Adding terps to dabs...

Perhaps I don't get out enough but today while on a trip to my chiropractor I stop at the smoke shop next door and while talking to the sales girl she says to me "You ever try Space Bear?"

I had no no clue what she was talking about but I gambled the $40 for it after she explained and came home and just did a dab of some shatter with a dip of the "Higher" flavour they sell..was pretty impressed with the flavour and the nice high I got, I definitely felt better than a normal dab...haha :-)

Limited info on this shit and I won't post the company URL but I did find this YouTube video or someone enjoying all flavours, I tried one and I'm going to buy more tomorrow! Do other companies make this that perhaps Im clueless about?...haha, I don't get out with crowds much with my age but vape and dab lots with my sublimator!

Heres a video I watched after purchasing it, I only tried with shatter but imagine you could vape with weed.

Might as well post the link: https://www.thespacebearcompany.com/

I've tried a terpene extract, by evolab. I paid $65 for .25ml. It was strain specific (I got super lemon haze) and had very low thc. Basically liquid. Delicious but definitely not worth the price.

I tried dabbing it directly using some 1ml syringes and fill tips I got from ebay. that method was super tasty (one of the best things I've ever dabbed) but got about 3 hits worth before it ran out.

$40 is a better value, but still on the pricey side IMO.

Are the space bear terps cannabis derived?

I did some quick googling and found these. $50 for 5ml is a far, far better deal. They say not cannabis derived (not a big deal personally) but I'd prefer a non-synthetic extract.

Edit:
Here's another site that lists if they're organic or synthetic. Even cheaper too at ~35 bucks per 15ml. No strain profiles, but I'd think it'd be cool to try the isolated terps.

One more:
https://www.true-blue.co/collections/strain-profiles

That site has specific profiles at $50 per 5ml or a sample pack of 5 different 1ml profiles for $70. Seems like the best option so far.

Apparently they are cannabis terps using steam extraction, I purchased in my city for $44 CAD but I think a 5 pack is around $150 USD so up here probably around $160 CAD.

Perhaps the *steam extraction* of cannabis is better than what others are selling such as "Pans Ink" https://cbdgum.networkofhemp.com/product/pans-ink-natural-terpene-blends/

This other brand seems to be essential oils and 75 drops a bottle, but i'm confused what the difference is between the two...if anybody else knows chime in please.

It sounds like they're basically the same thing. Probably not cannabis derived though. I mean terpenes are chemically identical- so unless you're trying to perfectly replicate the strain profile, I don't think it matters.

I don't like how the Pan's Ink doesn't say what actual terpenes are in each blend.

Ok there's definitely a premium on cannabis-derived terps.

These are the cheapest I've found:
Empire Wellness. 14 strains available and they cost $70/ml. Much cheaper than space bear and evolab at $160 and $240 per ml, respectively.

Alright I just ordered the "new release" sample pack from Buy-Terpenes. Includes a .5ml each of Blue Cheese, Blue Dream, Gorilla Glue #4, OG Kush, & Tangie for $65 shipped.

Buy-Terpenes also has the MSDS for everything they sell:
https://buy-terpenes.com/safety/

True-blue would've been cheaper by $/ml but overall more expensive, and I imagine 2.5ml should last for a while.

Anyways I'll write a quick review when they come in next week.

Just thought to mention I was at my chiro again the other day for a adjustment and I went back in the same store I bought the first one and asked about a 5 pack, they say they don't have five packs for sale so like a sucker I bought another one called "Deep" https://www.thespacebearcompany.com/products/red-terpenes

Well I guess I shouldn't say I'm a sucker but after using the first one "Higher" the past week on and off and I can without a doubt when using it I was higher for sure, so much I actually felt slight anxiety but not a big deal.

I thought if that one gave me results I might as well try the deep one that is for pain, for sure its doing something and can't imagine this being in my head...the price however is not what I like at all. I can say I read there is about 10 drops per bottle, myself I have been taking a small piece of shatter and I heat lightly so its pliable and wrap on the end of my dab tool and then I dip it in this container and the "higher" bottle I have I kept track on paper and did ten dips and I would estimate I can dip another 5-10 times...so thats a good thing!

I guess other will have to try for themselves, or use your friends :p , I definitely feel something different when using with this shatter.

Yeah 40 bucks is kinda pricey for the volume, but hey, gotta splurge on some things.

How is the taste of spacebear terps? Like do they noticeably improve flavor or is it mostly for the effect?

Anyways, I got notification that my terps were delivered today. Looking forward to trying them out later! Might have to leave work a bit early...;)

The taste is good, the "Higher" one taste like lemons smell strongly of it when you open the container and when you take a hit you can for sure taste it, the shatter I have is mostly bland so this gives it taste. The new one I got "Deep" reminds me of a candy smell and tastes good also.

Ok got a chance to try some of the terps.

here's how they were packaged:
7cexARO.jpg

each flavor includes a separate glass dropper:
z9cRruZ.jpg

the actual extract is completely clear:
UjM8IdT.jpg

1st impression: They're extremely fragrant. The smell lingers and if you put your nose right over an open vial, it's almost overwhelming. However they don't particularly smell like weed. Kind of chemical-y. If I smelled this blindfolded I would guess it was a perfume or incense, rather than a cannabis product. Tangie for example, smells borderline like a cleaning chemical (i.e. pledge).

So far I've tried the tangie (paired with golden goat shatter), gorilla glue (paired with gorilla glue shatter), OG kush (paired with generic wax), and blue cheese (paired with generic wax). I've had variations of tangerine strains before (though not recently) and have had OG kush before (again, not recently), but I'm very familiar with Gorilla Glue. One of my favorite strains in fact. That said, the GG extract does not taste like gorilla glue. The gorilla glue shatter is not the best but has hints of the true strain flavor. However dipping it in the extract almost makes it taste worse: it's more intense but tastes flatter and less natural.

It's missing something, all of the terp flavors are. They taste flat. Kinda like comparing fruit flavored candy to the real deal. I mentioned above they don't really smell like weed. Well they don't taste like it either. Living in colorado I have to access to what is probably some of the best cannabis in the world. I know what good flower and concentrate tastes like, and it does not taste like these terps.

There does seem to be a slight additional effect high-wise but I don't know if I enjoy it. It's stonier but without the body high and doesn't seem to create extra anxiety. Though it's hard to tell if that's due to dabbing 3 different strains or a byproduct of the actual terps.

So in summary:

The Evolab terp extract I had was amazing; I'd give it a 10/10. Compared to that, these "True Terpenes" are a 5/10 at best. It definitely doesn't turn 7/10 shatter into 10/10. It's a tossup if the score stays the same or goes down. On one had there is more flavor, but on the other, it's not the flavor I was expecting nor something I really like.

Might be an improvement for low-grade concentrate that taste bad, or to use as a vape cartridge additive (which I'll be exploring later), but for anyone with half decent product, I don't recommend this.

Thanks for the honest review and sorry if you didn't enjoy. I definitely feel something else but really not sure what it is, I guess will have to see if in the near future more and more companies start producing these and if there is really something behind why they might get you higher or make you feel different.

@Bouldorado -- Hey man, track down some Cannibus Maximus HTFSE/Live Resin. You can find them in Rec dispensaries(no Med for now). I know that High Level Health on Lincoln Ave in Denver carries them,go on Sat for 20% of all concentrates, comes out to like $48-52/g. Some of the grams I have gotten have tested like over 20% for terp content. Plus they also list the individual terpenes, for example if you're looking for something high in m-myrcene or the like.
If you recall from some of our prior seshs, I am a Green Dot Labs die-hard, and continue to be, but the Cannibus Maximus brand has definitely become an addition to my stable of concentrates. No need to add in anything because you're already in FlavorTown, lol.

glad to see this, going to check out High Level Health next week...hotel is only a couple blocks away!

First trip to denver coming up, are there reputable delivery services there or is it all through dispensaries? Weedmaps lists nothing for delivery...

@FlyingLow -Delivery services are not legal in Colorado. Have a great and safe trip. Don't forget to pick up a free copy of the Westword(found all around town, for even more coupons and such).

@Silver420Surfer

Thanks for the suggestion! I don't think I've had GreenDot since last time I saw you. Some of those (particular the strawberry banana) were the best dabs I've tried!

The live resin I'm getting now is definitely not as tasty. The options I've found are basically native roots for 45/g or colorado concentrates for 55-60/g. The last native roots I had (a sour diesel) was good but not amazing. CO concentrates are hit or miss and I've had enough misses that I probably won't buy them again.

Definitely gonna check out high level health. That's a great deal If they're selling high-terp live for under 55/g,

So yesterday I tried some terps on flower in a Pax. 1 drop of the Tangie. Better than dabbing it. Would say that definitely improved otherwise bland flower.

Picked up several live resins today, a first for me. From smoking gun picked up some chronic creations night berries live resin, the clear cart of red apple, a hugely skunky (I) called tree house berkel, and some of the most bright golden jeti kush (I) shatter from concentrated love. It's got hints of reddish color I've not seen in concentrates before.

Then to boulders helping hands rec store. Picked up an evo chroma cart and they had a special on live resin 2g for 90. Picked up botanico lucky charms and botanico bio dies. These are so much more aromatic, stable and colorfully brighter than the smoking gun.

Let us know how you like it for us poor slobs living in non-legal states.

AND-- get your butt over to High Level Health TODAY as Wednesday is your day. From their website:
"Of course, we couldn’t let you pay full price for concentrates either. That’s why Wednesdays and Saturdays are 20 percent off concentrates storewide! If that doesn’t excite you, we don’t know what will."
Just do it.... and let us know how it goes

Let me know how you like the Helping Hands live. 2 for 90 is a good deal and I've always been a fan of Botanico.

As far as shelf life goes, I'm not really sure. I tend to only buy 1 gram at a time so it's gone in 2-3 weeks. I store them at room temp and don't notice taste degrading in that time. However if you're planning to keep for more than a month, I would refrigerate personally.

I went by High Level Health this Wednesday- indeed got 20% off like @MinnBobber said. Ended up with Durban Poison for $48 out the door. Pretty damn tasty, and this isn't even the high-terp stuff (tests at ~7% and change).

I believe HLH had 3 different lives on their website but only had the cheapest in stock (which they just call "live resin"). Would've been $60/g without the discount. On Weedmaps that's the same price as the 20%+ terps "Full Spectrum Live Resin" (that I was hoping to get).

Exactly my thoughts.
I read one of their reviews where someone tell you not to expect to smell like weed, to what I say, why not? Aren't the terpenes what gives the cannabis flower its fragrant smell?
With so many chromatograph terpene profiles out there why can't they replicate the strains correctly? It almost seem like they are afraid the profiles are going to smell like weed.
Makes me question the legitimacy of their claims on their bulk terpenes they sell.
Btw,I bought $100.00 plus worth of them, and they all seem to smell the same, with the Super Lemon Haze being the best of all, but it doesn't smell like the real thing.
On the other hand, I bought Blue River Terps and it was so strong, and a real weed funk that I thought I over did it with my CBD isolate mix that I had to air it out with a heat gun because I just couldn't handle the strength.
Overall, don't waste your money on the above product reviewed by @Bouldorado.

Edit: the only thing I can think of this will be good is to mix them with a neutral oil like Tetra Labs for stealth situations since they have a sweet candy smell.

Things are getting sad in the Cannabis world. Terps are not terps. Just like organic growers know nitrogen is not nitrogen, no matter what science says, the source matters.

Limonene for example, can be purchased by the gallon, by the 50 gallon drum probably. For really cheap. It smells good, but is not a flavor. I've seen a lot of people claim smoking these food grade terpenes produces a good flavor, and I will say those people must be delusional, likely have never had properly working taste buds.

I've had the misfortune of vaping Cannabis that was fed essential oils into the hydroponic liquid. Essential oils cannot be smoked. No one is studying this, they are just capitalizing on an unregulated market largely filled with consumers who I can only refer to as 'placebo people'. Put a drop of essential oil on your tongue. Its sickening and burns. My sister works ER and sees essential oil burns all the time. You do not want to put the crap in your lungs.

Im not trying to scare anyone, but I would stay far away from the non-cannabis terps. If not for the fact that the price is ridiculously inflated once a stoned animal holding a potleaf is printed on the vial, then for the fact that what youre smoking has nothing to do with Cannabis and is likely not safe to be atomized into the lungs, as natural Cannabis is.

I've smoked the flavored "clear" before. Anyone saying it tastes good is lying. Its that simple. Smell and taste are completely seperate and only related by coincidence.

Im beginning to think most Cannabis users do not have taste buds where I live. Whatever the Leafly description on flavor is, is what they claim to taste, and its rarely accurate when i try the same bud. I've completely quit vaping with others for the reason that i cant keep a straight face putting something bitter, like rind extract, into my body.

Its almost, but not quite comical, when people talk about Limonene, they always say its in lemon peels... Why would you use the peel as an example? It's in the whole fruit... The rinds, industry scraps, are just what the non-cannabis natural terpenes are extracted from, and it shows in the flavor. .
