How many uses are users getting per charge? I'm just wondering if the 6 I'm getting is the norm. I'm using it starting from 360 to 405 at the end of the session.

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
Hi guys,

received my Fury just yesterday, so this is gonna be more like a FIRST IMPRESSIONS thing.
First off, customer service was perfect and helped me get thru the order promptly. Fast shipping too - very good in that aspect.
Disclaimer: Everything that follows in this post is just my personal view and not intended to attack anyone or anything. I bought this unit regularly.

Unit has a nice weight to it - but the metal body is just the shell. The rest is plastic. Mouthpiece plastic completely (and some glass tube sealed by two stinky silicone parts). Would love to see this one made of metal too.
Form factor is great. Actually, it's tiny! Super portable for on the go. Battery seems 'decent', nothing crazy good, but okay for some sessions - no all day long out and about w/o power bank for sure. Fast heatup. Nice!

The opening mechanism is a bit tough to manage initially. I was afraid of breaking anything and read thru the complete manual before applying a bit more force to detach the mouthpiece from the unit.
Build quality on my unit does not seem to be very good. Please see the pics below.. The clasp is clearly deformed and I fear it will break very soon...
tsUjUoC.jpg

that small part in the middle is stressed all the time, each time you open and close it. I had a tiny silvery particle/flake falling out of the bowl - when inspecting it I could see a scratch and some other surface damage on the heater wall...assume it's where the piece came from. Bummer... bad batch @HealthyRips.com ?
FSRrrtD.jpg

I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to taste and smell - and the first thing I noticed was a really terrible plastic smell from silicone gaskets (please see the blue one above e.g. - definitely no premium quality, look at the edges, feels and smells cheap). Reminded me of the 'elo' I once had, which was the worst thing I've ever tried in that respect (gave me headaches after usage, no joke)... If silicone smells and even tastes, it's NOT for me. I only want to taste the herbs and not some funky different stuff that can be harmful, too (in this regard I DON't trust the chinese industry in general. Please guys, invest some more and use domestic material that has been tested reliably. FDA approved stuff at least, preferrably something from the EU with stricter regulations, just my opinion!).
Until now this smell and taste has NOT disappeared - after around 4 complete burn-offs at max. temp and blowing air thru the device + 3-4 sessions in with material. Still more than a hint of that terrible plastic taste. Even removed 3 of the silicone pieces and ISOed them for a minute plus dish washer stuff... not better. I sucked thru the siliconeless mouthpiece, clearly no such taste anymore.. Thought about replacing those pieces with some DIY stuff with neutral silicone but the fact that theres at least 2 more silicone pieces in the main body (internally at the intake and above the heater, no chance to remove them) made this thought obsolete (yes, you can taste it when drawing w/o mouthpiece on)... too bad. Hope the terrible plasticky smell will dissipate completely. Otherwise I will throw this one away... It's a no-go for me. Really kills the experience.. so taste is a 6.5/10 and I can't really enjoy it knowing there's some s#!7 taste/smell off-gassing from the silicone into my body.

I know, it sounds critical - but that's the way I think and feel about it in these regards. Honestly.

So finally, I decided to give it a try - nonetheless. Loaded a tiny pinch - unground! - and it does work pretty well as a micro-dosing unit.
Went up to 195C and it came out like this (brightness is too much on this one, sorry..). Pretty nice and uniform color. Bic pen for size comparison
efNI8zz.jpg

close up of that very same load, nice extraction, no need to grind
iegyRvO.jpg

The unit has some draw resistance - not like an Air but more of a GH. The faster you wanna pull, the more you are being restricted. Physics, crazy :p Coming from wide open convection vapes, this is something different for sure, but nothing bad. I think it helps channeling the hot air stream and extraction in a way, but what do I know ;) It definitely makes some noise when drawing more than just sipping, not a bad whistling noise but clearly audible... so if you wanna go stealth, go slow.

Now to the most important aspect: pure convection (as advertised, on the box etc.) is clearly NOT happening. Please see the 2 animated gifs of some measuring I did with a temp probe...

IMB_a1NNQL.gif

and

IMB_VcaIAu.gif

These are limited time wise to 15 secs max. - so I made 2 clips to show it.
Temp was still on the rise even above 202C..
This clearly shows that there is a very good amount of conduction happening in this one. Of course, results will vary a bit when air is actually drawn thru the chamber - but your material WILL be cooked via radiation and conduction from the bowl.
My usage scenario would be starting it and begin your draw while heatin up - then take another hit while turning it off again and clear the residual heat.. That way you COULD get a decent convection happening.. But like this it's just not correct to say it's pure convection (sorry, @HealthyRips.com - this was my initial assumption and it's proven now).
To be clear: I don't wanna debate what is better etc. Can totally live with conduction or hybrid etc. I just don't like to be mislead by some advertising claims - and know for sure what I am buying. It would just be fair and transparent (and appreciated by a lot of peeps), if you would edit the description and on box claim. just my 2c.

Don't mean to bash or be unfair. This is just my experience until now based on my first sessions and some temp measuring.
I would love to get rid of that disgusting silicone thing (yeah, we had that... last time, promise) and I would like this unit VERY much.

@HealthyRips.com some ideas for improvement:
- different silicone that's not offgassing like these... (or might I have received one from a bad batch, also that scratched bowl?)
- please add a 'stealth mode' - so no lights or at least dimmable display and LEDs. This one in the movies would be a great setting... but the lights needed to be taped etc or covered by hand, which would be very unpractical. Please think about this option, should be easy to implement.
- switching from F to C and vice versa: as you need to hold the minus buttion (plus the power button) for about 2 secs, it always turns the temp down while doing so ending with low(est) temp before the unit switches to F/C. It would be nice to press the power button first and hold it and THEN the minus button to switch to F/C so the temp setting would not be affected. Also helps to understand what F corresponds to what C... Minor thing, but would be nice to just switch it and not drive the temp down automatically (the tubo and a lot of ecigs for example do it like that.)

--> Speaking of temps. On my box it says '320F - 410F. Either I have an old unit (probably from a bad batch) that can only handle 410F or there's something wrong with your precise info... Just like you are saying about sutra and Rebel?;). I think typos can happen to everyone, even when trying to be precise :)

https://i.imgur.com/iegyRvO.jpg
- please change the misleading description. It's clearly not 'pure convection'.

- not sure about the opening/lock mechanism. Unit itself looks and feels sturdy from the outside. But I'm afraid to break that particular part very soonish with just regular usage... Mine is deformed from the get go, it does the job though (I think.. it closes).

Lastly, I really dig the unit and want to like or love it.. It does the job very well and has a smooth draw, precise digital temp control with very even extraction, no need to stir or even grind, allows for micro dosing and heats up fast. Flavor could be better, battery runtime is reasonable, can't swap cells out (internal LiPo) and no pass-thru while charging (can't use it while charging). Along with its excellent portability (main body smaller in height than a regular flat top 18650! The mouthpiece tops it by a hair, but really only there ) this might be a GH killer (if there weren't... not gonna say it again). Usage is very easy and convenient - perfect for beginners, fool-proof, just turn on and take a draw.. no technique involved basically. It would certainly have it's niche in my arsenal, if... yeah, you know that! :p

Thanks for reading! :)

Hi @vapen00b Thank you for your opinion - we will address your comments here:

You expressed: “That small part in the middle is stressed all the time, each time you open and close it.”
Our answer: That is part of the mouthpiece which is easily replaceable and covered under warranty. We have tested the on/off of the mouthpiece hundreds and hundreds of times with no issues. We also sell replacements for $15 including free shipping if ever needed. You also mention that the tiny bottom tab on the mouthpiece is “deformed” - you have super-sized the picture and we can barely see any "deformation" that you are describing. Please contact me at teece@healthyrips.com if this is an issue and we will send you another mouthpiece :)

The build quality of the FURY is exceptionally solid and precise - it has a solid Kirsite Alloy body with a stainless steel air path, stainless steel chamber and a glass vapor path - completely isolated. There is not a single piece of plastic that touches the air path or vapor path - your body gets zero exposure to plastic or any other contaminants.

Addressing this comment: “I had a tiny silvery particle/flake falling out of the bowl - when inspecting it I could see a scratch and some other surface damage on the heater wall”. This is not something we have encountered before - it could have been scratched while being assembled by hand on the assembly line - human error. We apologize that there was a tiny speck/scratch on the chamber - we are confident that this will not affect the integrity or performance of the vaporizer.
Furthermore - both videos that are posted in this thread show close-ups of their FURY chambers and they are flawless.
See here:
And here:

You mention “off-gassing” - we test and use our FURY and FORCE units all the time and have never experienced any off-gassing whatsoever. And we have not had a single complaint about off-gassing. The silicone parts that you seem to be talking about are in the mouthpiece - not the unit itself. The mouthpiece does use food-grade silicone o-rings to prevent leakage just like practically every other vaporizer - we honestly don’t experience any off-gassing with our FURY or our FORCE. We have even tested them right out of the box with no burn-off and we get no off-gassing. The air path is a stainless steel tube that runs from the bottom intake up into the chamber and is completely isolated from the electronics. The mouthpiece vapor path is glass - as opposed to plastic like many vaporizers including the Crafty, Mighty, etc. We and our clients have experienced amazing vapor production and flavor with the FURY.

Furthermore, our vaporizers including the FURY are made with 100% food-grade materials from tip to tip. And they are RoHS certified for your 100% health and safety as you can read here: http://www.healthyrips.com/health.html

We posted a blog about the our printing company making a misprint of the temperature range on the box as we have documented a month ago in our blog here (we did not catch the mistake in time to correct it prior to printing): http://www.healthyrips.com/blog/misprint-on-fury-box-and-instruction-manual
This is far different from making claims on a website (as Sutra and Hippie have done) that can be easily correctable in a few minutes.

The radiant heat that is picked up from the Convection Heating Element has been discussed repeatedly and we have changed the wording on our website because we want everyone to know exactly what they are buying. The FURY chamber will pick up heat from the Convection Heating Element - but the chamber cools down quickly because the heating element is NOT directly connected to the chamber...so you are not waiting for the entire heating element to cool down - only the chamber. And think about this: Convection vaporizers will heat the chamber as you draw hot air through them and that is when they become the most effective. Storz & Bickel also realize this - that is why their vaporizers (Crafty & Mighty) are so effective from the very first draw (like ours). All Convection vaporizer chambers get hot and must cool down - it would be impossible to draw hot air through a chamber and not heat the chamber regardless.
Just look at the ABV from the FURY - extremely even browning and extraction - and it does not need to be stirred.

You mention there is draw resistance? The FURY has practically free-flowing air - sorry...not sure what you are talking about here - unless you packed the chamber. The chamber should not be packed - you need to keep your material loose so the the hot air (convection) can flow easily through your material.

Batteries: We only use LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries which do not explode. We will Not be taking the risk of using Li-Ion (Lithium Ion) 18650 batteries as they can cause severe injury. It would take just one person to severely burn their groin or face and we would be finished as a company.

We appreciate your suggestions - and we will take them under serious consideration.

Oh Gosh. . Why??? Of all the 'popular' Dry herb vape review channels . . Why them?!?

The most insubstantial, brief, and un-convincing reviews come from this lady and her mate. Literally a complete waste of time. All I seem to see her do in the vids I've seen is take a few tokes and say wow I'm so happy :) A reviewer she is not.

EDIT: my post seems mean. That was not my intention, and I bare no ill will to these lovely ladies and their channel or success. I was just sad that the first proper review of my most anticipated vape wasn't from a reviewer who's videos, opinion I even remotely care about. .

2 things..you guys keep saying that you have had zero complaints but so far the members on this site who have gotten this " new" device have complaints. Not sure how long the fury has been in production and out in the wild but these members are very knowledgeable and you just dismiss their complaints as you guys haven't had any complaints?? Well now you do right? I dunno just seems counterproductive to just insinuate that the device is perfect and to compare to mighty and crafty?? And storz and bickel? I'm not 100 percent but don't think they claim 100 percent convection..I'm super interested in this device and glad your on here but at least don't dismiss our members issues as no other complaints from any other user in the world?

@subway13029 Our apologies if we have ever come across as dismissive. We have not taken anything written by any member here as a complaint. We have listened to opinions and concerns and addressed each one of them. We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback about the FURY and appreciation for its performance.

We have our contact email addresses posted here and listed on our website and we haven't received any complaints. If anyone has one - please email healthyrips@gmail.com or email me personally at teece@healthyrips.com.

We have discussed our Convection Technology numerous times - please read through this thread as we do not want to be repetitive.

We realize that nothing is perfect - and if an issue arises - we will always treat our clients the way we would want to be treated. We have the same goals as all of you here - we started this company to help people stop combusting and start vaping - people will only do that if they have a vaporizer that vaporizes well and is healthy to use. We exist to provide the very best products and service at the best prices possible.

Thank you for welcoming us here - it is awesome to hear that you are interested in our FURY! To show our appreciation for the members here on FC - for the month of June use coupon code JUNE62 at checkout to get $20 off either the FORCE or the FURY :).

Please let us know if there are any other questions, comments or concerns. We will try to be more careful with our wording - we would never intentionally offend anyone. We want our clients for life - not just a single purchase

Healthy Rips send me a free test unit I received a few days ago for a review here in FC, I'm absolutly not affiliated with them and got a lot of doubts...

But I'm rather happy with this unit, not perfect, not full convection but a lot of things to like .

I will agree with @vapen00b with some of his complains but not for all.

First the design is very stealth and small, reminds me a sort of mini Prima, I don't know what is kirstite but it's very soft to the touch and feel solid also.

I will agree about the "very difficult to remove" mouthpiece, need a lot of strength, will be an issue with people with hand pains and maybe will tear the mouthpiece pretty fast although I didn't noticed any stress mark on mine..

Loading is easy and closing the lid is not difficult at all (only difficult to remove).

Heating time is very fast but not comparable to a GrassHopper imo....Airflow seems larger than the GH's airflow imo though maybe too much unrestricted for me... I like a bit of restriction, resistance. But not an issue for most guys!

About the convection/conduction debate.... imho unscientific and from the stoners mountains... there is some conduction/radiation involved here since you can get a small cloud from a very short puff but it's thin and it clearly doesn't bake a lot your load between draws.

It works very well with loose load with a very uniform abv which never came out blackened like in a conduction vape even using the device at 420°F at the end of the session. Although it's efficient and the load seems totally spent.

About weird taste and offgassing.... I can't speak about a strong silicone taste/smell in my experience... more a sort of thin new smell which seems gone after a quick iso whip and a thin factory taste for the first session. It seemed clean enough for me to don't bother me with a burnoff(just a quick up to temp and shut off)... so i can't speak about the offgassing but most units could have a thin amount of residue on the heater/bowl and will produce a thin vapor(if thick there is an issue!)
For comparison I have a silicon whip (from MagicFlight) I can smell silicone even without to put my nose on it, I never smell something like that with my Fury (for info I use the Herbalaire or 7thfloor tubing cause not made of silicone and totaly free of bad smell or taste).

Go back to my vaping experience, the unit produce airy clouds, they are potent and thick but I think the air to vapor ratio is high like in most convection unit making the vapor very smooth and easy for the throat.
Taste is more than decent, you'll taste your flowers and it doesn't destroys terpènes too fast if you don't crank it up too fast. Definitly better than a full conduction unit but not like a full convection.

Although for a on the go vaporizer I like to get some conduction cause if i'm walking on the wild i can't take a 15s hit in the same time without breath issues, here I can take a 8s hit and get good vapor!

Charging time is under 2 hours, the unit shuttoff after 4mn of use (you need to make again the whole reactivation process...).

Can't speak about cleaning but for now (after 15-18 sessions) I just scraped the resin on the top screen. I can't see it clogged since the very large vaporpath and you can dismantle the mouthpiece for better cleaning.

Like @mephisto I like this vape!
Unlike @mephisto I think it's not a grassHopper killer..
Like @vapen00b I expect some improvements..
Unlike @vapen00b I'm not tasting any plastic/silicone taste...just my meds!

Definitly a good contender... and affordable!

edit: I'm going to take some pics and post it immediatly after!

Nice write up always enjoy your perspective.

Not that I disagree or want to get too off topic here with comparisons. What makes it not a Hopper killer. I can agree heat up and extraction speed are still slower than the Hopper.

Have you ever smoked and for how long if so. Cigs or cannabis.

Don't want to be offtopic too but I would say it's not a GH killer cause the reasons you mentionned and the taste...

Actually I was just curious on your taste palette I can taste when metal silicone or ceramic is heated especially around the higher temp spectrum. Hopper has an awful metallic taste for me and this vape taste like chinese insulation or adhesive.

Despite the small heat up time issues this unit has entirely replaced my Hopper in terms of a hard hitting on demand portable even though its not as harsh and hard per hitting as the Hopper.

Might do a on demand video later but I can start inhale 10 seconds after heating has begun and turn off mid draw and be satisfied I'll probably include the Hopper as an example to compare to in the video.

Ok, I forgotten to reply you: Yes I smoked a lot for 20 years... and still smoke occasionnaly..

Personnaly I didn't noticed any metallic taste with my GH, I'm under the impression the Fury's taste is slightly muted in comparison although I never felt any silicone/plastic except maybe a thin layer of "new car" smell.

The fact you mentionned to taste the difference if the bowl ceramic, metal or glass is the probe you might a delicate palate... cause, in my case, I'm not sure to be able of that distinction, maybe with a brand new unit but not with a seasoned unit. Maybe it could be nice to make a sort of blind test similar to the wine competition!
Try to find the strain and the heater component!

More to come...

I wonder why those of you who have this state the taste isn't great..I don't own this unit but it looks to have a similar heating chamber and method as the force/fenix...I find the taste of the fenix to be above average for a hybrid vape..any of you own both models to do a taste comparison?

I own a health rips fury and I use it all the time. It ticks most of the boxes I have for a portable vape. Fast heat up, lung busting hits when I want or take small sneaky hits, hybrid mainly convection imo, and it's easily palmable for inconspicuous vaping, which is what I prefer.
My only gripes are the battery life (understandable considering its size) and it stinks when not in use, I mean it smells so bad my dad gave me shit cause he could smell it. It needs a cap a la prima style.

vapen00b

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
Next time I will ask for a review unit too... I think I dedicated quite some time to evaluate and measure stuff for my beloved community. Anyway.
Wish I could report much things had changed since my initial report.
The units silicone still stinks and smells and I'm afraid it will never go away. All I want to taste is the material you put in and not some badly cured silicone outgassing... I passed this to a few non-smoker friends for some tokes and everyone could at least taste a faint plasticky byproduct. Being all in for flavor this one is still a 6.5/7 of 10. No chance to win in that department against true full convection vapes like Mi,Zi,tubo etc.

Unit still works more than decently and heats up pretty quickly producing big clouds (not as dense, pure and flavorful as the aforementioned). It's clearly not full convection (please read back) and has a massive conductive heat going on (not a bad thing!), I still wished healthyrips would change the description and name it as it is to correct that - please don't spin on this again, it's a matter of physics, not my way of seeing things (feel free to check out the tubo thread where I did the same conduction/radiation tests. full convection=different results!)
A powerful hybrid does not sound bad too me?! Like this it's misleading causing wrong expectations. Would not have bought a wrongly tagged unit for sure... Well, that's life but you can learn from it and try to change things.
:peace:

Hi there,
long time lurker first time poster here
I have tested the HealthyRips Fury for a little more than a week now and decided to post my 2c about it here.
I'm very pleased with the unit and it is my go-to portable vape from now on. On the topic of the tase: Fresh out the box there was a quite unpleasant smell/taste of plastic (someone here used the term "new-car-smell which i find the perfect description). After a quick burnoff and 2 bowls of material the smell/taste has completely disappeared and now the unit produces good tasting clouds of vapor (I'm also a long time smoker so my tolerance level here might not be comparable to other people but I had vaporizers that had much worse taste). I love the fury mainly because of it's formfactor and stealth use. Especially important to me is an easy way to refill the vaporizers while on the go and therefore the Fury is just perfect. You can remove the mouthpiece and store it in your pocket while you refill the unit, making it very easy to prepare a new bowl, even while walking. This is an aspect I always found problematic with all the other portable vapes I tested so far. Battery life is quite good imo and the "on-demand-character" of the vape makes it possible to use it constantly over the day. I get around four bowls (at least 2 sessions per bowl) with full battery and the fast charging time in combination with a battery bank in the backpack assures that the unit is ready to go during the whole day. This is the main reason why the fury now is my go-to portable vape. All in all I find the Fury the perfect companion while outdoors and I find myself using it at home more and more when I just want some quick sessions without starting up my desktop vaporizer.

Tips for imrpovement: As someone mentioned earlier a stealth mode without any light would be very helpful. Especially the red/green light in the vapor path doesn't have any real purpose except looking cool. But you only really see it when using the unit in a dark room and most of the time you would prefere no lights at all when this is the case.

Hi @vapen00b - Thank you for your constructive criticism - our vaporizers including the FURY are made with 100% food-grade materials and are not harmful whatsoever. They are also RoHS certified for your health and safety as you can read here: http://www.healthyrips.com/health.html. We have sold hundreds of the FURY and we have not had anyone else express any taste from the silicone and we have not experienced this with our own usage of the FURY. However, we value your opinion and we are discussing this as a team to explore any other options for food-grade silicone to make improvements to satisfy the most demanding and sensitive users like yourself :). If you are not completely satisfied with your FURY - please contact me personally at: teece@healthyrips.com

Hi @smokey_da_vape - We are so glad to hear how much you are enjoying the FURY! We really appreciate the suggestion about a 'cap' of some kind to keep down the smell when not in use. We have our team on it now and we should come up with a solution soon.

Hi @Bonkers420 - Thank you so much for your comments - we feel that your review of the FURY is fair and accurate and will help 99% of the people out there looking for an amazing portable vaporizer. We also appreciate the suggestion about the light in the vapor path and we will discuss a 'stealth mode' as a team.

Thank you all again for your support and we will continue to consider all suggestions for the continuing effort to perfect our vaporizers.

All the Best!

On the topic of the tase: Fresh out the box there was a quite unpleasant smell/taste of plastic (someone here used the term "new-car-smell which i find the perfect description). After a quick burnoff and 2 bowls of material the smell/taste has completely disappeared and now the unit produces good tasting clouds of vapor (I'm also a long time smoker so my tolerance level here might not be comparable to other people but I had vaporizers that had much worse taste)...
Welcome @Bonkers420 and thanks for the review!

This one has been on my radar since it first appeared on FC. Beautifully designed, pocketable vapes are my Kryptonite. Unfortunately, vapes that lack a clean smell or taste effect me like Kryptonite.
There are different smells/tastes that I've encountered with new vapes, the "new car smell"(usually eliminated with burn offs), silicone smell(which if is accessible can be diminished/eliminated with Iso and coconut oil), machine/machine oil smell(again if accessible, can be removed), but sometimes, there is no eliminated the smell/taste issue, rendering a vape unusable for me. It also causes me to question the safety of the unit.

Burn offs, isopropyl alcohol, and coconut oil actually remove undesirable material from the vaporizer/path. If it takes running material thru the vape to lose the smell, that's masking the problem, coating the undesirable material rather than removing it, and that give me pause...and that makes it hard to type.

That's good to read. Although being sensitive in this area, when I read of smell/taste issues, I get wary.
But to be clear, I don't think it's fair to expect any manufacturer to design to the outliers, that's unreasonable. Just keeps guys like me on the fence.
Best of luck, it's a beautiful unit!
