Will it be able to vape to a DARK brown sm55?

I hit my Supreme @ 350F and it's probably not the cleanest vapor but it provides the best high and I would hate to go back to a PD temp.
Most definitely, we've decided to take the high temp limiter out so the vaporist could enjoy his/her vapor the way they like it. Whether it is the cool, tasty vapor that I prefer... or the stonier vapor that helps you sleep, the Cloud will support the temperature range to fit your vapor needs. We will be doing some tests to determine the combustion point and will dial it back just a tad so you don't accidentally combust your material if you get aggressive with the heat knob.

Wait- a company is actually responding to the requests of potential buyers and trying to offer more features and versatility for the same price? That's clearly unamercian.

Inferior parts, poor usability, corporate inflexibility, poor value, bad for the environment... Now that's the way of doing business we're all comfortable with.

Time for another Robot update.

@Mr Smoke No More - Thanks for the vote of confidence but as the eldest statesman of the VX team, it is quite alright that I am not hip. As long as we are listening to our future customer base and execute to produce kick ass vapes, then I am a happy Robot.

@NYC Vape - Thank you for the kind words!

@ohigho - We don't have a huge marketing budget, we spent most of our money on research and development. We figured, if we build a bad ass vaporizer, the vaporists will come, but we do know that people need to know about the vape for us to succeed so your efforts are very much appreciated.

@quomist - I thought it was SM55 that keeps voting "all day, every day" good to know it wasn't him this whole time :D

@llamaman - your questions is answered below in the update.

Onto the update!

PN3K (Jeff, the engineer) has made the changes to the design along the lines of what I posed last time. These have been passed along to our industrial designer for incorporation into the CAD files. As soon as theyre done, we FTP the files to the enclosure manufacturer so they can revise the molds.

In other news, SM55 did quite a bit of testing over this past weekend. It was a good news, not-so-good news situation. To be specific, the heating element worked too well. The enclosure (along with the heat shield) got too hot to hold with your bare hand. This is not OK.

So today PN3K ordered three different insulating materials. One of which looks particularly promising. Its called Aerogel (commonly referred to as Liquid Smoke). You can check it out here if you like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerogel We should receive the sample thereof (along with the two other, less bitchin materials) in the next few days. Testing will commence immediately upon receipt no sleep for PN3K Im afraid. If all goes well, we will have solved the final piece of the proverbial puzzle.

In other news, the website is up. It changes on an almost daily basis as we add content here and there. Some of it will be new to you folks, some will not. I think youll find it entertaining as well as informative.

We are going to add a pre-order page over the next couple days too. We wont charge your card until we ship though. To make it worth your while, we will be offering a discount for those of you who pre-purchase one of the first 1,000 units (details will be spelled out on the website). After that, its back to full price. Were going to throw in some bonus loot too (e.g., stickers, t-shirts, maybe, and maybe some other stuff). Stay tuned

Lastly, we made a few design changes to The Cloud that are just plain f*cking cool. Why? Because PN3K is a stud and thought them up while, ahem, testing with SM55 this past weekend. But Im not gonna spill the beans on those just yet we want to have a few surprises for you boys come release time.

Thats all for now. As always, thanks for your patience and continued interest guys. You have my word that we will not disappoint you.

Got a question regarding the two glass tubes on your website. I've never used bongs or expensive water pipes/pieces, so forgive me if I am ignorant about the skills that your glass masters display, but what is or would be the functional difference between the two tubes displayed or referenced on your website?

thanks

The enclosure (along with the heat shield) got too hot to hold with your bare hand.
was that from a single vape session, or over several hours of operation - say 10 sessions? maybe caused by too much stress on the power supply?

Either way it all leads to the same place, too hot to hold.

Somehow I have this funny image in my head of SM holding it with potholders cuz he REALLY wanted to keep testing in the name of research of course ;)

voted vaping all day long !!

Same Q as Tdavie here. As I am not sure i really got the differences.

Anyway, can't wait for the cloud !!

I have almost find someone that lives in the US to order it for me and then send it to France... I might be the first in France to own one this way ! :D

I know you guys do not want to sell it right away out of the USA, but I hope u will xcuse my hurry, I am willing to take the risk and wish I can be one of the first 1000 :)

So little Q here : In the case I manage to grab a US version, will I need a power converter or anything like that to plug it in ?

Can't wait for the presale. I will definitely rock any gear it comes with.

If choices are between the circ dome and 10 tree, I will go for the circ dome. I'm not a fan of trees.

I can't wait for new hydratubes, it will be a new section to the collection.

I'm gonna be one of the first 1,000. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the tree, I love how it's reinforced, and I want some VG glass.

I quickly glanced through this thread and was completely lost with the concept of what this was or how it works. I spent the last few days re-reading it and I now have a much stronger understanding of what's going on. I was gonna buy a SSV just to hook up to glass but I think this takes the cake. I've also been wanting a nice bong with a prec or two so I may just have to get one of the hydratubes and call it even.

I love the photo below! I'm very confident that aerogel will work, otherwise, I will not love the photo below.

@raf and tdavie - describing the different percolator experience is a bit tricky. Think of each percolator type like a different type of car. Although any car can get you to your destination, depending on which car type you choose, the ride will be drastically different.

The purpose of the percolator is to diffuse the air bubbles, smoothing out the vapor. The HydraTree and Showerdome are both excellent at diffusion but provide a slightly different user experience. The HydraTree is a bit smoother and hums compared to the chuggier showerdome. Vertigo's Trees hit a little different than Sovereignty's Gridded Trees as well.

A lot of it is personal preference. For myself, I've always loved showerhead style percolators but that doesn't mean I don't like to hit the trees every once in a while. Even though the SG Pillar Bub is the favorite piece I own, I rarely hit that thing more than two days in a row before I want to switch it up.

This was one of the main ideas behind the Cloud concept. To build a vaporizer with a modular design so that the end user could customize their vapor experience based on their preferences. I have no idea which HydraTube someone would prefer but what I can say is that no matter which one you choose, I can confidently say that you will have purchased some of the best glass that money can buy (that's my inner Billy Mays coming out).

@raf007 - You will need a converter of some sort, but you can definitely run a US one if you have one of those converters. I have no issues sending any units internationally as long as the buyer understands that the launch Clouds will be US version.

On another note, I understand that a lot of people are antsy to get their hands on one of these and it must be frustrating to see the launch date pushed back. Believe me, I am just as anxious as you guys to get this thing completed and out into your hands. I was describing to someone the inspiration for the Cloud and it occurred to me, I am basically building the ultimate toy for myself and it just happens to align with what I believe others would enjoy in a vaporizer.

As a businessman, I am very anxious to launch this product. As a vaporist, I think I am even more anxious to have one of these to use all day, every day, minus the oven mitts. Anyhow, this was my long, convoluted way of saying that I appreciate all the patience that everyone is giving us and like Robot said, this thing is gonna kick mucho arse when it's publicly available.

@stonemonkey thanks for your descriptions. None of that means much to me, having never used glass/water/pipes; it sounds interesting though. And although my (almost) entire medical usage has been through vaporizers, I have found that vaping through anything other than a whip isn't comfortable after a few hours, so I think I'm looking forward to my first glass/water/filtration experience.

I think you'll enjoy water filtration, especially if you're a meditative type of person. It takes longer to setup/clean up, but the experience of using a bubbler can be very relaxing. The vapor is moist, and the droning sound of the percolating bubbles always puts me in a relaxed state. Just take long, slow draws and enjoy the passing moment.

Thx for these answers SM55 !

It gives us a little more insight on the glass differences, even if I m aware it is not easy to describe :)
AND it just put a smile on my face knowing I can get the US version !

After The 4400 , The 1000...
