Vaporizer type that won´t make me cough so much?

Hello there,

I quit smoking because I need my voice for a lot of things and it was being affected by smoke, I used to own a Crafty, awesome vaporizer, but it made me caugh a lot.. as much as my bubbler maybe..

Now I want to buy a desktop vaporizer for around $ 200, I read Da Buddha and SSV are very potent and harsh for the throat due to the direct draw whip style. So I´m looking into the Arizer Extreme Q.

My question is, will the EQ be easier and more gentle to my thorat/lungs because of the fan that combines air with vapor and the Bag option that I guess cools the vapor a little bit?

...
Or do I need water filtration?

Thanks :)

There is a few vapes to be very smooth.... ime the best for this purpose are:

portables: Fury, ESV, Project (DIY flower atty), Prima
desktop: Log vapes, Herborizer Ti, (HerbalAire)

That's only my experience...

The Vapcap vaporizer along with a degummed hemp fiber filter using a mouthful technique produces super smooth vapor and zero lung and throat irritation.

I have a very sensitive lungs (severe chronic lifelong asthmatic) and have found that mouth pulls and degummed hemp fiber filters create a very smooth, cool, non irritating vapour.

Take a few inches of degummed hemp fiber.

Moisten one end and wind it like you are preparing to thread a needle. Place it between your thumb and index finger and wind it round and round between your two fingers to create a flat round filter.
l70Hzpn.jpg

Stuff this into the bottom of your bowl. This filter will effectively remove any tiny particles that may otherwise get through your screen and into your lungs. It also keeps your condenser surprisingly clean and clear of debris.

The mouth pull technique provides a cooler fresher vapor inhale. Dial down to a tight air restriction and cover the carb for most of the toke. Pull the vapor into your mouth without inhaling, like you would when puffing on a cigarette or cigar. Near the end of the pull, open or feather the carb to bring the last of the vapor into your mouth along with that pulse of fresh carb air, then open your mouth, remove the Vapcap and inhale the vapour and fresh air into your lungs. Exhale. Repeat.

Use a filter. Take short mouth pulls versus long tokes and incorporate fresh air.

This technique, for me, gets me where I want to be with no lung irritation. It is the smoothest, coolest vapor I have ever experienced in a vape. Because of this and all the other inherent characteristics of this ingenious device, my VAS is now only focused on Dynavap parts and accessories.

I have zero desire to try out any other vape. The Vapcap checks all my boxes and then some.

If you experience lung irritation, try this technique.

Is the degummed hemp fiber doesn't capture a lot of goodies?

I think after a few caps you can vape the hemp fiber but is there any impacts in term of taste if you re-use it?

I agree micro-dosing and low temp helps a lot (water tools also!) but we are dreaming of fat smooth clouds, isn't it?

The Fury totally impressed me in this department: thick smooth clouds!

Usin' the EQ with the balloons and the fan is almost the only way that still makes me cough.
Using water filtration will decrease throat/lungs irritation as well as cough, you can also combine fan mode and water filtration, but to really appreciate the EQ with water filtration I advise you to modify it a little, with the DDave mod or other DIY mod depending on where you live.
The Herbo TI is a good one, very smooth but no fan or balloon mode, a bit more than 200$ and you'll need a bubbler/bong with it.

Herb gardener...
I find there are a fair few variables at play here, with regards to the irritation....
It's not all down to the vape....

Quality and cure time of the flower can play a huge part in how it vapes....

As can ambient humidity....

As for the vapes
I found the eq to be rather harsh whichever way I used it...

I find the cloud evo to be far smoother, especially considering the vapour is far more plentiful and dense....
A basic package and a dhgate hydratube won't be too far off your budget...

Or a vapcap and bubbler.....
Thats as smooth as you wanna make it....

Forgotten to mention I never used the Q... I agree with the previous post, curing and strain can make a huge difference!

My underdog log vape is super smooth. As is my vapcap (ridiculous smooth), and the project.

The herbalizer is probably the most smooth (with the whip, the balloons are harsh for me), but it is pricier than what you've listed budget wise.

If you are open to a butane powered portable I would recommend starting with the vapcap. It is very economical and you can always splurge on their omnivap or omnivong which allow you to adjust your airflow, so you can produce incredibly smooth vapor with a lot of airflow or restrict your airflow and produce some incredibly dense lung busting clouds! If you don't want to rely on butane you can order up one of several models of induction heaters made by our resident genius @Pipes and you are cooking with power!

If I could only grab one of the vapes l have listed then it would probably be my omnivap. It really blows me away.

Is the "M" the same but made from stainless steel in place of titanium...?

I don't believe that the M allows come to customize the air intake. The omnivap airflow is adjusted by twisting the mouthpiece. I am not sure I can explain the air intake system but this is a super short and sweet explanation from George at dynavap.

One can mimic the airflow control by partially covering the carb on the M while inhaling. Someone clever in the dynavap thread suggested using an o-ring over the carb hole that you can slide over the carb to your preferred air/vapor ratio. I've not used the M before but I would imagine if both had titanium tips the performance would be hard to distinguish.

The new titanium tips are worth having because they allow for customized screen placement to allow for easy micro doses, which I prefer. Not necessarily because I adhere to microdosing, but because I don't mind reloading more often around the house and every hit is a green hit! There may be steel tips that are adjustable too, I believe I just purchased titanium with the belief that it heated up and cooled down quicker.

Desktops are great. Vaping in a bag really helps so long as you do not heat the vapor very high or make it extremely dense by running the fan at low speeds.

Vapir rise 2.0 will give you the best of both worlds. Whip attachment or bags. Also has a hepa filter built in to make the vapor a lot cleaner.

I am also a cougher and have COPD. I used water until recently. I have a few vapes that are very mild that I don't use with water and I rarely cough. I have the EQ and with the bag it was pretty mild but I switched to the vaporbrother box. It's much simpler and I use it on mild. But I rarely use it and mostly use portables. I have several logs which were suggested but- they need water. For desktop the EQ which does bags and whip (with Ddave mods) and the vaporbrothers are the mildest I've tried and I've tried quite a few but still not as mild as the MVT.
The 2 main vapes I use are: tubo evic with its whip; And the mildest vape so far is the MVT with a whip. I don't know if its milder because its 14mm instead of 18mm which my others are. I also always use it with a whip or I would probably need water for it and the tubo. I bought the whip for the MVT from Alan at HI but would have ordered from the tubo developer if not for the cost of shipping just whips overseas.
The vapcaps are a little harsher but not too bad as long as I don't combust.
I microdose and use the double screen method. I haven't found curing or strain to make a difference but that may be because I buy from dispensaries so they are usually cured well.

The direct draw of some our vaporizers can be considered "harsh". But lets keep that in context. I work with a fella here who coughs no matter what, anything he draws on, he coughs. We have a lot of customers who rave about our vapor tamers, along with water filters. I would think it would be safe to say that most water filters will cool down the vapor, and make it more manageable. As for a unit that has something built-in to cool down vapor? Our SideKick has a 16" vapor path, and the ability to pre-cool the chamber before use, for an even smoother draw. PM me and I can see about reducing the price for you. Good luck in your quest.

I've heard the volcano is better than the eq and is the best bag vaporizer. But isn't it expensive unless you find a used one?

As mentioned by several people in this thread, I would be really curious to find out what temperature you use? Most of us are indeed kind of addicted to large clouds. While fun at times, you don't need those at all to get high. IF you still have your Crafty, start at 315 for a couple of flavor hits (there will be little or no visible vapor). Use the dosing caps and instead of letting the herb heat up, put the filled cap in the unit only after it has heated up. You'll have real flavor hits this way and get to experience the benefits of all those terpenes. Need more: end at 345 MAX.
Also: remember that Delta studios makes an excellent water adapter for the Crafty.
Only downside is that we usually use water filtration to enable us to draw in huge clouds, not a good idea if you use your voice a lot.
I'm in the same boat as I regularly present in front of large groups of people and when I was smoking herbs, I would start to cough. With the use of vaporizers it's barely an issue, unless I get "greedy" and go for the clouds.Bag vaporizers like the Volcano, are indeed easier as compared to vaporizers where you aggressively draw in. With the Volcano I sometimes simply press a cloud of vapor out of the bag into the air and breathe it in through the nose, mixed with the surrounding air, no irritation!

You think the EQ may be harsher than Da Buddha?

I would love to get a Cloud Evo but it´s a little over my budget..

I wish I still have my crafty so I can sell it and buy a better desktop vape but I lost it.. it was a heavy hitter and I always used temps over 200 ° C..

Maybe the balloons wont make me cough that much..

I can get the Vapir Rise 2.0 for around the same price as the EQ.. they both do whips and bags, you think the Vapir has an edge over the EQ ?

I lost my Crafty but I used to start around 360 ° F and go up to 400.. I like that heavy high and big clouds.. I know that this temperature makes people caugh, I just want to have a smoother experience with my next desktop vape.. I want the Cloud EVo so bad but it´s expensive.. I do use my voice a lot, I´m a teacher and I also sing in a band..

I used to have a solo before my crafty and liked to crank it up to high temperatures, it didn´t make me cough that much like the Crafty.. I´ll look into water attachments for the EQ, though

I don't have the vapir but from reviews that compare them the eq is a bit better. I think it makes a difference with the eq to get Ddave's mods. I haven't tried it with water.
But if you liked the solo, what about the new solo? It's gotten great reviews and definitely can be used with water.

I've vaped all, the EQ, Rise 2.0 and Volcano.

The volcano is the best for obvious reasons. But I couldn't afford one. So I moved on to the EQ. Didn't like the way the bag worked. Felt it was a bit cheaper. Then I bought the Rise. It was amazing. Felt great. Had a hepa filter which was good for me. I'll explain in a minute. Bag set up a lot better and felt so much more durable especially with less glass parts.

I had a lung condition. I ripped 2 many bongs and smoked too many cigarettes. I quote vaping for 2 years before I started again which I've been back at it for 2 years now. I couldn't handle heat or harsh vapor

Just curious when you had the EQ if you tried the new bag system? I was using a whip with mine because the bags seemed a bit complicated but the new system is just plug and set. Also I looked at the vapir rise and it looks like it has lots of pieces. Is it complicated to assemble?

Yeah, I´m also checking it out.. but I´m looking more into a desktop, I have never used bags/balloons.. I want to try..

I will look up for EQ vs Vapir Rise 2.0 threads !!
