CCA Liger banger V3.0

So after 6 days of waiting, I finally heard back from CCA710. Instead of addressing my question about returning the purple Liger for the blue one I ordered, they only mentioned the dimensions. They "apologized" for the wrong color but didn't apologize for sending a different carb cap from the one on their website.

They said nothing about making it right.

My original ticket question:

"What I’d like is to have a blue 20mm Liger with the right dimensions sent out as soon as possible. Then when I receive that I can send back both purple Liger and carb cap and just get a refund for the carb cap."

CCA710 Response:

"Just talked to the owner a few minutes ago. First off we want to apologize for the Liger color. The owner has informed me the V2 and V3 ligers have never changed specs. If we changed the specs the inserts would not be swap-able. The official spec is 17.5mm (if the Riptide is shy of 18mm like you say it is its not going to work). A CNC machine holds tighter tolerances than anything hand made (especially boro/glass/quartz). Let me know if there is anything else I can help with."

Be careful, my Riptide does not fit my 20mm Liger.

I went with the 30mm Liger. Do you have a 30mm and a 20mm?

Which hurricane are you talking about? The one with the adjustable air flow is getting stuck? or the new 1 hole design?

Yea the new hurrricane cap with 1 hole and the 30mm, it's happend to me 5/6 times now since Saturday I am a constant user yet I keep my shit clean I wipe the cap after every few hit and qitp the hell outta it and have cleaned it 3 times now since sat when I got it , if my comment came off wrong my apologies, they have been working with me pretty well some missed messages due to time zone and life but , I have sent them pics and told them it seals up like it was welded shut and I had to take he whole nail off while still warm and knock the hell outta it on the table Enough to gouge a wooden table through a goo mat for it to break free, tried heat treat ISO ect nothing they stated from one of the pics the intake tube might stick out a little bit just far enough to catch the cap but if that were the case I think it would gouge the cap from me banging it and it's smooth. I'm not sure what the problem is

Can someone provide me with the inside and outside diameter for a 30mm Liger? Thought they were posted, but couldn't find the dimensions. Edit found it
I got this info from Josh last week

Specs on the Liger:

O.D. – 38mm

I.D. – 30mm

Internal Depth – 23mm

-

Specs w/ Insert installed:

Top I.D. – 30mm (for depth of 12mm)

Bottom I.D. – 25.5mm (depth of 11mm – insert)

Hope that helps

I found a glass blower on IG willing to try to make custom 30mm Liger carb caps.
Any suggestions?

I gave the glassblower the 30mm Liger dimensions posted in this thread. He said he could make a custom clear cap for (around)$50 or $70 for colored.

It would be this style low profile bubble cap built for a 30mm Liger. Anyone interested or have suggestions? I'm willing buy one and report back.

Very aesthetically pleasing. I feel like the recessed, bottlenecked design will make for great function on a beast like the 30mm. Also, I have a feeling the inner diameter of the spout on the bottom is a little wide, which could squander its potential function by being too flowy. One thing I'm not sure about is whether the tube that extends into the bucket should be at a slight angle or not. I'm also unsure of whether the length of the spout makes a difference... Either way, you've got my attention. Does this glassblower ever incorporate opal in their art?

diameter should be 38 - 40mm at the widest point.

spout should be no longer than 1-2mm

gonna have to go thru a bit of trial and error with getting the airflow just right. possible that intake hole should be a bit narrower.

So I went ahead and placed a pre-order for the new material/dab surface...obsidian insert!! I just ordered today; so it's up for sale on their site now if anyone wants one before they're sold out ;)
I can't wait to try the new material with a tier 1 polish from day 1....I'll definitely report back when I receive it. Now to start waiting patiently for the first August/September drop!

I'm in for sure. I'd order tomorrow if the design was done. I don't mind restricting the airflow with my finger a bit, as long as the spout is narrow enough to generate some pressure.

Would be nice if @mrbonsai420 could give some infos about and maybe a first review on it!?
Should be the longer announced "new ceramic" insert?

Ahh, they've deleted pics of the carb caps on their site. First step to an update to the new designs?

Put myself down for one of the 20mm obsidians, choked a bit on the price but technology right? Pretty much over the 30mm until a proper cap emerges that can get it to chug anywhere near the 20s I've tried OG Terptrunk, new terptrunk, storm cell 3 and hurricane 3, gordo riptide, local tahoe blower mille and the mobius directional and they all barely work on the 30 with the storm cell being sadly the best so far and the mobius being by far the best for the 20s (much much better than the riptide on the 20, which is prolly the second best I've found for the 20) the bubbles people are commissioning look good but I'm almost certain the final air spout needs to be way shorter for the 30mm or it'll bottom out in the dish, maybe just a straight hole with no spout neck as the bubble design will be directional even without a spout

Do we know any more about this new surface besides what is posted on the site?

I'm curious of the color. I'd hope it's white so you can see the action and not black.

Also have any beta testers used it yet and if so can you report your findings?

I like that very much and if made to fit a 20 mm Liger I would certainly sign up to buy one.

I agree that output hole on a cap needs to be kind of smallish in order to get the pressure drop we are looking for but I have also found with this type of cap that its pretty simple to feather the intake (carb hole if you will) on top with your finger (I do this a bit with the Chadbro bubble cap I have....least I think its the Chadbro...so many caps, so little memory LOL).

As far as angle, not needed in my experience...that's why its a hemisphere...the whole thing angles. I have a couple of different bubble style caps and it works very well, IMO.
