouldn't you agree? No one said you can only have one torch.

If 'ridiculous' hurt your feelings I am sorry for that.

Different torches for different situations? UNQUESTIONABLY!!!! Especially true when out in public and needing a quicker heat for subtlety. Always have a solid triangle shaped triple jet on hand for such occasions.

Which reminds me.... been meaning to share this experience. Flew out of town recently and was TSA pre-check both ways. Had 5 jet lighters with me (some for different situations, but mostly to have enough juice without taking/buying a can of butane). 2 were in checked bag and 3 spread around my carry on. When I was coming home they kept putting my carry on back through the scanner. I thought it was because of my Mi (broken on trip , wrapped in tissues and in camera case). I was pretty tuned at the time, as we squeezed in a couple hours at a fun beer fest on way to airport. I told TSA yeah, that's my e-cig in the bottom. The guy on the scanner (who seemed a little new) kept putting it through. I was damned near shitting bricks remembering that I didn't clean my broken Mi female GonG. I had cleaned the stems, but never thought about the busted up Mi until now. Anyway, the more senior TSA guy opens my bag and pulls out my longest owned triple torch! It was a beast with a pretty big tank, butane sight glass, and lit 99% of the time it clicked (Scorch Torch Skyline in pic below, but all black). He said these jet lighters aren't allowed on flights. I just said OK and tried not to wince as he took it out and threw it in the trash. Felt lucky to get through with no more issue as I had 2 more jets, an M, a Ti Woody, and my broken Mi with 2 clean stems all in the same bag. I had thought you were allowed to carry 2 lighters on person or in carry-on bag. Checked since and NO jet lighters are allowed at all. The 2 that made it through were the inline triple jet from DV and a flattish dual jet Scorch.

Sorry to hear you got mugged by the TSA.

I believe you can fly with a jet lighter as long as it's stored in a DOT approved container and checked with baggage.

Problem is the TSA officers don't always know that and might take the lighter from you anyway.
