Certainly useable dry, and I consider myself to be a wuss when it comes to hot harsh vapor, though I rarely use water these days. Essence was surprisingly quite comfortable dry (similar to Noochie in that way) as you can feel the heat when you draw and adjust accordingly
@Fat Freddy Snacks said he used it dry as do I, it is actually mild. The main drawback is flavor, I haven't found the kind of flavor I get from the Touch but that may come with experience.
This isn't going to be expensive, base price under $100 for sure. Some woods may be priced higher, tulipwood is a bit more costly. I can't get snake wood in pre cut dowels so that presents extra work and it is pricey stuff to begin with.
Just sent out a couple "production units" so hopefully we will get more feedback. There have been several people who expressed interest so I may make a few and introduce them.

So I will have more info later on when I drop a video or if you guys catch me during a livestream.

But native is possible with the default stems I agree, about as harsh as the MVT in normal use can be. Maybe a little worse as its easier to get hot and inhaling more hot air at a faster rate. I have noticed how you hit can severely affect harshness.

For me, production is identical to the Sticky Brick Junior, with this not being as smooth in the long run native but definitely usable (default stem). I like this unit as its a very small bowl size versus the brick which allows for more space than I personally need. It is also easier to get a quick deep extraction versus the Brick. But the Brick wins in ease of use at moment as the Brick is harder to combust with.

Edit.

Also I can fit the Vapcap cap on the glass of my essence.

Calm Consistency
For those of you concerned about using this dry ... there are always techniques to smooth vapor. I've used plenty of harsh vapes where I've managed to mitigate the heat through various techniques. Slower pull, closed throat, more suction, different grind ... there's always a way. I've yet to find a vape that I've enjoyed too much yet said "too harsh for me to enjoy, peace", and I don't have a throat of steel or anything. Can always use hemp fiber in the stem, tiny wet towel ball, always options. Hell, I've used tiny stems in the LSV .. I've used a ddave micro stem in the lsv. If you want to vape it, there's a way for it!!

Hope everyone finds what they're looking for with this one :) :)

P.S...just saw PP up there talked about the harshness ... I'll still leave this though :)

Heads UP the audio is annoying, turn down the volume, sorry.
Did a little usage video, the stem is loaded with 100 mg Pineapple Fields. Medium fine grind (is there any standard for grinds? if not we should create one).

Here is the stem contents after those 4 hits. There is more to be had. Picture taken under a funky yellowish glowing bulb.

Music by Charlie Parker but it isn't what I wanted, it's actually annoying sorry.

That's bad ass! I'm really digging the concept of hitting it like a bowl.

Can it be used with a regular lighter?

Hi @little maggie, yes you can use the Essence with water. I made some beta m2m wood stems
n3vFp58.jpg

These are quilted maple, I am going to try some plain maple they would be less expensive to make.
See paytonpenn's post on page 1, http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/mistvape-essence.24916/#post-1143476

snacks shows his m2m from Alan, paytonpenn used a short custom connector.
The dark spot in the air inlet in this pic are some SS screens which are in the inlet to act as heat shields which help avoid combustion. When I use it as in the video, waving the torch across the inlet, I never combust. I like it a lot and have used it exclusively for the last few days.

This thing is beautiful!
I am enjoying it, and used it all night last night.
I will get some video action later hopefully.
Yes but flavor sucks, soot builds up, and its not going to extract as deep. So not as healthy but in a pinch works.
are you using a yellow flame, our regular cigarette lighter?
Soot builds up on any device that uses one (like the Ubie for example)
I have been using a torch, but I soften the flame a bit so it is not so "pin point".

I use a medium size flame at a right angle to the inlet and wave it to control the heat. When I try to point it into the inlet I tend to combust, to point it in you have to use a small flame and be careful. With the wave technique I let the flame hit the glass, you can see some yellow in the flame when it hits the glass, and angle it just a bit towards the glass. You can feel the heat and regulate accordingly.
One thing I really like is that after a couple of stirs I get a last hit with no vapor so I know I have very good extraction.
@vapen00b I just ordered some more wood, bocote, purple heart - you might need to set up a vas counseling session to steer clear of this one ;)
You will like it for sure, inexpensive, easy to use and it works great.

My comment was in response towards how a soft flame lighter works. I use a torch like in my video.

Ahh yes... I see.
I use a torch also, but I soften the flame.
After watching your video, I did a half dozen loads, using a sharper flame and aiming as you did.
I found light soot build-up also.
When I use a pointy flame like yours, if I wave the flame across opening I found no soot.
When I use the softer flame, naturally I use the waving motion also.
It was a good video.

But you'll go out with a huge smile on your face :)
I had some purple heart but one piece wasn't up to my standards so I'm not using it. When I ordered more I requested better color, usually this supplier is pretty good about quality so I'm hoping I'll get some great color this time.

Is stirring necessary for an evenly vaped bowl?
I can get an evenly appearing ABV without stirring, but with stirring and a bit of breaking up fo flakes into smaller particles exposes more unvaped ares, and gives extra hits.
The extra hits are not always needed for me, I stir about half the time, and the other half I vape more slowly and conscientiously, and feel the abv is even enough and well extracted enough.
I do recommend a stir when teaching patients about the unit.

Butane is really me least favorite way of vaping in spite of the number of butane ones I have (multiple vapcaps, daisy and lily). I use my MVP more. But I'm addicted to the beautiful wood of these and if I can use them with water I'm sold. Did I miss the order info?

Thanks. That's exactly what I was wondering...if stirring is required for total extraction..

@Wheezey in the video I stir after two hits. I find that the vapor density goes up after a stir. Generally with a 100 mg load I get two hits, stir, two more hits, stir and a couple more hits. Then even if I stir again there is no vapor to be had. I haven't tried to extract a stem without stirring. I noticed with my technique that vapor production declines without stirring unless you up the heating. The stir tool and collar make stirring easy, you barely need to look, I can do it by feel. btw I don't weigh my loads routinely but did to have some data for those interested.
@little maggie I have only made a few of these, sold two so far and will make more this week or next. I am waiting for a quote on having some of the parts made. So the $65 price is a guess on my part. As I make them I'll post that they are available and it will be first come, at this price I can't get into doing a list and tracking who is in what position. I'll probably put them on the website and announce it here.
