Herb Grinders

While they no longer make a 2 piece at all, they have left the 2 piece grinder up on their website, in the event that some store may still have some on a shelf.
Here is the info on the 2 piece grinder directly from their website:
If you like complete control, the 206 is for you.
The 206 2-piece provides the freedom to determine how fine your grind is, with the simplicity of open and close operation. No threads to loosen, no parts to lose. Nothing except the beauty of black ceramic on top of perfectly machined metal.

If you already use a two stage grinder, you’re familiar with the benefits. If you use a four stage, or don’t use a grinder at all, it might be time to make a change.

Do you vaporize or bake?
The 206 is the perfect companion for the kitchen or medical user.
Traditional 2-piece grinders have long been preferred by those who need the finest grind possible. Vaporization and cooking both require maximum surface area for best results - a task the 206 excels at. Just turn until you have powder, drop it in your vape or mixing bowl, and you’re good to go.

And because the grinding plates are 100% coated in our FDA approved ceramic coating, everything you put in comes out. No more wasted material stuck inside your grinder, no possibility of aluminum shavings.

In my heart I think I am loving the SLX more than the SCS.

Hey man, just curious which is better from a functional point of view in terms of ease of turning, on the hands/wrists. I assume the large 3 piece SCS? Also is your SCS good with just small amounts of material, say approximately 1/2g?

The SLX looks decent, but i'm concerned about its mechanical leverage with respect to turning, and my larger hands compared to the large 3 piece SCS.

Not sure Kid, I own the 4 piece SLX and its super nice, herb doesnt stick to it! Only cleaned it once in 1 year and many Ozs of use. I use a Kannistor for a finer vape grind

Yeah and by 3piece I mean the 4piece with the screen tray removed. It's more of a 3.5piece isn't it? I can get a finer grind than my GR8TR for sure but this is with fresh moist dense sticky buds as I prefer

Oh right! The old 206 ones, but they also have a different coating I believe, the 2.0 is new and improved so they say or so I've heard here

@biohacker it's also got these two flat notches on the sides so it's not full round but a little square section to grip for grinding, it works pretty well since it's so smooth with the coating, and it is a nice width despite being shallow. I know you like GR8TR solid body with the big top for turning, now I gave it that is nice, but 2.2inch I still like wider 2.4 and just haven't minded the shallowness at all. My hands are medium small though I know my old 4piece SCS used as a 3pieve was so shallow it did cramp my hands. Not yet with SLX at all... The SCS 3 piece is for sure nice and I have the 2.2 so different but yeah, you k ow how I feel lol

I agree Lift seems easiest to turn and also unthread to access load (as does SWII) but it's unique otherwise so I dono if it's right call

After owning the Lift, it's not an option...hated the grind consistency, but yes easiest to turn by far. I don't have any real issues other than my hands are on the larger side, and all the twisting with a bunch of material does cause me tendonitis in my wrists, so I think I know the solution - Large 3 piece SCS AND large SLX! :D

Damn, GrAS is a bitch.....want so many now just to fuck around with and try since i'm so OCD....Mendo Mulcher large 3" is still on the list, as are SpaceCase and Sharpstone for nostalgia!

At least my VAS is now in check! As well as my SAS (Strain A.S.)

Loving my SLX more over time & it is just so damm consistent. Mine has been a workhorse & I only clean it when I feel like it. A brush out into a bowl of weed & a quick run through with a iso dipped toothbrush is all that is required.

As the profile is lower there can be leverage issues. The issue is offset by the coating & knurling around the edges & it stays smooth much longer than traditional anodised grinders.

For anyone having grip issues with a grinder cut a 3x3" square of rubber off a dishwashing glove. Better yet go to a hardware store & spend a couple of bucks on some form fitting coated gloves. They come in size 6-12 so you can get a perfect fit. You can use them for opening jars & all sorts as well.

My vote goes to t he SCS.had one for two years zero.issues. traded it (mistake) a ND just recently got a sweet orange 4 pc SCS. Always a pleasure to use .imo you know you have a quality grinder when it takes 3-5 twists to grind up whatever is in there. Cheers :)
How is the screen in that? Pretty wide open or is it fine?

On the finer side for sure. Especially with this one strain I have now, bubblegum, straight covered in kief so it builds up fast.i do a quick "sweep with a brush and that cleans the screen .only do that with this strain though.highly suggest a SCS if you're looking , never had a bad experience with them

Talked (chatted) with PuffitUp and I'm going to exchange it for the bigger one. The 2" is just too small and I would never be happy. It only ends up being like $9 more, plus shipping one way. Might as well be happy, right? :p
So, I sent the small SLX back and exchanged it for the Large. That just arrived. PuffItUp was extremely gracious and did the exchange with no problem. They even paid the shipping both ways. I thought that particularly generous.

This one feels MUCH better in my hands and will be a much better choice for me I'm sure. I kinda like the purple color too. I was trying to decide whether to clean it or not, so I wet a cue tip with ISO and ran around the inside of the top plate. I got nothing, no discoloration at all, so I skipped trying to clean the bottom piece as it would be a bitch. ;)

I haven't ground anything with it yet as I had just ground a couple days worth last night, thinking the grinder wouldn't get here until tomorrow. Maybe I'll grind something just for fun. :)

Added: OK, had to try it out. Put in a couple nugs and it was very smooth and quick. Very nice first experience.

I do want to try the SLX, it is the only other grinder on my radar that I think could improve on my SCS experience. I want to give it a chance.

I started looking at the SLX once I wanted to improve my experience.

The SCS is an extremely high starting point. I just wanted more.
I love the Mercedes Benz motto too much "The best or nothing."

Nice man! Glad it worked out for you in the end, I also love the purple color of mine

Just took the time to clean my large rasta SCS. Love the grind but cleaning it is a HUGE pain in the ass.
This was why I started looking for a replacement for the SCS. I don't like to clean. This is why I got the minivap vaporizer after using the DaBhudda. I don't like to clean and this vape stays clean.

If I hear about a product that will reduce the cleaning I will do, I will DEFINITELY try it.

Vapes R Great
I grind in a small 4pc spacecase and dump it into a medium 4pc space case.
Call me crazy but this is my routine for the last little while

Any aluminum grinder has been super easy to clean for me. Just ISO soak and rinse with hot water- repeat as needed. I've never scrubbed a grinder in over 20 years.

I thought I was good, but I'm thinking of trying the lift innovations now haha. If I get some good news from my hematologist tmr maybe I will splurge!

With all due respect I've never even had to consider an ISO soak with my SLX or Ti Space Case.

Cleaning is the main reason I didn't use a grinder for decades. The SLX and titanium Space Case have minimized that issue for me.
I don't quite get all this talk about SCS (or any other grinder really...) being difficult to clean. When I have plenty of herb and I don't need to use q-tips to scrub every little speck of resin to vape as a bonus, it's just an hour of ISO soaking in a small vase, a quick scrub with an old toothbrush and a rinse with hot water... Don't get what's the big deal... It's much harder to dust my room. :p:lol:

Haha those gloves @Stevenski , I'll admit a couple of times where they'd come in handy with the SLX (sweaty hands with hyper-dense nugs filling the grinding chamber will do it, there's a lot of teeth in there).
As long as the nugs are cured properly there's hardly any resistance though. And grinding 1 or 2 at a time solves any issues if they're not.

I guess also @natural farmer, it's not so much about the difficulty to clean, but the time it takes and having to factor it in. My 16 month old SLX has never seen any ISO, and it won't really need to either.
It has seen almost daily use, and 0 downtime or even annoyance caused by resin build-up.
When I want ground nugs, the SLX is there ready to go always, that's never not the case.

I don't mind cleaning things, I actually enjoy it mostly, but since rocking the PBW, SLX and GH combo, my time spent on maintenance has been massively reduced whilst the enjoyment and ease of vaping has massively increased.

The SCS is a great grinder, though it requires downtime and would have cost me more coin.

Simply because they did not have those sweet sweet colours when I got mine.

How good has the last 18 months or so been for our grinding @MoltenTiger? I have no desire to get any other grinder except maybe a purple or green SLX for shits n giggles.
Yeah I'm annoyed the two I scooped recently for friends were requested to be charcoal, I like the green one and wanted to see it in person.
But yeah, grinding with the SLX has been fantastic. Always consistent, always enjoyable and so much quality kief! Very happy with my purchase

^^^^^ This! I don't get it either.....ISO in a baggie in a bowl of hot water, MAYBE a bit of brushing with an old toothbrush, practically zero effort or inconvenience.... I just don't understand how a grinder is difficult to clean. GLASS can be difficult to clean, but grinders?

With all due respect I've never even had to consider an ISO soak with my SLX or Ti Space Case.

It just shows how different our experiences are....my Ti Space Case got gummed up super quick to the point of getting "stuck" and drove me nuts. That Ti anodized coating sure did scratch up as well, but shit that was about a decade ago...maybe things are better now, I do plan on purchasing one again just to see.
