Hello there community!

I have X-MAX II PRO version of the device. Got a problem with the screw. Not much after 1 year of usage the threads erupted and can't stay in place. I can only use the device with 2 hands trying to make a chain (electrical). Already ordered X-MAX II PRO V2 where that problem doesn't exist and the screw threads are completely different. Thinking to buy some graphite glue for permanent fix?! Any suggestion will be appreciate.

JB weld seems to take a beating, and stands up to high temps.
I have used it many times, where the vapor path itself was not involved.

Nice shot dude!

I`m from Europe and that glue was unknown for me but I`ll give it a try!
Already ordered one. V2 is there and meeeh... they are learning from their mistakes!
The screw is perfect and from steel! Air path seems to have better flow but that can be explained with the brand new device and bigger holes in chamber. The smell was gone after 3th burnout. I also bought 3x18650 25R's xD

Which version did you get? The one with the built in charger (and usb port)? or the one without (and no mini usb port)?

I ask cause somebody mentionned the avalaibility of this last version including 2 batteries. It would be perfect for me since I never used the built in charger when I got my X-Max (now gifted to a friend).

That is how exactly it looks like.
It has mini-usb port, adapter and cable in the box.
I can make bigger side to side compare, but later on.

KZ's long overdue X-Max V2 Pro retrospective review

Disclaimer: A while ago (2015), I beta-tested the pre-production version of the X-Max V2 Pro thanks to other FC members. While I didn't pay for my unit, I have no vested interest in this company nor have I been compensated in any other way. I don't have any blog or website to generate revenue and I'm not making my living out of vape reviews.

I never published my full review of this vape in the end, and time has passed since! I'm clearly barely never using it nowadays, as I have better performing alternatives. That being said, this vaporizer does have quite a few qualities and is simple enough to be a good candidate for a first product purchase or a gift, to help someone quit combustion for instance.

It's by no means a device for an advanced "connoisseur" vaporist, taste is pretty poor, vapor path too short to provide adequate cooling. But it produces average vapor quantity with little effort, has usable temperature settings and is easy to use.

I'll try to compare it to two other pen-style vapes: the Herbstick Eco (middle) and the FlowerMate VT1.0 (right)

Tfkdgf5.png

The good

- Relatively cheap (but if you can get the Storm instead, you'll get better customer service and hopefully a higher standard of quality control, plus the peace of mind of being sure you are not getting a counterfeit clone, otherwise the real manufacturer is TopGreen)
- Replaceable battery, supports any 18650 Li-Ion flat-top cell having at least 15A continuous discharge (probably works with 10A cells but better have some safety margin)
- Medium good vapor production, in terms of quantity
- Not too bad looking, simple design, sober
- Easy to use, although the click sequence might be harder to understand for a novice user (especially when the damn button doesn't register clicks properly, I find the Herbstick Eco easier)
- Stealthy, doesn't attract attention, looks like a fat e-cigar
- USB charging
- Easy to clean and maintain
- Aluminum shell, light
- Ceramic oven
- Air path looks relatively isolated (but I didn't dismantle my unit to verify)
- My unit had absolutely no factory smell but contrary to some pictures posted earlier it doesn't appear to have the polyimide insulation tape around the heater, which is well known to be responsible for the "robot fart" smell of these Chinese vapes (both the VT1.0 and Herbstick Eco required a lot of burn-ins)

The meh

- Heat-up time is average with stock cell, improves when using better cells
- Stock cell was rather crap in mine, but I read it improved since (to be verified)
- LEDs are a bit small and sometimes hard to see, I prefer the Herbstick Eco single multi-color LED
- The color progression of the LEDs vs temperature is backwards (red is lowest setting etc) but works for battery gauge display (red is lowest charge)
- The top section of the unit above the heater is plastic (it's metal in the Herbstick Eco and VT1.0)
- Temperature settings are ok, although I wish the first one was slightly lower but no big deal, the two last ones are too hot for my liking

The bad

- The taste is pretty poor, becomes bland after a couple of hits
- Vapor path is way too short to provide any form of cooling
- Stock silicone mouthpiece is pretty bad, definitely make sure to get the glass one
- The bottom part has not enough venting holes, especially with the positive of the cell (where it vents from) facing upwards away from the holes, as demonstrated by the e-cig community, this is a real hazard and can create a pipe-bomb if the cell was to vent (if you hear the device hiss, don't hesitate a single second and throw it away!)
- Device gets pretty hot during operation, try to keep the sessions under 15 minutes continuous or less if you use the highest temperature settings, otherwise it's not good for your battery cell longevity

Hello. Yesterday, I got the Xmax V2 pro that i was waiting since three weeks. I tried to charge for some hours, but it is always out of power... I press the power button three times, three light turn on and, then, only the white light of the high temperature stays and I can't select another temperature (if the vaporizer is under charge, otherwise the white light turn off) ... if I press the power button again, the red light of the low temperature flash for a few seconds and the vaporizer turn off... How can I resolve?

The red light means the battery is to low to heat the device. You can try to :
- remove the battery and put it back
- try another micro-usb charger
- try an external battery charger
- try another 18650 battery

Sounds like you are not charging the battery fully. Many batteries can take upwards of 6 hours to fully charge. The red light when you turn it on means battery is too low. Battery level is shown when you first turn on device by usie of colored LED's. White(bottom) is fully charged, Red(top) is low battery. Other colors in between show depletion level.

Did you purchase your X-max directly from topgreen ? If not i think you might have gotten a lemon. A local headshop is selling these and people are plagued by this issue. Battery shows its full but when you attempt to switch on, it blinks red. Reinserting the battery and also try to push up the spring at the bottom of the battery chamber with a toothpick from the tiny hole below,i suspect that the reason is bad connection(also you can wipe battery connections and the pin on the top part (heating chamber) or maybe it is something totally different but this is known issue to me and few other people,it is very annoying especially on the older version that required a lot of clicks to get it going.
Btw on the ones sold locally there is a neardark.de on the bottom of the package.

I'm going to revive this thread, as I just purchased one after helpful people at PIU told me it might be better suited to me than the CFX or Viviant Alternate (sold me a less expensive product that would be more satisfying to me, the customer. That's good service).
So my general understanding is that this is a decent portable vape that'll produce some vapor without breaking the bank?
I ordered the glass mouthpiece as well, I did my research on that.....
Any tips, tricks, etc? I don't need super large clouds but decent visible vapor is a big thing to me.....

Thank you fellow vapers

The V2 is a great portable vape. The glass mouthpiece will only improve the flavor. I usually do a lightly packed full chamber. I tend to start on the second heat setting, & increase to the third after cloud s start to get thin. I rarely have to go past the middle setting. Flavor is great with this vape. Get a better better for longer sessions. I personally recommend the brown LG hg2.
Also, I opted for the glass water pipe adapter for my glass mouthpiece. I eventually purchased a glass water pipe to pair with it. Vapor is amazing.

Awesome to hear. You get clouds on setting 2?
I have waterpipes I use with enails and the Flowerpot, I very well may incorporate them into the usage with this, but more often than not this will be my travel companion vape or my quick session go-to choice......assuming I can get it cloudy.
How long has yours been going for?

Quick review - Wow!
I've owned a solo, two mflbs, an arizer air, a pinnacle pro, and the original iolite in like 2012.

The pinnacle was closest, but this is the best hitting vape I've ever had. The ease of use and the instant vapor production was uncanny. I did one burn off, threw on the glass mp, and then loaded it up with grounded strawberry headband......
Holy crap. Such an effective device. Very even browning of herb, started on setting 3 then ramped up.

I still have to try the vapcap m, but I think if that works as expected I've found my go-tos for portable and at-home (flowerpot, xmax, vapcap).

I'm going to sell my Arizer Air and my Da Buddah now. My best vape purchases ever have been made in the last week.

Edit: I can't comment on durability, but for 59 bucks shipped from PIU, and considering its under warranty for a year, I'm not too worried. Worse comes to worse if something goes wrong, piu ships me another and I'm back at it quick

Bought this vaporizer and I am overall very pleased however I have a couple of questions.
For vaping hash I have tried to use the concentrate cup without success, packing it in a herb sandwich inside the normal chamber works ok but the herb is done long before and it gets messy.

Then I removed the wick thingy in the concentrate cup and threw it in directly on the bottom. This worked better but Still not sure if it is the right way to go. You can see the hash bubbling/melting in the end leaving a black goo.
I get no visible vapor but lot of taste and it seem to give a Good Buzz.
Is this ok to do or am I wasting material since the cup is closed? Is it safe? Is the wick essential? And can I reuse the goo?

Thanks

It is difficult to re-use goo that is reduced during cooking in a cylinder like that but it is done.
soak the cylinder over night in 91% Iso, and in morning scub walls and bottom with q tip ...or even a qtip with very fine steel wool around the tip (000 or 0000)

Vitolo,
Hi. I bought this vape around a week ago. I've only used it a few times.

My first important question is: Did any of you guys have a problem with the mouthpiece over-heating? I mean after the chamber has heated I take my first blast and the mouthpiece just feels uncomfortably hot and almost feels like it's burning my lips. It doesn't get any cooler during subsequent inhales

I'm wondering if this is a known common design flaw or perhaps I have a faulty vape?
Would buying a bubble or glass mouthpiece reduce the over-heating problem? Thanks.

I have this vape & use the glass water pipe adapter as my mouthpiece. It definitely helps with the hot vapor. What temp are you running at? I usually start with #3 392 degrees, and only move up to #4 410 for the last couple of hits. fwiw, I have never used the stock mouthpiece. The Xmax pro with a glass bong is amazing.

I used it on the middle temperature (no.3), but as I said, it was still too hot. So wouldn't want to try at an even higher temp - which kind of makes this vape a big no no unless I can correct the problem. I actually put the vape on the highest temp and saw 'smoke' coming out of the mouthpiece - so the top temp seemingly fried my dry herb.

Which mouthpiece do you have? I've seen a bubbler and also a 'normal' glass mouthpiece.
I think the main problem with this vape is that the heating chamber is too near the mouthpiece so the vapour can't cool down and also the heat conduction just moves up the mouthpiece - hopefully a longer mouthpiece can sort this problem out.

Just for info I also have the V2 Pro version.

I preferred to use it with the mini-bubbler (with or without water) as it significantly cools the hot vapor. I also found the mouthpiece getting hot fast (also the glass one). The oven is very close to the mouth piece without any heat-sink in place.

Never used the last setting/428F. The other settings have never made the mouthpiece too hot to draw from for me. Hot yes....too hot to use...no. I have both the original silicon mouthpiece and the glass mouthpiece.

I've also never used the stock mouthpiece. For 10 bucks just order the glass mp/adapter. It cools the vapor and improves taste, plus it fits nicely into a 14mm female rig. I use it wet and dry, and never have an issue with heat. I also vape on settings 4 and 5 more often than not, still no heating issues.

That's a common complaint that is easily remedied with 10 bucks. I wouldn't count out such a good bang for the buck vape considering you can get the xmax 2 and the glass mp for like 70 bucks

The glass mouthpiece is a must-have since the vapor is really hot (I don't think our Xmax have a cooling unit).
And I personally don't like 356 F and 374F because they do not give visible clouds.
My favourite temp is 410F (the purple one).

About the flower mate capsules I own, did anybody try to fill them with hash?
Is it possible to use it?

Hi.

I'm currently researching where I can order extras (like the mouthpieces) for this vape from Europe - with delivery in Spain (or UK - as I'm currently there for a 2 week 'winter' holiday).

So, should I go for the bubbler or the glass mouthpiece?

Also, how about the 'bong adaptor'? LOL. I've seen you can buy all 3 for £19
